One of the highest-leverage tools you can add to your stack
What do you like best about the product?
Census allows users who are familiar with the data they need (whether you're formally a member of the data team or not!) to liberate it from their data warehouse and sync it to the tools that would benefit from it. As a marketing ops person, using Census means that it's *trivial* for me to add a customer's product-related activity data to Salesforce, calculate summary stats for Marketo, and much more. Just requires a little collaboration with our data team.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product is still in its pretty early stages, so the UI of Census needs a little more love. Examples of this include categorizing the various syncs you have on your dashboards, their reporting of alerts/errors, etc. That said, the Census team is extremely hungry for feedback and has actively made changes based on crowdsourced feedback (and occasionally from direct, specific feedback that I've offered about my own specific use-cases). Nonetheless, the value of Census is far worth any momentary confusion I encounter, or the occasional digging required to troubleshoot issues (which stem from our own data, rather than anything wrong with Census itself).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to Census, we didn't have a great, non-Engineering-related way to sync data back to the SaaS tools that our business teams use. It meant that we only synced data to one tool – Salesforce – and making changes was cumbersome. Now we're syncing data to several places with intentions for more. We're able to operate at a much faster pace, and we're beginning to get more creative in our uses (e.g. moving some of our real-time automation in Salesforce into by-the-hour syncs via Census).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As with any tool like this, just make sure you have a decent foundation of data already in your systems, that's prepared to be sent to other systems (e.g. appropriate field types, etc). Otherwise, no cautionary tales.
An Easy Data Integration Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran is a relatively easy data integration tool to set the data point integrations. It supports many different types of data source and targets. One that was important for us was salesforce which helped make the decision.
What do you dislike about the product?
We had some challenges wth their sales team who were in such hurry to close the deal weren't allowing us to test the tool with needed integrations and environments properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had many different sources from where the data had to be collected into two major destinations. We had nearly 15 data sources which had sources like RMBMS, files, SF, stream, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good tools with less frill. I would recommend it if it fits your requirements. It is good for data transfer and replication and wouldn't recommend for ETL.
Low barrier to entry but gets pricey
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran is the defacto ETL SaaS product out there. Fivetran has a low barrier to entry and is reliable, and the interface is intuitive. Getting setup and working is comparatively quick. Documentation is very well done and has been easy to find and use.
What do you dislike about the product?
It gets pricey fast. I've seen bills where our ETL costs were higher than our warehousing costs. While it is mostly set and forget, there are times when additional configuration changes were necessary to fix issues as we scaled.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for ETL from our OLTP databases to our OLAP databases. Fivetran has kept our data moving without significant investment or management, this has allowed us to focus elsewhere.

Their discounting scheme is a bit opaque. Price it out first and understand your costs.

Implement it, it is expensive in the year, but it is worth it, as it simplifies data transfer, it is ideal for start-ups
Absolutely scam, don't ever sign a contract with them

The product works itself. If you have the budget and want to build your ETL pipeline, Fivetran works.
What do you dislike about the product?
Signing a contract with them means that you will pay for it and they won't provide the service. Terrible customer service. They hired non-technical people to do customer support.

You can build your ETL pipeline with Fivetran if you have the budget and developers.
Tool for developers mostly
What do you like best about the product?

What do you dislike about the product?
- The connectors break every second week, and Fivetran doesn't monitor that - they only learn from the tickets
- CS team will rather tell you to explore REST API calls on your own and will not proactively explore the technical issue. This can be an issue if you are a non-technical person
- The service is quite pricy and you will be charged even for downtimes because of their monetization approach
- Response time is not reliable, sometimes it might take 2-3 working days to reply to the ticket

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Connecting Google Ads, CRM, Stripe to DWH to get some data insights. An initial configuration is relatively fast and relatively straightforward.

Only use if you can debug technical problems
Amazing tool, It takes cares of all the ETL Development workload.

Integrating data in Salesforce, Google analystics data with SQL Server

Perfect data Extract tool, get data from any source and load data. perform incremental and delta loads, without any development efforts
Great for ingestion of data via out of the box connectors
What do you like best about the product?
Great tool for ingestion of data via out of the box connectors. Setting up the connections is very easy with clear instructions next to it for when you need help with any of the steps; e.g. how to setup continuous replication on a Postgres master.

Pricing model not 100% easy to understand
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are ingesting a.o. Google Analytics & Ads data into our datawarehouse. Before this was a manual download & import where now its done automatically, and the monitoring is directly also arranged. When there would be a hickup Fivetran is directly informing us via mail and when no action is taken automatically opening a ticket to check what is going wrong with the connection.

The process is easy and the team is awesome. They always answered all my questions and never had any major issues. Had a smooth Integration with Shopify.

Few tables were separated compared to my actual flat files, which I felt could be improved.

Process anutomation, and having a data warehouse.

a lot of connectors to connect your analytical database with the operational database, very easy to manage and monitor. The support is definitely one of the stronger points

nothing until now, but i would like to have more transformation features without use dbt

I am managing all our EL (extract and loads) process of our company with Fivetran and some schedule transformation process
