Ultimate Tool for Docs and Tasks, But Needs Better Dashboards and Recurring Features
What do you like best about the product?
It's an ultimate tool: docs, plans, tasks
What do you dislike about the product?
No good dashboards - No recurring tasks (you have to make a formula for that)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Again, it's an ultimate tool for me, I used it for business (project & product management), and also for personal use, like weekly calendar, reading list, courses list, and so on
Customizable Yet Challenging for Note-Taking
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the customizable nature of Notion. Although I initially found it challenging to set up because of its stark difference from OneNote and its somewhat coder-geared interface, I believe this complexity allows for a high degree of customization. This aspect is valuable because it lets me tailor it according to my needs as a university student, primarily for keeping and organizing my study notes. The ability to make it customizable enhances its utility in managing my studies effectively.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found the initial setup of Notion to be fairly difficult. Transitioning from OneNote, it was challenging to adapt to the way of making notes in Notion, as it felt quite different from what I was used to. Additionally, I still grapple with understanding the overall structure of Notion because it feels like it's designed primarily for software engineers, which makes it seem somewhat complex for a non-coder. This complexity makes me feel like I don't know how to use it properly.

Enjoying Notion AI
What do you like best about the product?
The AI features are great for optimizing integrations, relations, rollups and batch-editing.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like a little more flexibility when it comes to design, including editing page layouts. I'd like to be able to apply font changes across the entire workspace rather than only within certain databases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Setting up relations and rollups with AI's help has been fantastic. I'm also able to organize all of my university assignments, work responsibilities, and personal tasks in one program, and I like that I can keep these separate with different workspaces. I also love using the Notero plug-in to keep my reading organized in Notion.

Versatile but Challenging for Beginners
What do you like best about the product?
I find Notion incredibly easy to use for my brain, especially with dyslexia and ADHD, due to its layout and customizable settings. I love that I can use everything on my keyboard without needing to switch to a mouse, which streamlines my workflow. The Notion AI is a fantastic feature; it helps me automate the creation of databases, conduct research, and set up calendars with deadlines, which has been invaluable for my academic pursuits. I also appreciate how it can transcribe notes, allowing me to have both digital and handwritten records, which is particularly useful for writing papers and understanding lectures. Notion serves as a central hub for all my notes and personal projects, making it much easier to manage creative writing and PhD application tasks. Its ability to assist with research by connecting my Notion pages enhances the breadth of information I can access quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find Notion difficult for new users due to a challenging learning curve. While I got used to it, introducing it to others has been tough since people aren't willing to invest the time to learn it. I also think it's geared more towards businesses now, making it more expensive and less accessible for students or personal use, which might affect my continued use, especially with higher education in mind. Sharing pages and collaborating with others can also be problematic; it's often easier to switch back to Google Docs, which is more user-friendly and cost-effective. Additionally, I wish for better integration with other tools like Google Calendar and Gmail, which would streamline my workflow significantly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion assists me with organizing personal tasks and PhD applications, accommodates my ADHD and dyslexia with its adaptable features, and simplifies note-taking with AI, enhancing efficiency.
Complex Setup, But Exceptional Organizational Tool
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the convenience of having all my class notes, work, school, practicum, and personal stuff organized in one place with Notion. This consolidation makes it easier to manage and engage with my various responsibilities without having to keep multiple tabs open on my computer. The organization in Notion allows me to have everything I need in one spot, making it easier to focus on important aspects of my studies and work. I find it beneficial to record class sessions and have them supplement my notes, providing a comprehensive view and ensuring I don't miss key information. This feature is particularly useful as I can easily review recordings and notes to reinforce learning. I also value the way Notion helps me keep my classes organized, enabling me to efficiently get things done. Despite still being in the learning phase with Notion, it has been helpful in managing and organizing my tasks. Overall, the ability to fit various elements of my academic and personal life into one cohesive platform is a standout feature that I truly value.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found the setup of Notion to be quite difficult and really confusing. I didn't know what I was doing and tried a couple of times but it wasn't working. I still don't have a full grip on it, which was stressful, and ended up needing my friend who introduced it to me to set it up for me by doubling their space so that I could just edit and tweak theirs. Moreover, I think it would be better if Notion had an AI component that could assist in setting it up by automating tasks like creating spaces or organizing class syllabi, as I struggled with finding helpful tutorials.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find Notion helpful for consolidating all my school, work, and personal notes in one organized place, making it more convenient than Google Drive. Its recording and note-taking features let me focus and review better, keeping everything easily accessible.
Intuitive Note Organization with Powerful Relations, But Formula Limitations
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate how I can organize my notes in a way that feels intuitive for me, making it much easier to find what I need. The use of relation databases also helps me connect information in a way that feels more tangible and meaningful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think it would be really helpful if we could dot-walk through relations to retrieve values directly in formulas, instead of having to create roll-ups just to handle formula logic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing notes for multiple programs and projects

What do you like best about the product?
all the different functions that notion has to offer
What do you dislike about the product?
You can get lost with all the different channels
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
how to keep all works information together in one place
Centralized Knowledge Made Easy
What do you like best about the product?
Notion makes it so easy to consolidate our knowledge into a single database with actionable tags. The templates provide consistency to keep our team on the same page. We can easily locate documentation without duplicating or creating different versions with outdated information, which happens with many other tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Notion is very robust and if you want to get deep into its capabilities, you may need to review some online training and think carefully through what you want your pages to look like and how to setup permissioning if sharing anything with others.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need a central location for all of our business help documentations and database notes. Through Notion's features, tags, databases, and pages, we can easily make it a searchable one stop shop.
