Alphasense is great asset for my investment process!
What do you like best about the product?
Within my investment proces, Alphasense is really useful due to the following: 1) The layout of the central interface is very clear, as the user is able to see how many companies appear in a given word search, where in the filings the term/phrase occurred and the context of the term/phrase in the document. 2) The filters make it an efficient review, as I can exclude companies that are not relevant to my search. For example, I only look at companies in Europe and USA that trade >$20m ADV, so I can exclude companies that are not in my universe by filtering out those companies. Ultimately, this saves me time by not looking at companies I cannot look at as a potential investment opportunity. 3) The automated alerts are also helpful, as these help summarize new occurrences of my word search that are relevant. On a weekly basis, I get a summary of a word search term that is of interest to me. This helps summarize all of the relevant occurrences from new filings, which is easy to review. By being in an e-mail, I can review them on my phone on the way home from work.
What do you dislike about the product?
Based on my experience, the areas where Alphasense could improve are the following: 1) It would be helpful to have the ability to screen for insider buying/selling and be able to get a summary of insider transactions for a given company on a weekly basis just to identify any material changes. 2) It would be helpful for the product to provide blacklines for international (non-USA) companies. I find the USA blackline reports especially helpful, as I can quickly see what wording has changed from the previous filing. However, the blacklines appear to not be available for European companies. 3) Peer and larger customer information would be helpful to have on a concise screen. Some filings mention material (>10% of sales) customers. Therefore, it would be helpful to have a pre-arranged option to see the material customers for a given company. As this would be based on a word search, I think the preset option (i.e., material customers) would be possible to add as a feature to Alphasense.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My role is focused on identifying new investment opportunities for our clients. Part of my research process to identify new companies to review is to perform word searches that would imply the presence of certain characteristics at a company that I feel is a good predictor of potential pitfalls at a given company. During the initial screening process, I use AlphaSense to efficiently review filings of various companies that have these characteristics. The process is made more efficient by the various filtering variables (i.e., market cap, country, industry, filing types reviewed, etc.) that are available. Lastly, the layout is helpful, as it is clear where in the filings the searched for 'word' or 'phrase' occurred. Therefore, AlphaSense helps me to efficiently review multiple company filings, as part of my initial steps at identifying new investment opportunities that I can publish research on.
Helpful for large research reviews
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the smart summaries and the fact that the navigation is pretty intuitive for Alphasense. The customer support team is really helpful, and always reaches out when there is a new feature that they are rolling out. I would say I usually use Alphasense at least 1-2 times a week if not more.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not a huge fan of how laggy it can be sometimes, and at times it is difficult to download some documents.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves having to dig through press releases and earnings for companies in my market intelligence search. It saves me time and I am also more efficient from using it.
Easy-to-use, all-in-one platform that increases efficiency
What do you like best about the product?
It's a great platform that consolidates various sources of data, which is a massive time saver. The AI search & ability to export data/tables are also very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not entirely pleased with the new/recent rollout of vertical filters. I wish there were additional filtering options in the mobile app (e.g., sorting by custom date). Account support quality has slipped over the past couple of years, which has coincided with their (massive) growth.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Efficiency issues is the main problem that AlphaSense has helped solve
Great tool for monitoring the competitive landscape from every perspective
What do you like best about the product?
Having different dashboards for monitoring competitive events what ever it may be from a very broad array of sources such as company news, regulatory events, analysts' views or scientific publications is super helpful in ensuring we do not miss any important events. Daily reports are useful reminders and summaries of what is happening.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some minor improvements I would like to see in how the dashboards work, but the very responsive AlphaSense team has already taken note of that feedback.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping up-to-date with all developments in the competitive landscape. This allows us to ensure optimal positioning of our products now and in the future as well as to make informed decisions when we reach key milestones in product development.
Good for doing searches and trying to narrow down tables or charts
What do you like best about the product?
The ease with which you can get down to specific company documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
It sometimes just feels like a Google search.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to do a quick search on different topics (clinical trials or read-outs, for example).
Excellent resource for at-your-fingertips information
What do you like best about the product?
AlphaSense provides fast, reliable information. It helps make research more streamlined and saves me time in the process. The specific features and robustness of the AlphaSense platform set it apart from their competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
One output they provide is called SmartSummaries, which summarize key themes in transcripts. These often take content out of context and inaccurately summarize the information. Other than this issue, most painpoints are quickly addressed or fixed with a call to customer support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting information quickly via one central solution.
Top buyside research platform in the market
What do you like best about the product?
Alphasense has introduced many more features, including the integration of companies' financial data, LLM-powered search, LLM-powered research agent, a wide variety of prebuilt workflow agents, more private companies' data etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
Alphasense should continue to integrate more data so I can rely less on Bloomberg, such as more detailed market data as well as economics and macro data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before AlphaSense, my investment research process involves manual search on Google or through other sources. AlphaSense consolidates all of the sources and its search accuracy is much higher than Google.
Efficient platform that is a significant time saver, which great customer care
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of sourcing relevant compamny commentary on topics. The language recognition is very good. AlphaSense also rolled out some GenAI touches really quickly, like the smart summaries which are very good in my opinion. Also, the customer care is great with very fast responses. I use Alphasense several times a week. Implementation/integration is very straight forward as it is simply a login to their website platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not dislikes per se, but some things I dont find that useful are; 'expert calls' which rarely seem to have the level of detail i would find helpful. I also don't find the 'sentiment' measures very helpful. But perhaps it better suits other users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time required to find and collate inustry commentary on topics of interest
Excellent research platform continuing to expand offerings
What do you like best about the product?
AlphaSense provides a concise platform that has all the information I could possibly need all in one place. From research, to transcript, filings and general industry news, I am able to find anything I need and more quickly and concisely. The AI tools for keyword searches is incredibly accurate and often generates associated results I had not thought of searching for. I find the daily notification emails I've customized to be a great way to ensure I don't miss any relevant industry news. And then finally, whenever I encounter an issue (more often when I don't know how to perform a certain search), the support team is quick to respond and extremely knowledgeable.
What do you dislike about the product?
To be honest, the hardest part is just the vast accessibility of the information. You need to be thoughtful in your search to ensure you don't go down a tangential rabbit hole (which happens frequently). The two downsides to the program is the lack of an ability to auto-generate a PIB or other single document of consolidated information on public companies for senior leaders. Additionally, not having a more interactive SEC filing program that allows me to look across quarter / years / similar filings means that I have to maintain a separate subscription with Bamsec. That said, the we've been notified that AlphaSense is working to develop both these features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an investor relations and strategy professional, I use AlphaSense on a daily basis to monitor market sentiment, street analysis and competitor actions. Without AlphaSense, I would not be able to maintain a pulse on investors for our company nor would I be able to generate competitive insights for senior management and our board. Having all the reasearch tools I need in one place makes searches and data aggregation extremely easy.
