Limitless Potential
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about the Meltwater platform is that there is so much that you can do with it. Having an interface that searches the internet for the terms you set is amazing. Having a database of journalists to reach out to is also an amazing perk.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although it has so many features and there are so many things that you can do with it, that can also cause information overload and there is a large learning curve to using the platform. It has taken us a while to figure out we can make this platform work for us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem we are solving is that we are able to find articles and social posts that mention our company in them without tagging us. This is helping us make sure that our customers are having a great experience and that we are able to capitalize on mentions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you have specific goals that you want to accomplish with this platform. Talk to others who have used it and get their feedback.
Our eyes and ears
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful thing about Meltwater are the Morning Meltwater Reports. They help my team stay on top of mentions in the media and on social media. Meltwater acts as eyes and ears for our brand.
What do you dislike about the product?
The least helpful thing are the Competitive Report emails. The graphs are too small and unhelpful in email format.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater has helped my team stay up-to-date with what our faculty and students are up to, helping us control messaging and spread awareness.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you like staying ahead of competitors and being more aware of your brand's reach then use Meltwater.
Account reps are always helpful and keep us up-to-date with new product offerings

extra cost to view for certain articles - our current contract includes postmedia premium content yet we are never able to view the full-text,

Meltwater provides us with a one-stop-shop for media monitoring and media relations
Reliable Reporting
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has some excellent reporting functions which enable me to not only showcase our results, but also present them in a manner that is presentation ready for our senior leadership team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the functionality might be a bit more intuitive to use, but once you understand the nuances of the site, it is straightforward to manage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the problem of being under resourced in our media relations department, so the Meltwater platform helps us to achieve more with less.
Identify the potential through media
What do you like best about the product?
The Meltwater search is perfect and the user can easily configure the control panel. Daily I create content proactively, I inform myself about everything they say about the content and get a real-time view of each story published.
What do you dislike about the product?
Renew this platform not only allow access to create a list or note of a contact but also use it as a CRM.Meltwater must create an option where an audio, a press mention or the work I do is downloaded through a clip.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our company has many objectives one of them is to focus on finding media contacts in specific markets that we want to conquer and thanks meltwater we do it in a satisfactory way. It is an application full of great excellence in monthly press releases for each of the journalists and editors.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Melwater has the best search engine magnifier for specific articles for social networks. We also keep track of each of the media where we launch our large campaign launches.
Collected mentions of government official for building media reports
What do you like best about the product?
The automatic collection of mentions on all sorts of media allowed us to easily build media reports daily for our PR records and flag any bad press right away.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes we would get irrelevant mentions in the reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowed us to build media reports more efficiently than having to sift through Google manually for mentions.

Great way to speed up and automate your media monitoring operations.
Mediocre product
What do you like best about the product?
Publications which can be attracted are nice. Different sources are easy to add. Easy to use interface so easy to get started with, I learned it in about 2 days.
What do you dislike about the product?
UI very poor and visually unattractive, definitely not up to 2019 standards. Boolean cannot be overwritten.

Not really advise on this product, quite mediocre for what it does.
Run far away.
What do you like best about the product?
If you're looking for very BASIC PR reporting/monitoring, this tool may be for you.
What do you dislike about the product?
Where do I begin...data coming into the platform is often times not accurate, or missing entirely. Even top-tier media placements. Customer Service/Account Management is lacking -- don't expect anyone there to help you with getting things set up, aside from the customer support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
None. In fact, it creates more work for me as their platform is extremely limited and they miss metrics/placements entirely.
Basic service | Deceptive membership renewal practices
What do you like best about the product?
The interface is easy to use and easy to learn. There were no issues rolling this out to multiple users in our firm for basic searches and tracking media mentions of the firm and our projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall when compared to using simple Google alerts for topics and media related to my firm, Meltwater was outperformed by the free service. When we let Meltwater know that we were interested in cancelling because of this performance issue, they deceptively asked that we wait to cancel, implying that our renewal date was several months away. In fact, in was much closer and we passed the deadline to opt out of renewal. This renewal policy was not published anywhere that was easy to find but rather, is buried in a page on the internet, reachable by a link deep in our contract in fine print. We missed the official cancellation date because we were issued a final invoice the day after that deadline - when I challenged the invoice explaining it should have been clear we were cancelling our service, the response was that we hadn't stated that clearly in writing before the 60 day window in advance of our renewal date. In fact, my challenge was on day 59 before our “cancellation date” but this fell on deaf ears. The 60-day window was another detail intentionally withheld when we called and emailed several times to complain about the service and express out intent to cancel. After weeks of "negotiation" we were threatened with legal action if we didn't compromise and spend an additional $2000 (as opposed to the $8000 they wanted us to pay for the year) to extend our contract partially through the end of the year.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I inherited this system when I joined a firm. I was aware of Meltwater and had never previously found a need for its services which seemed less effective than my experience using a PR person or team, Google alerts and/or reaching out on my own to find publication opportunities. This was confirmed over the past several months.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do not consider this service. Beyond their shady membership and renewal process, they are poor communicators, practiced sales people thinking of their bottom line, and unreasonable in fielding dissatisfaction from customers. You can search the web for hundreds more stories from customers who feel duped and/or dissatisfied with performance.
easier than some legacy tools
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is very customizable and it does make a nice, easy report you can export with minimal effort
What do you dislike about the product?
This is a problem in every tool I have ever used, but you always end up deleting a ton of irrelevant mentions manually.
