Not worth the purchase
What do you like best about the product?
It is nice to get a morning email with all of the coverage for your clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not feel as though it is worth what I pay. It misses many, many hits that google does not. It also does not add value to our teams work. It is not clear how to use it either.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it to track our media hits.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Not worth it unless you have no other option.

What do you like best about the product?
The platform is updated, and easy to navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most Meltwater people are very pushy when it comes to sales, and they act like they're doing you a favor by ALLOWING you to use the service, even though you're a paying customer.

Media monitoring, social monitoring

What do you like best about the product?
Nothing comes to mind. We signed a one year contract, were unhappy, and were forced into a second year.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their estimations/calculations for ad value and circulation were so overblown and unrealistic that they were unusable. We also fell prey to their auto-renewal policy, which was of course buried in the fine print and not discussed until it was too late.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We discontinued our relationship with Meltwater years ago, after using them for media monitoring. I did not realize any benefits that I remember.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It has been a while since we used them, but we do not have happy memories. Although we still get calls every year that they have made modifications, I will never use them again, for this or any other company.
functionality could use some work
What do you like best about the product?
I’m a previous user of this software who has been with a different software for year now. I would say this is one of the two best media monitoring platforms out there. Coverage is pretty good, media contacts are decent.
What do you dislike about the product?
I always found it difficult to send press releases from Meltwater. I tended to export the emails and send them myself. I found the functionality in general to be a little bit more difficult to use in the platform more confusing than the competitor that I use now. The charts and graphs are very tiny and hard to see and understand. Thus, they are pretty useless to me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed a better way to distribute monthly media clips about our business to our C suite and managers. The newsletter feature enabled me to do that. I selected the clips I wanted and it puts them in a nice, easy to read email branded with our logo and sends it straight from the platform but it looks like it came from my email.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Meltwater allows you to find obscure coverage that may not be in Google news.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes Meltwater doesn't pick up coverage from mainstream news publications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're finding more coverage in trade publications and obscure news sites.

What do you like best about the product?
Helpful support, amazing tracking tools, easily stores clips, the newsletter clip sharing option .... Meltwater is amazing.
What do you dislike about the product?
It isn't as intuitive in some aspects, but they offer training that is really helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We track and monitor our clips, but have also started using it for social tracking.
Useful but not directly for my job

It helped us track social media mentions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I kept asking the representative how it would be useful for a journalist such as myself beyond social media listening, and he said it would be useful to find popular keywords for stories. While technically true, there are much less expensive ways to do so.

It's good to see where our viewers are getting our content.
Great for Ad Hoc Social Listening within Twitter

Great at seeing third party connection to conversation sources and extremely helpful in planning media and content based on historical volume

Really only reliable on Twitter, and extremely expensive for one log in . Also has a limited capability to deduce out paid from organic

Social listening, organic conversation growth, micro influencer identification through conversation spread
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You need to know Boolean search to operate the platform at full force, otherwise the software will pull in searches that are not relevant
Does the job
What do you like best about the product?
I like the visual data that is aggregated (i.e. word cloud, buzz graph, geography, etc). I like the "listen" function as I can mentions, top influencers, total mentions, share of voice, and can filter out my search results by various different filters. Sometimes we want to just look at what stakeholders in the US are saying or just see conversations happening on one platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I believe the general "search" function can be enhanced. In my opinion, it's not as robust as the listening functon, which I'm sure is done purposefully. I also wish there was a way to cut out some of the "noise" in the search results as the queries don't always sift things out as much as we would like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to track and analyze what our client's stakeholders are most interested in and what topics they are vocal about the most. It also helps to show which stakeholders are the most influential. We use this content to help with a monthly newsletter which has received rave reviews from our client's colleagues and other higher ups. It has also helped us to see that although there are stories in the media that may be important to the industry, these are not always conversation drivers for our client's stakeholders on social media.
