Efficient Media Software With Excellent Client Service
What do you like best about the product?
The client service aspect and capacity to troubleshoot is excellent. I have experienced outstanding responsiveness and a willingness to remedy issues as they arise. The account rep assigned to my organization is thoughtful and analytical and very familiar with the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have only been using the system for several months, so am still learning how to maximize the options.
But one aspect that has been quirky is the formatting program; it seems a bit challenging to modify text.
With a Word doc one can very easily modify text, but with this platform, things take more steps to do the same modifications. I have mentioned this to our account rep and understand they are looking into it.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We began Meltwater with few an insubstantial press/media contact lists. In consultation with our account rep, we were able to identify target segments and create several new lists to serve our needs. Also, we were able to integrate our existing media lists into the program to augment what was there. Another thing that was helpful is that Meltwater staff set up a press release template for our organization so I can simply duplicate it each time I need to send a press release, eliminating the need to do a new set-up (design) each time.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
-Ask questions about the media resources for your target industry. Meaning, does Meltwater have journalists and outlets who cover this field?
-Prepare to migrate your media contact lists to Meltwater by having them available to your account rep if you need help for this.
-Set up a template press release (or whatever your purpose of using Meltwater will be) so you can duplicate it for each send and not have to set it up anew each time.
-Add your own email to all your lists so you will receive whatever you send out.

Meltwater Engage's inbox is great, and the way customer service teams can integrate

Sometimes platform doesn't keep up with the new features added to Facebook/Twitter

I use Meltwater for tracking eMarketer's mentions in the media.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to sort the media into lists, such as tier 1 and tier 2.
What do you dislike about the product?
The website is difficult to navigate. The steps needed to complete often simple tasks are not intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to track our mentions and separate them into categories, so I can see which types of outlets have cited us and in what countries/regions.
This product is easy to navigate and customize for our purposes.

The customer service I receive from my Meltwater representative.

The number of entries I receive in my daily report can be several hundred.

The ability to track mentions of our corporate name and brand product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the time to speak with a member of the Meltwater team. They are extremely knowledgeable and can customize their services to meet your needs. They are also responsive and supportive once you are a customer.
The experience has been an upgrade for media monitors.

The news captured for my clients and the time it saves me while monitoring.

Some articles do not get picked up by Meltwater, especially those that are behind a paywall.

We are able to send analytics and save time monitoring for articles by having the software do it for us.

This is a great product to use in PR. It saves time as well helps find the best opportunities for clients. Highly recommended.
Meltwater makes my life a lot easier!
What do you like best about the product?
I like using Meltwater news the most. I like that the contacts automatically update when there has been turnover in a position. I also like how easy it is to send press releases out through the system.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the press releases hit spam, but I always follow up anyway with reporters to make sure they see the press releases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm a one man show, so Meltwater helps me save time by keeping up with my contact list and reporting. The reporting system saves me HOURS of work.

What do you like best about the product?
Usability, nice platform, easier to navigate than Cision. Love the daily digest and newsletter function. I like the descriptions of the reporters and the feature that shows what they have recently written and links to their twitter pages

Don'y like that you can't search by beat within a certain news outlet. Don't think the metrics are great.

Worth a try.
Overall, Meltwater has been a very valuable tool in our media relations and outreach efforts.

the easy-to-navigate database of reporters and the media monitoring service. These are the two functions we use the most.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like the new platform to make it easier to generate excel spreadsheets of reporters. The previous version was more user-friendly in my opinion.

Our main challenge is to get our research in front of the appropriate reporters and outlets and keeping up with the ever-shifting media landscape.

1) It allows us to keep a pulse on our market. What are people saying, what are our competitors doing, and how far is our reach? I love getting my daily report email that shows all of the news mentions of my company.

The product portfolio is pretty large and my team currently uses one product. Understanding how their products fit and work together is something that I think could be better portrayed.

Ask them to share with you the whole picture of what they can do with their products and how they integrate and work with each other.

Great customer support. Easy to search for keywords for media articles and what I like most when it comes to media monitoring is easy to setup filters for media outlets.
What do you dislike about the product?
Good for filtering out unwanted media outlets but when it comes to exploring all media doesn't necessarily capture the most comprehensive news compared to Google. A bit slow on computer, doesn't have the most updated influencer information. Media filtering is somewhat clunky to use

All in one place for media targeting and media monitoring. Because of media outlet filters, saves time as you don't need to individually search those sites.
