Teleport
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to set up and use, easy to share device access and permissions with colleagues. Easiest way we have found to enable secure and compliant access to devices on customer sites.
What do you dislike about the product?
Updating to a newer version seems to come with the risk of orphaning devices in the field.
We are having issues on one machine where it continually asks for the user to log in. This seems to have been down to the method of installation (via apt)

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use teleport to securely access devices and applications deployed on customer sites, through reverse SSH tunnels and the application interface. We are now also starting to look at using the database connectors
Comprehensive authentication and access control solution with some administrative challenges
What do you like best about the product?
Teleport is a well-rounded solution, with specific high points in the number and type of resources it can manage, the product's scalability, the vast number of plugins it can use for user access control, and the product's modularity.
The CLI experience is fantastic, and the UI - including the http server, the access control rules, and the simple configuration files, make the initial setup simple.

What do you dislike about the product?
When using the on-prem solution - which is ideal from an end compliance perspective - It works best when you have a team with a dedicated resource or resources to manage the teleport infrastructure and user access. While this is well documented, the solution's modularity means it's also a bit complicated to get up and running. Maintenance requires someone at least familiar with the product, and there's a steep learning curve.
The OSS product has also gotten less powerful as Teleport has reduced its scope to add more value to the enterprise product. This is understandable, but my team has slowly reduced our Teleport footprint as we don't want to invest the money in the enterprise solution for small-scale solutions more efficiently served by in-house solutions or VPN based access control.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Teleport to restrict and manage access to internal resources in our cloud product with easy and scalable provisioning for automated deployment. The included audit log and CLI access mean we don't need a secondary auditing solution.
Must have tool in any production scale infrastructure
What do you like best about the product?
It just works! Made is so easy to connect to k8s clusters, internal applications, databases, sshing to instances.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really comes to mind. Keep doing a good work! Maybe, add more use cases in documentation. Simplify the upgrade process for new releases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Help for more granular access management for internal apps, clusters, databases.
Having Audit logs and recorded sessions and skip the need for VPN.

Intuitive software needs
What do you like best about the product?
Wide selection of software options and analytics of use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing at this time. I believe the software offered and website are great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SSO authentication.
Integrated teleport in all of our Kubernetes clusters
What do you like best about the product?
It really just works.
Honestly we use it for the auditing capabilities and not only does that well but it also records a terminal session.

What do you dislike about the product?
No SSO/SAML in the OSS version. See SSO.tax
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Permissioned, transparent access to Postgres and Kubernetes
Easy, efficient, and secure
What do you like best about the product?
My organization really appreciates that we can have very straightforward authn/authz with RBAC in front of our cloud and on-prem resources using Teleport. Deployment on Kubernetes using the official helm chart is a breeze. Setting up agents on Kubernetes using the helm chart is a breeze. Setting up agents on ordinary Linux machines is a breeze. The guided setup for resources like RDS is phenomenal. It's all so easy!
We love having access to the audit logs and controlling access to internal systems, especially databases, without needing to poke holes in firewalls/security groups. The user experience is pretty fantastic when Teleport Connect is used. It's much more straightforward than having a business user generate an SSH key, keep it secure, and remember to set up a tunnel through a bastion host whenever they want to connect to internal resources.
The frequency of meaningful updates to Teleport is excellent. The Teleport team works diligently to stay on top of the security concerns around a platform such as this. I also appreciate that the Teleport web UI indicates when a new version is available, making security updates particularly noticeable.

What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, I don't have anything bad to say about Teleport. We have been using the self-hosted open-source version for a few months on Kubernetes, and it has been rock solid. We don't have it configured for high availability, so when we apply updates, our users can experience a brief interruption in access. However, that is certainly not a problem with Teleport itself. We haven't taken the time to meet the requirements for a proper highly available cluster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Teleport secures access to specific resources for specific users with short-lived access credentials. We can see who performed what action against which resource and when they did it. It's glorious!
great tool with lots of possibilities
What do you like best about the product?
Teleport has been great in helping us make things easier to manage and more secure. So simple to set up!
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really comes to mind yet. I've been able to complete the tasks that I needed a solution for, hasn't given me much trouble so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It makes it easier for us to connect and manage machines that we deploy out in the field. Prior to Teleport it was a tedious task that was prone to errors and other issues.
Great Product
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, and makes my job easier performing higher value tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing comes to mind at this time. The addition of new features to keep the product fresh over time will be nice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Makes it easier to login to my apps without having to store everything.
Teleport - Compliance and Security Made Easy
What do you like best about the product?
Teleport allows you to control remote access and permissions with MFA and SAML Integration. Its features make compliance a breeze with the ability to log and record sessions and provide granular resource access while efficiently administering user changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
While super helpful, Teleport has significant upfront configuration implications, and I encourage anyone contemplating a demo or deployment of teleport not to take this lightly and test test test to get the SSL and network security correct.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to control, log, and record user access to our production environment. This is critical for security and compliance purposes in our organization. By integrating our SAML provider, we can efficiently administer access while completing our compliance obligations.
More Secure VPN alternative and fantastic product and team!
What do you like best about the product?
The product works great. It's easy to implement, maintain, and will grow with us. The DX and UX is fantastic. The support is stellar. We're using Teleport cloud and saving a ton of time and money while also improving our security posture.
What do you dislike about the product?
The adoption internally took some strong strategic communication and documentation. A change of this magnitude is company-wide, so that makes sense. Teleport support helped!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is more secure than what we were doing before. It provides us with a single pane of glass to manage all remote resource access needs. We can work from any where, including mobile devices using Teleport Connect, and the experience is painless, fast, and familiar.
