Stress-free database management
What do you like best about the product?
As I developer, I'm proficient with interacting with databases and integrating them with our custom apps. However, I don't have a background in database hosting and management. Aiven bridges that gap and allows me to focus on what I'm good at, while handling the areas I lack experience with.
There have only been a few minor hiccups over the past few years, and their customer support stepped in to help quickly resolve the issues.

What do you dislike about the product?
Support can be somewhat pushy in regards to upgrading to the next tier of service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our small business relies on custom apps to optimize our workflow, but we don't have any staff with an extensive database management background. Aiven handles that part for us, so we can simply use the database without worrying about a server, maintanence, etc.

Highly Recommend Aiven
What do you like best about the product?
Before signing upto Aiven, i had a video chat with 2 of the Aiven team who went through how to setup an account through to creating a new postgresql database and where to find the settings, logging etc. Since the video chat, i have now signed up Aiven and created a new database very quickly and was up and running firing a migration to a test database within a few minutes.
When platforms generally say something is easy, take a few minutes i am scepticle, but Aiven was true to their word, it was very easy to setup.

What do you dislike about the product?
Have not found anything not to like with Aiven as yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We currently have an On-Premise database server which feeds an internal billing system and customer facing website. So moving the database to Aiven removes the database server. We also needed a service that was managed to eliminate the need and worry about patching and maintenance and having an Australian Region here in Sydney was a bonus aswell as local support by people nit bots.
Enterprise grade solution, professional service, startup friendly
What do you like best about the product?
Aiven not only provides a really effortless to set-up, highly flexible to customise and incredibly robust to operate platform but also offers white-glove support and customer service. They understand, appreciate and tailor their approach to start-up's needs and wants, which is invaluable.
What do you dislike about the product?
To be perfectly honest, nothing comes to mind aside from slight confusion in pronouncing Aiven:)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streaming data into our algorithms in an effortless, efficient and cost-effective way. They are the best-in-class in all those aspects.
Migrating to Aiven from CloudSQL stabilized our critical database workloads
What do you like best about the product?
We have great support and engagement from Aiven's engineers and customer support. They have gone above and beyond helping us with tests for disaster recovery and HA testing. We primarily use Aiven's Postgres offering, and they support tons of extensions and foreign data wrappers. Their datadog integration is turn key and provides good metrics out-of-the-box. I've really enjoyed working with their CLI tool and APIs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like there is still room for improvement with their HA. A lot of it is DNS-based, so for our workload and applications, we still have some problems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deploying and running long-lived production workloads.
Creating and destroying test environments.

Simplest setup
What do you like best about the product?
The simplest setup to try and run managed services, with very competitive prices.
I have been using services from Aiven for 5 years already. There were very few times where we had issues. They were annoying and caused problems, but they were very limited too. The positive side is that staff was always helpful in these and any other situations. While there was (is) not a good and formal ticketing and escalation procedure, support engineers do take the time to debug issues with showing a good understanding of the underlying platform and are willing to help troubleshoot issues (sometimes caused from our side).
Other than those small issues, I highly recommend Aiven!

What do you dislike about the product?
Some services (e.g. influxdb) appear to have received less attention to others in terms of integrations. For example, some advertised plugins for metrics and observability apply to most services... except InfluxDB (and maybe some others).
Also, support did not have a format ticketing system that one could use externally -- only email. This appears to be changing this month, so it may be a comment for the past 5 years only.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No need to setup and maintain services for a cloud platform. Fully managed solutions. It largely simplified our deployments.
Best Cloud Database Platform I've Used
What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Aiven for me is how easy it is to use. In my experience as a DevOps engineer, I've worked with many managed database platforms. Aiven has by far been the quickest to setup. It really is a one click setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that sometimes is a concern when using Aiven is that it can be a bit pricey. However, it scales well so it is still good value for money.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Aiven quickens the database deployment and management process. It saves a lot of time compared to other services, which require a lot of manual input such as exposing the right ports. Another big advantage is also the variety of server locations it offers, as we require our data to be stored in specific regions
Fast and easy setup
What do you like best about the product?
Great tool for prototyping ideas. Effortless setup process saves time and energy for more business related tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not so much. Everything seems to work great. Thanks for streamilning and simplifying what I find least intuitive part of creating back end services.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It streamlines process of creating back end service and makes prototyping ideas faster.

What do you dislike about the product?
Aiven abstracts most of the underlying infrastructure management, which can be both an advantage and a drawback. However, engineers with more experience may desire more control over Kafka configurations and cluster settings, which is not possible.
The logs for Kafka Connect are not separated per connector, making it difficult to retrieve logs for a specific connector.
Sometimes, the Aiven User Interface can be buggy, particularly when it comes to Kafka connectors. These connectors may display incorrect statuses, causing confusion and potential issues.
