A all-you-need-in-one CAD suite
What do you like best about the product?
Onshape is a powerful CAD platform, easy to use when you have knowledge of other CAD softwares. Its real-time editing allows multiple users to work together, and is it's real plus. The software's version control needs a bit of time to understand but works well. As a cloud based platform, you can access it with any device
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve is quite steep at the beginning. You need a fast internet connection to be able to work, which can be a bit underwhelming. The simulation options are very limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
General CAD design
Excellent, flexible CAD software
What do you like best about the product?
Constant updates, great online documentation and tutorials
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacks the refinement of larger CAD packages in some areas.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onshape's cloud-first approach means we don't have to worry about version control and data management!
Fast & Flexible CAD
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to communicate with your team and have multiple people in a document.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hard to get other Vendors using it in Asia. Need more support options or a training class that will walk them through the features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Putting our CAD in the cloud. This allows us to work onsite or remotely with no issues.
Easy to Use, Easy to Upgrade, and Ever-Expanding Capabilities
What do you like best about the product?
Often updated with new features without lifting a finger. Everyday it becomes even more valuable.
What do you dislike about the product?
In sharing with unlicensed users, have no control over the link. Anyone with the link can get the free access, and no way to take away that access if sharing for a one-time access, or with a vendor, so cannot safely share outside of the business.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Inventor had slow access to our server that IT could not fix. OnShape is faster and allows for colaboration in real time. Upgrades were delayed because always waiting for the last release to get all the bugs out, and IT made it a huge headache. OnShape upgrades are immediate and seamless. I never know there is an upgrade unless I see the announcement. SolidWorks can easily lose hours of work, even when checked in and out often, and so far, with OnShape we haven't lost any data or changes. The responsiveness when we had issues is amazing, and they have already incorporated new features that we've suggested.
Efficient, streamlined and organised
What do you like best about the product?
Everything is centralised which makes it easier to keep track of it. Its easy to use and even easier to export. The help centre is great. They usually reply withing a day or maybe even the next. The interface is clear and the 3D and 2D visuals. I like the way the drawings are made easy with the inserting of views. I use it on a daily basis and use it inteseively.
What do you dislike about the product?
When making drawings, it needs to be more like any other CAD software. I guess Onshape is working on that still but it needs some time to get used to. Sometimes the document can be laggy which makes it a bit frustrating to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralising all drawings into 1 folder and all the assemblies that can be integrated into each other.
Incredible Software For Engineers
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility it gives me by being available on all devices without installation requirements. Ease of use and great features.
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't have all the features Solidworks has, but new ones are being added
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to work remotely and on any computer I have available
A game changer in ways you didn't know it would
What do you like best about the product?
Everything in the one place. Simple to sign in and get going. Never crashes. Share your work.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is sometimes too lean and therefore things are a little bit hidden at first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bringing the whole department and stakeholders around the CAD table, to make it easier and faster to work together.
Productive
What do you like best about the product?
Real time online collaboration and easy BOM management
What do you dislike about the product?
Cannot be used if there's no internet connection
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have a lot of submitted tickets and I cannot enumerate here one by one. But so far, the technical support is very responsive every time I have a support ticket
Fast and easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Automatic saving and versioning. Multiple parts in one part studio. Continued and frequent updates. processing power over server.
What do you dislike about the product?
branching and versioning quite different from other CAD software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
quickly create parts and have the linked parts flow throughout the full design. easy to visualise.
Exciting new take on CAD and PDM
What do you like best about the product?
I love the git control built into onshape.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't enjoy moving current drawing templates into onshape. It is a very cumbersome process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It greatly improves collaboration which speed up design iterations.
