CAD Redefined
What do you like best about the product?
There is no question on how impressive Onshape is, but when I first got my hands on it in their early release, I was amazed about the idea of CAD in the cloud. I believe the organic, hassle free idea is truly the most powerful feature. Not being worried about licensing, software version compatibility, hardware, storage and upgrade is the key thing that attracted me. The whole nature of CAD in the cloud is by itself extraordinary, because this is a production ready technology to address real world problems in an industry that is extremely demanding about precision, efficiency and versatility. So no doubt two of my colleagues and I got in touch with Onshape company and brought to Portugal College of Art and Design to be the first implementing it widely in the official curriculum and today all our students of Product Design enjoy the new horizon for CAD.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well sometimes I miss multi perspective views in one environment, but I can simply open another browser with the same user and enable another view as well, even on another monitor if I want. Nothing major though, but that would be all, it is a pretty solid technology.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Product Design, CAD, 3D Idea Storm.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to think differently when engaging Onshape. Just consider it a new thing, don´t try to bring SolidWorks "this and that" or Rhino, Alias, etc.
Understand this is a new software, with new workflows and new ideas so embrace the new, challenge yourself to adapt and enjoy the new concept behind working with CAD in the cloud, but the great thing is that the solid modeling workflow is there with all its principals.
You won´t regret the change!
Highly recommended.

OnShape is a great cloud based CAD system.
What do you like best about the product?
OnShape is an amazing web browser based CAD program. It does most everything you have come to expect from CAD. Part modeling is simple and easy to pick up. There are great tutorials to get started fast. Version control is built into the page and makes design history research snap. You can compare versions and see what changed very easily. They are updating things all the time and making it better every month.
The mobile app is real and you can design parts on your ipad very easily. If you every want to show a model to someone all you need to do is share it and they can see the exact model. There is an awesome app store that lets you use extensions to aid you with different things that you might need with your design process.

What do you dislike about the product?
I think the iphone app is a little difficult to use. Menus get in the way a bit but doesn't hurt it too bad.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CAD design for products, easy collaboration with vendors and manufacturers. It is super easy to work and collaborate on a model in real time even if you are in a different country.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
OnShape is easy to use and pick up if you have used any 3D cad. It can run on any platform as long as you have internet connectivity. It is also free to use up to a file size with nothing cut out or locked up. It is a no brainer to at least try out. You'll love it and enjoy every minute of it.
