Perfect CAD Starter: Intuitive, Beginner-Friendly, and Easy to Master
What do you like best about the product?
Extremely easy for a beginner to pick up and start working. Easy to learn with lots of ground to master. Serves as an excellent tool for those who want to begin CAD. UI is straightforward with appropriate symbols that more or less depict functions well when comapred to a handful of tools I have used so far.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is hard to immediately define what I dislike. This served as a gateway to a lot of other CAD softwares that I do not particularly see it employed in companies. I wish there was more outreach for SolidEdge, which is not a fault but a compliment from my side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
An excellent tool that I recommend my students and peers to pick up for ease in collaborating since I work with creating products that sometimes I give design freedom to.
Effortless Design Reuse, Boosts Consistency
What do you like best about the product?
I like how Designcenter Solid Edge turns reuse into a normal part of the workflow, making it easy to grab the right part quickly without breaking my flow. It offers fast 'find and drop' reuse, allowing for preview before committing, which enhances consistency across projects and maintains momentum under time pressure. Additionally, it makes 'company standards' easier to follow, is excellent for repeat subassemblies—not just single parts—and it results in less file opening and context switching. I also find that it supports clean handoffs and quietly reduces errors.
What do you dislike about the product?
A few things that commonly don't feel as smooth with Designcenter Solid Edge, especially once your libraries get big: Search and filtering can feel limited, it's only as good as the library behind it, version control and revisions can still be tricky, performance can dip with network libraries, UI can feel a bit utilitarian.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designcenter Solid Edge helps me reuse existing design content efficiently, preventing unnecessary remodeling. It simplifies workflow integration, improves consistency across projects, and reduces errors, ensuring faster and smoother design processes.
User-Friendly, Cost-Effective, and Lightning Fast Editing
What do you like best about the product?
good user friendly interface, cost effective software, very fast software also flexible for editing, very good for manufacturing oriented design as well as electrical design
What do you dislike about the product?
less customization of UI, wile opening large files face issue like software slow down a bit, sometimes creating files size are large, suppose if in need of extensive simulation then we can not do it in software

this is 3D modeling software so we got more machine related features in this software, also this software is very easy to understanding, anyone can access this like professionals as well as students

What I dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge is that some advanced features can feel less intuitive at first and require extra time to learn. The user interface is powerful but can become crowded, which sometimes slows down navigation when working on large and detailed projects.

Designcenter Solid Edge helps me handle complex modeling tasks more efficiently by giving me a clear workflow for creating accurate parts and assemblies. It reduces the time I spend on repetitive adjustments and helps me spot design issues much earlier. This benefits me by making my work faster, more organized, and far more reliable when developing engineering solutions.

The main downside of Designcenter Solid Edge is that certain advanced features can feel slightly hidden or require a steeper learning curve, especially for new users transitioning from other CAD platforms. Some workflows could be more streamlined, and occasional compatibility issues with files from other CAD programs can disrupt collaboration. Additionally, system performance may slow down with extremely large assemblies unless the hardware is very strong. While these aren’t deal-breakers, they are areas that could benefit from refinement.

Designcenter Solid Edge helps streamline our entire design-to-production workflow by reducing time spent on manual modeling, rework, and file management. I like that Designcenter Solid Edge provides a very flexible environment and is easy to use. It's also great for designing and bringing my ideas to reality.

For first time not that easy to setup the app but as time goes became much familiar and easy.

I use Designcenter Solid Edge for solving everyday mechanical and electrical problems. It's a very flexible environment and easy to use.

the libraries and the package it includes are outstanding and make me design and work what i want without any limit, at the same time it points me out always to look another perspective.
What do you dislike about the product?
it always require high level computer which makes me wait long for one click and sometimes a very long wait would force the software to close from nowhere.

what I am benefiting from the solid edge mostly is data management . It enables me to migrate and share the data that are included in my design from different source.

It liberates me from the constraints of history-based design by allowing fast and flexible design changes without breaking the model. This capability is especially beneficial when working with imported files that lack feature history, as I can manipulate models directly for rapid revisions. Solid Edge excels in stability and speed, which is particularly noticeable when working with large assemblies that previously slowed down or crashed other programs. The software’s ability to handle complex mechanical and electrical design, along with integrated simulation for strength, stress, and flow analysis, within a single environment drastically reduces prototyping costs and minimizes the risk of late-stage failures. This integrated simulation means I don’t waste time exporting designs to separate analysis tools, which streamlines my workflow significantly. Moreover, Synchronous Technology allows me to make instantaneous, geometry-driven changes without worrying about model history or complex constraints, which facilitates rapid prototyping and helps me meet tight deadlines. Whether dealing with revisions or managing external data, Synchronous Technology provides unmatched speed, versatility, and direct interaction with 3D models, even with files from different CAD systems. The integration with other Siemens tools like Teamcenter X for Product Lifecycle Management and data integrity, alongside compatibility with specialized CAM software, makes it a comprehensive solution for my engineering needs. What do you dislike about the product?
I find that there are a few areas in Designcenter Solid Edge that could be improved to enhance the overall user experience. Firstly, the learning resources and community support are lacking; the availability of high-quality, free, community-driven learning resources is limited, which makes it hard for new users to overcome the steep learning curve. Although Siemens offers excellent official training, it could be more accessible. Secondly, the sheet metal flat pattern annotation in drafting phases can be cumbersome, with generating fully annotated flat patterns requiring more manual adjustments than I'd like. Enhancements in automation for creating manufacturing-ready annotations would be beneficial. Lastly, the initial setup and configuration of integrated cloud data management via Teamcenter X poses challenges. The process is complex and requires significant administrative effort. A more streamlined, user-guided 'Quick Start' wizard would simplify this setup for small-to-medium businesses. While the software's base functionality is strong, these usability and accessibility enhancements would greatly benefit users.

New Revision Tables Are a Game-Changer for Our Team

I think the new revision tables will be extremely useful for my team. At the moment, we have to create these tables manually, and they are frequently missed. I appreciate that this feature has been added—thank you.

At the moment, I can't find anything to dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge. I believe that having more options is always a good thing, so I welcome them all.
