Intuitive 3D Modeling with Powerful Tools, but UI and Integration Need Refinement

  • October 21, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge offers a very intuitive 3D modeling environment with powerful parametric and synchronous design tools. It’s efficient for both part and assembly design, and the integration with simulation and drafting is seamless. I also appreciate how stable the software is, even with large assemblies. The learning curve is reasonable, and once you get used to the interface, it’s very fast to work with.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the advanced features can be difficult to locate without experience, and the user interface could be modernized in certain areas. The software can also feel a bit heavy on less powerful machines. Integration with some external PLM or CAD tools could be smoother, and updates occasionally require manual adjustments to templates or settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge helps streamline the entire mechanical design process — from concept modeling to detailed drawings and simulations. It significantly reduces the time needed for design iterations and allows for easy modification of existing parts through synchronous technology. The built-in simulation and drafting tools ensure better design validation and documentation, which helps minimize errors before production. Overall, it improves collaboration and design accuracy in engineering projects.

Great for CAD Beginners, but Lacks Advanced Features

  • October 15, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its an accessible software for CAD begginers with a lot of online support. The interface is intuitive and has all the basic modeling functions that all CAD software has. I highly available in academia. Has FEA and shape optimization modules which is a plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacks advanced modeling and sketching functions that other CAD software has, this makes using this software more tedious and time consuming. Compared to NX(CAD from same company) it feel incomplete and as a downgrade.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid edge presents a CAD solution for an accessible price to smaller companies that need to do mechanical design, product developemnt, and manufacturing.

Effortless 3D Modeling with Solid Edge's Synchronous Technology

  • October 14, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Solid Edge is how powerful and flexible it is for 3D design. The synchronous technology makes editing parts really easy I can change dimensions or features without worrying about breaking the model. It also handles large assemblies smoothly and has great built-in simulation tools, so I can test my designs before production. Overall, it saves a lot of time and makes the design process much more efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Solid Edge is that it can feel a bit heavy when working on large or complex projects. Sometimes it takes longer to load big assemblies or detailed models. The learning curve is also a little steep at first, so new users might need some time to get comfortable with all the tools and features. Other than that, it’s a great program once you get used to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge helps solve the problem of managing complex designs and engineering workflows in one place. It makes it easier to create, edit, and test 3D models without needing multiple programs. The simulation and analysis tools save time and reduce the need for physical prototypes, which cuts costs. It also helps keep designs organized and consistent across teams, making collaboration smoother and improving overall productivity.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the integration between 3D modeling, simulation, and drafting in one environment. It helps maintain consistency across the entire workflow—from concept to manufacturing drawings. Also, the sheet metal and assembly tools are very user-friendly and save a lot of time.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike is that some advanced surfacing and rendering tools aren’t as smooth or intuitive as in other CAD systems. It can take extra steps to get high-quality visualizations. However, for mechanical and production-focused work, Solid Edge remains very reliable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge addresses the challenge of integrating mechanical design with motion and mechanism simulation. It allows me to test movement, collision, and alignment directly within the CAD environment before building the actual system.

This reduces physical trial-and-error, shortens the development cycle, and helps ensure mechanical compatibility with automation components like sensors or actuators.

Solid Edge review

  • October 10, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how synchronous modeling makes design changes fast and flexible. The assembly and sheet metal tools are reliable, and the drafting and simulation features work well for validating designs early.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface can feel clunky and overwhelming at first, and it slows down with large assemblies. Some features aren’t as polished or intuitive as other CAD software, so it takes time to get fully efficient.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge helps me make design changes faster with synchronous modeling, so I don’t have to rebuild complex parts from scratch. It also handles assemblies and sheet metal work efficiently and lets me validate designs early with simulation. This saves time, reduces mistakes, and makes the whole design process smoother and more predictable.

powerful and flexible 3D design software

  • October 08, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It’s great for mechanical design, sheet metal, and assemblies. The best thing about it is the Synchronous Technology, which lets you make quick design changes without breaking the model. It’s reliable, professional, and has good simulation tools. The interface is clean, but it takes a bit of time to learn. Overall, it’s a strong, flexible CAD program — perfect for engineers who want both speed and accuracy.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be difficult to learn at first, especially the synchronous technology. The software sometimes feels heavy with large assemblies, and it’s not as widely used as SolidWorks or Fusion 360, so finding tutorials, forums, or community help can be harder. The interface could also be more modern and smoother in some areas.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge helps solve complex 3D design and editing problems by combining direct and parametric modeling. It makes it easier to change designs quickly, create accurate assemblies, and reduce design time. This helps me work faster, make better-quality models, and improve overall productivity.

Solid Edge review

  • October 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge never crashed when I worked with it. It does get slow at times, especially when working with large assemblies, but it handles it eventually. It is well connected with other Siemens tools like Teamcenter, but work fine on its own as well. I find the interface simple for some basic usage. For me, the best thing about Solid Edge is Synchronous Technology. It allows the user to change the geometry without searching through operations history and save time if some last minute changes on the part are required. Solid Edge is very good for sheet metal modeling.
What do you dislike about the product?
Solid Edge is not beginner friendly. It is hard to find tutorials and documentation, and if you do find some it is usually not that helpfull. Some functions of the software are hard to find if you are not an experienced user. If you are working on large assemblies it can get slow. Having used SolidWorks and NX as well, I can't say that I am not impressed with Solid Edge. For small companies and freelance work it can offer some value, but for more advanced work I wolud not recommend it over SolidWorks or NX.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designing the 3D models and technical drawings for production. It allows good comunication with colleagues from other deparments thorough ist connection with Teamcenter, which is key for a successfull business.
