How easy it is to navigate the user interface. The best part is a smooth integrations with other Siemens products, which means a very seamless lifecycle management
What do you dislike about the product?
Smaller community means harder to find help and tutorials, this could be improved inside the Solid Edge to have the ability to find helpful advice or answer more easily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can make design changes even in late stages of the project very easily, which usually takes a long time with other tools. Simulation tools are also a huge benefit as I can catch any potential problems very early.

Solid Edge Review

  • July 29, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fairly easy to learn and understand, after the first couple months you pick up on it fairly easily and you can navigate around it. It isn’t really taught in school so you have to learn by experience which is good.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like I said above we really aren’t taught this software in school so unless you go to company that has it implemented you really won’t be exposed to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a more engineering based user platform compared to a other CAD software like solid works which is more focused on product design and I’m going to college for engineering so it aligns better with my course of study.

Efficient CAD Management, Needs Speed Improvement

  • July 29, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Designcenter Solid Edge to manage different CAD files. It helps me quickly browse parts, assemblies, and drawings without needing to open each file individually, solving the challenge of keeping complex projects organized. I like how I can preview and drag-and-drop parts into my project swiftly, making navigation of complex assemblies faster. It links smoothly with the rest of the Solid Edge environment, and the search and review features work reliably, making the files easier to track. The setup was straightforward for me because Designcenter is already integrated with Solid Edge.
What do you dislike about the product?
The overall speed and responsiveness when working with larger project files could be improved. It would help if Designcenter used more efficient caching so that previously accessed folders load instantly instead of refreshing every time. It can also have better memory management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Designcenter Solid Edge to organize CAD files efficiently, solving the challenge of keeping projects organized. It lets me preview, drag, and drop parts, speeding up navigation through complex assemblies.

Great tool for design with some room for improvement

  • July 28, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most is how intuitive the interface becomes once you get the hang of it, especially with the Ease of Use improving over time. The 3D modeling features are super helpful for visualizing complex designs, and the Ease of Implementation is smooth with the right support. The Number of Features is impressive, offering a wide range of tools, and the Ease of Integration with other Siemens tools makes my workflow seamless. I use it with high Frequency of Use daily, which shows its reliability. Customer Support, while not perfect, has been there when I needed it most.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve can be steep, especially for someone like me who’s not a pro yet, which affects the Ease of Use initially. The Ease of Implementation can be challenging without proper guidance, and Customer Support could be more responsive and detailed. The Number of Features, while great, can feel overwhelming, and some advanced ones are hard to access. Ease of Integration is excellent with Siemens tools, but I’ve noticed occasional lag with large projects, which impacts my Frequency of Use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge is tackling several key challenges for me, making my work as a consultant much more efficient and effective. One major problem it solves is the complexity of 3D modeling and design prototyping. Before using Solid Edge, I often struggled with visualizing intricate designs and catching potential flaws early, which led to costly revisions later. With its robust 3D modeling tools and simulation features, I can now create detailed prototypes and test them virtually, saving significant time and reducing the need for physical prototypes. This benefit translates into faster project turnarounds and lower costs for my clients.

Another issue it addresses is the difficulty in coordinating with team members on design projects. Solid Edge’s collaboration tools allow me to share models and updates seamlessly, ensuring everyone is on the same page. This has cut down on miscommunications and rework, boosting productivity and client satisfaction. Additionally, it helps solve the challenge of managing large assemblies by providing a stable platform that doesn’t crash under heavy workloads, which is a huge relief when dealing with complex engineering projects.

On the business side, Solid Edge is helping me tackle inefficiencies in the design-to-production pipeline. By streamlining workflows and integrating with other Siemens tools, it reduces delays and ensures designs are production-ready more quickly. This benefit is huge for meeting tight deadlines and maintaining a competitive edge. Overall, the software’s ability to solve these technical and business problems is enhancing my productivity, improving the quality of my work, and allowing me to deliver better value to my clients

a plesant CAD software that allowed me to accomplish what I needed

  • July 28, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The GUI is very nice. I like how easily accessible basic features are. I had no trouble getting my object to taste and measure how I wanted. The color was nice too.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a long time to render my projects when I am completed. I was hoping to get in and out in under a day, but it took the software a couple days to render my object.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I don't know what problems Solid Edge is solving. it is a CAD software similar to many others that I have used. I wouldn't say it goes above and beyond.

    Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

great but needs a little more polishing

  • July 28, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
it's very easy to use and implement as the first cad i learned was solid works.
once i got a crash and somehow custumer support was able to help me recover my work as i didnt save the last steps of my work. i was using it daily (monday to friday) for a period of 4 years.i liked pretty much that i could open up files from that were made in different programs, very good integration.
What do you dislike about the product?
the in-built CAM was slugg-ish, i mean that's ok as there is solidCAM for proffessional use.i liked the ui only 3 times in my period of use did i get an image glich.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
as we switched from solidworks to solid edge it was very intuitive and easy to use, very fast and easy on machine resource requirements. as i made the 3d models and starting simulating how will it perform in the necessary assembly under the load. and ocasionaly used to design something helping some friends by 3d printing some stuff. great for that too.

Solid Edge is Great, Highly Recommend

  • July 28, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Love the drafting features in solid edge and the amount of customization to the UI is great. Being able to set up part families for commonly used parts/variants is very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the software gets slow when dealing with splines or complex parts (like with gears or splined shafts). Synchronous mode is also very finicky, if you're not careful you can do some damage to your model and be unable to get it back to a state that was clean
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid edge works great on simplified models which is helpful in getting less complex models made quickly. Its drafting features also help getting drawings made in a timely fashion.

Solid Edge metal sheet design

  • July 27, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Well I started using Solid Edge because while designing a metal sheet part in Fusion 360, I hit a road block.
I wasn't able to add hemmings, dimples and all other features you would consider standard with Metal sheet design. Switching to Solid Edge gave me more control over that. It feels like a solid software for 3D design.
I still have to practice more to be more comfortable. But as someone who used SolidWorks before, it has this same feeling of being able to do much more than Fusion 360. On top of that it's free!
I think it's a great way to improve my 3D design experience and even perform physical tests without breaking the bank. Because as an Hobbyist/Entrepreneur, you don't always have the ability to spend 100s every month on a software just to test new designs.
What do you dislike about the product?
My issue with Solid Edge is being able to modify past actions. I MIGHT have missed that such a feature exists somewhere in the settings; because I know Fusion 360 and SolidWorks have such features.
But also, it might be slightly unstable and tends to crash. I do perform complex tasks on the software, and no software is perfect, but I believe there could be some improvement on that side of things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Metal sheet design was the big reason for me to use Solid Edge. I am able to have much more control on my design. The built-in features are great and save a lot of my time. Also the included simulation is great, as it avoids using external software.

Synchronous technology

  • July 27, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It makes modeling fast and flexible, combining the best of parametric and direct modeling. I use it regularly for 3D parts, assemblies, and technical drawings, and it handles everything smoothly. The interface is clean, the tools are powerful, and performance is great even on mid-range hardware. A reliable choice for serious engineering work.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can mention the user interface can feel outdated, and the learning curve may be steep for beginners . Some menus are cluttered, and finding the right tools can take time for new users. The software is clearly designed for professionals, but beginners might find the workflow less intuitive at first
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Over the past year, I’ve been working extensively with Solid Edge to bring product ideas to life — from early 3D concepts to final technical drawings ready for production.

What sets Solid Edge apart for me is its Synchronous Technology — it allows fast, flexible edits without breaking the model. This means I can respond to design changes quickly and keep projects moving forward, even under tight deadlines.
