    Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

Flexible, Powerful, but with a Learning Curve

  • August 13, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Honestly, Solid Edge is pretty underrated. The Synchronous Tech is a game changer for quick edits, especially when you’re working with imported files. It’s got everything in one place — 2D drafting, 3D modeling, sheet metal, and even decent simulation tools built-in. Feels super versatile, and I love not having to jump between programs. Definitely one of those CAD tools that shines when you need flexibility.
What do you dislike about the product?
Solid Edge is powerful, but man, that learning curve can hit hard, especially if you’re coming from something like SolidWorks or Fusion. The interface feels a bit dated in places, and some tools aren’t as intuitive as they could be. It’s also not as popular in the CAD community, so finding tutorials or forum help can be trickier. Plus, the licensing can get expensive if you’re not on an educational or company plan.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge makes updating mechanical designs way easier by letting me change parts without rebuilding everything. It also handles imported CAD files really well, so I can edit them like native parts. That saves a lot of time and keeps the whole design process running smoothly.

Solid Edge, a good experience

  • August 11, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate it’s large array of options and tools. There isn’t something I can’t do on it, which makes it useful for a lot of CAD viewing and modification work.
What do you dislike about the product?
The controls used to navigate around the 3D view are not necessarily intuitive and are not user friendly to change. Overall, some aspects of the GUI could be made more user-friendly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I mostly use it to view cad models made by mechanical engineers, but I can also use it to measure areas and distances which is greatly appreciated on such a software.

Solid Edge – Intuitive Workflow & Seamless Integration

  • August 09, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Solid Edge is how intuitive it feels from day one The ease of use is clear thanks to its clean interface and organized ribbon tabs making navigation quick even for new users The ease of implementation allowed me to start real projects almost immediately without a steep learning curve Its ease of integration with CAM and simulation tools means I can handle design machining preparation and testing in one connected workflow I also appreciate the number of features it offers from detailed 3D modeling to built in analysis without feeling cluttered Given my workflow the frequency of use is high and the more I use it the faster and more confident I become in delivering projects While I havent needed to contact customer support yet knowing its available and backed by Siemens adds extra confidence in relying on the software for critical work
What do you dislike about the product?
The only small drawback for me is the default mouse scroll zoom direction, which feels opposite compared to some other CAD tools I’ve used. It’s a quick setting to adapt to, but it takes a short adjustment period. Also, some icons are placed slightly differently than in other platforms, so you might spend a moment looking for them in the beginning but once familiar, the workflow is smooth.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me Solid Edge really makes the whole mechanical design process a lot smoother I can start with an idea turn it into a 3D model prepare it for manufacturing and even run simulations without jumping between different programs Having CAM and simulation built in saves me a lot of time and avoids the usual file problems when moving between software Everything stays in one place and organized The tutorials are super helpful too because whenever I want to try something new I can just follow along and get it done It also saved me from the confusion of having to search all over platforms like YouTube or Reddit for answers because it already provides clear guidance for most things I need This means I can finish my projects quicker and I feel more confident about the results

Solid Edge: Sculpting the Future of Design

  • August 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It’s good for 3D sculpting and simulations. Its easier to pick up and learn too. It also has this collaboration with Siemens which is a huge plus for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
It suffers a bit with 2D design and simulations. It doesn’t support a lot of file types and it’s a bit of a pain for those of us used to Solidworks and a bit pricey too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me model and simulate 3D designs fast and the Siemens PLM integration helps a ton with collaboration and organization of my files. This feature is really beneficial to my work

    Manufacturing

Easy to learn and work in it

  • August 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its not complicatet to use,it has a friendly user interface and you have on youtube many material to learn how to use Sold Edge, but you need a good computer to run it and make 3D drawings.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features in Solid Edge feel unintuitive, making it difficult for users to quickly understand how to use them. In many cases, actions that should be simple like creating basic geometry, applying constraints,or modifying sketches, require too many steps or hidden commands, which slows down the overall workflow and increases the learning curve, especially for new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the key problems I solve using Solid Edge is preparing 3D models for integration with CAM software, which is used to generate G code for CNC milling machines.Solid Edge allows me to export models in formats that are compatible with our CAM systems, ensuring that the geometry is accurate and machinable

Solid Edge: Fast and Affordable for Engineers

  • August 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Solid Edge for its speed, which significantly cuts down my workload and helps me deliver all my tasks efficiently as a software engineer. The 3D modeling capability is particularly helpful, and I find the pricing perfect, aligned with its reliability.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see a free trial offered to all users. It would be helpful for evaluating the software before making a purchase decision. Currently, the lack of a trial limits accessibility for potential users, especially students or small businesses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find Solid Edge's speed saves me a lot of time, allowing me to deliver tasks efficiently as a software engineer. Its intuitive interface and powerful features streamline my workflow and reduce development bottlenecks.

Share my experience using Solid Edge and contribute to the G2 community

  • August 05, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Solid Edge is its powerful and intuitive combination of parametric and synchronous modeling. This hybrid approach allows for faster design iterations and greater flexibility when working with complex assemblies. The interface is user-friendly, and the integration with Siemens PLM tools enhances collaboration across projects. Additionally, features like simulation, sheet metal design, and rendering are well-integrated and highly efficient, making Solid Edge an excellent all-in-one solution for mechanical design and engineering tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Solid Edge is a powerful tool, one area for improvement is its learning curve for new users, especially when transitioning from other CAD platforms. Some advanced features—like synchronous technology—can be confusing at first without proper training. Additionally, performance can occasionally lag when handling very large assemblies or complex simulations, depending on system specs. Better integration with third-party plugins and improved file compatibility with other CAD software would also enhance workflow flexibility.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge helps me solve complex mechanical design challenges by streamlining the modeling and assembly process, especially in projects involving renewable energy systems and turbomachinery.

Its synchronous technology allows me to make quick edits without needing to retrace the entire design history, saving valuable time during design iterations. The built-in simulation tools also help me validate designs early, reducing the need for costly physical prototypes. Additionally, Solid Edge’s sheet metal and drafting features ensure that designs are ready for manufacturing with high accuracy, helping me move from concept to production more efficiently.
