Intuitive 3D Modeling and Efficient Workflow for Engineers

  • January 07, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a graduate mechanical engineer, what I appreciate most about Designcenter Solid Edge is its intuitive 3D modeling environment and the efficiency it brings to the design workflow. The software enables me to create and modify parts and assemblies quickly, which is crucial during the iterative process of engineering design.

I especially value the parametric and synchronous modeling capabilities, as they allow for rapid design changes while preserving dimensional accuracy. This adaptability proves invaluable when I need to accommodate design updates or optimize specific components.

Furthermore, the integrated drafting and assembly tools simplify the process of generating clear, manufacturing-ready drawings directly from 3D models. In summary, Solid Edge enhances practical engineering design by shortening development time and letting me concentrate more on functionality, performance, and manufacturability.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the learning curve associated with some of its advanced features. While the core modeling tools are intuitive, certain functions such as complex assemblies and advanced simulation tools can take time to fully understand and use efficiently.

Additionally, the software can feel resource-intensive when working with larger assemblies, which may affect performance on lower-specification computers. Some workflows also require multiple steps to accomplish tasks that feel more streamlined in other CAD platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designcenter Solid Edge solves the problem of inefficient and error-prone mechanical design by providing an integrated 3D CAD environment for part modeling, assemblies, and technical drawings. Instead of relying on disconnected tools, it allows designs to be developed, modified and documented within a single platform.

For me as a graduate mechanical engineer, this reduces design time and improves accuracy, especially when making frequent design changes. The parametric and synchronous modeling tools help prevent dimensional errors and maintain design intent during revisions. Solid Edge also simplifies the transition from 3D models to manufacturing-ready drawings, reducing the risk of miscommunication.Overall, it benefits me by improving design efficiency, supporting better engineering decisions, and helping me produce professional, industry-standard outputs.

Quick and Efficient, but with Details to Improve

  • January 06, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I usually use Designcenter Solid Edge to develop more complex design projects, mainly taking advantage of tools like solid creation and sweeps. It greatly supports me in reducing time compared to other software, for example, by reusing features or even parts. I feel it allows me to design solutions much faster than other applications, achieving my goals efficiently. Additionally, the speed and ease of finding installation folders along with a low learning curve were positive points during the initial setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has certain issues with organization, often duplicating documents instead of updating them, and also has a very unintelligent file search. The configuration of some shared library was negative for me. I feel that there are applications that give you more freedom and are more commonly used in the design area, so sometimes if you want to share some type of document, it can become complicated to have the same information.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designcenter Solid Edge allows me to develop complex design projects with tools such as solid creation and sweeps, significantly reducing time. It helps me avoid headaches by reusing features or parts, and speeds up design, especially in repetitive tasks like working with flanges and supports.

Powerful, Accurate, But Steep Learning Curve

  • January 05, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Designcenter Solid Edge allows me to work confidently, make changes quickly, and deliver designs that are accurate. I also really feel like it handles imported files from other CAD systems well. Being able to edit and reuse external models without rebuilding them from scratch saves a lot of time and effort.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the learning curve steep for new users. A step-by-step onboarding inside the software would assist.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designcenter Solid Edge reduces design errors early, speeds up designs and changes, eliminates manual drafting work, and improves file and assembly management. It bridges the gap between design and manufacturing, letting me work confidently with accurate outputs and edit external models efficiently.

Perfect CAD Starter: Intuitive, Beginner-Friendly, and Easy to Master

  • December 17, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Extremely easy for a beginner to pick up and start working. Easy to learn with lots of ground to master. Serves as an excellent tool for those who want to begin CAD. UI is straightforward with appropriate symbols that more or less depict functions well when comapred to a handful of tools I have used so far.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is hard to immediately define what I dislike. This served as a gateway to a lot of other CAD softwares that I do not particularly see it employed in companies. I wish there was more outreach for SolidEdge, which is not a fault but a compliment from my side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
An excellent tool that I recommend my students and peers to pick up for ease in collaborating since I work with creating products that sometimes I give design freedom to.

Effortless Design Reuse, Boosts Consistency

  • December 15, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how Designcenter Solid Edge turns reuse into a normal part of the workflow, making it easy to grab the right part quickly without breaking my flow. It offers fast 'find and drop' reuse, allowing for preview before committing, which enhances consistency across projects and maintains momentum under time pressure. Additionally, it makes 'company standards' easier to follow, is excellent for repeat subassemblies—not just single parts—and it results in less file opening and context switching. I also find that it supports clean handoffs and quietly reduces errors.
What do you dislike about the product?
A few things that commonly don't feel as smooth with Designcenter Solid Edge, especially once your libraries get big: Search and filtering can feel limited, it's only as good as the library behind it, version control and revisions can still be tricky, performance can dip with network libraries, UI can feel a bit utilitarian.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designcenter Solid Edge helps me reuse existing design content efficiently, preventing unnecessary remodeling. It simplifies workflow integration, improves consistency across projects, and reduces errors, ensuring faster and smoother design processes.

Streamlines Design Workflow and Boosts Efficiency

  • December 14, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Designcenter in Solid Edge is how useful it is once you get used to it. Being able to reuse standard parts instead of creating everything from scratch saves a lot of time, especially on repeat projects. It also helps keep designs consistent, which is important when working with the same parts over and over. When everything is set up properly, it makes the design process smoother and more reliable.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I don’t like about Designcenter is that it’s not very user-friendly at the beginning. It takes time to understand where everything is, and searching for parts isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes it feels slow when the library gets bigger, which can be frustrating during tight deadlines. The interface also feels a bit old compared to other tools, and it could really benefit from better organization and faster performance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designcenter helps avoid wasting time recreating parts that are already used in other projects. I can quickly reuse standard components, which makes the design process faster and more consistent. It also reduces mistakes because the parts are already tested and familiar. This is especially helpful when working under tight deadlines or collaborating with others, since everyone is using the same set of components.

What do you like best about the product?
good user friendly interface, cost effective software, very fast software also flexible for editing, very good for manufacturing oriented design as well as electrical design
What do you dislike about the product?
less customization of UI, wile opening large files face issue like software slow down a bit, sometimes creating files size are large, suppose if in need of extensive simulation then we can not do it in software
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
this is 3D modeling software so we got more machine related features in this software, also this software is very easy to understanding, anyone can access this like professionals as well as students
