Solid Edge more than a CAD software
What do you like best about the product?
For me, they represent a family of products that integrate with each other, allowing you to make the most of it when creating intelligent designs, with a pleasant interface, intuitive and customizable software.
What do you dislike about the product?
As with everything, there is always room for improvement. I hope Siemens updates the electrical design tools. The integration with mechanical design is fantastic, but it still needs improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lightweight software and its capabilities represent a significant reduction in time, synchronous technology allows me to work comfortably, while data management simplifies project reuse.

More than 20 years of design on the job and off
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Only use software with fixed licenses. With rental licenses, you own your data only as long as you pay rent. After that, you give your data out of your hand.

Synchronous Technology. Not my cup of tea. I feel like the learning curve is too high
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sheet Metal Design, Frame Design, machined parts, etc. I have found that it makes my designs more robust and accurate

Wonderful price point, easy to use, and way better that the other product(s) in this category
Solid Edge is your friend at design
What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge is much more than simple CAD software. I like it because it is built on Parasolid geometry kernel, which is powerful. It has advanced body modeling, surface modeling capability with subdivision freeform technic. Very important that it has a free version for hobbyists and markers. My father in law uses it too, but he is 72 years old, easy to learn it.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few things that I don't like. Sometimes I need to use 3D dxf file, but I can't import it in Solid Edge because it doesn't support it. Another similar thing is importing .3mf (a popular file format to 3D printing) file that is not impartable in SE.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can solve everything what I want. It provides Simulation capability too, it's good to validate my plans.

A very concrete software focused on user needings.
Best in class about sheet metal and drafting and a very powerful assembly environment.
After many years it's still developed at best to be always up-to-date with modern technologies like generative design, hybrid modeling, and subdivision modeling.
In the latest releases performance in many areas where increased and those who work with large assemblies will highly benefit from it.

In some areas is less known as his direct competitor Solid Works

We do around 1000 drawings per month and the ease of use and reuse of components and projects make the work much easier than any other system.
The built-in data manager is very great for small offices.
The development of new products is very efficient due to the powerful tools available in any environment.
Techniques like bottom-up and top-down assembly design are suitable at best for new and old users.

If you come from another CAD don't try to use it Solid Edge in the same way but master its own techniques, if you have the opportunity do also a personalized learning course to master it at best.
Very powerful , modern and yet lightweight MCAD
What do you like best about the product?
Fast modeling of simple and complex products using Synchronous Technology and traditional modeling together, including ID prototypes, mechanical parts, and large assemblies very fast with all control over it, not needing an ultra-powerful PC

Animation and sketch environment could receive some improvements, and they could add more functions to work with meshes along with B-rep modeling
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me release products quickly on the shop floor, even when I need revisions ( all done without extra add-ons ) . Also, it has tools for annotation and linked documentation that are very easy to use, which speeds up the pre-launch documentation in 3D environments to communicate with the production line or prototype and marketing departments.

We are now employing Solid Edge to develop and create Jigs, Fixtures, and Accessories. WE are employing it to assemble all the pieces in order to test the functionality of freshly designed parts.
