Solid Edge Great Design Tool from Siemens
What do you like best about the product?
starting environment of solid edge is good, Solid edge offers wide variety of features to designers to model any object simple and complex. Its a PARAMETRIC software. Provides Solid,Part, Sheet Metal, Drafting environment. It gives live dimensions while drawing line or square or circle. Solid edge is a 3D cad Software. The best is i am able lock/unlock sketch plans in Solid edge, and I think this feature is not available in any other software. Also I like explode assemblies feature in solid edge. Speed of solid edge is excellent, also aesthetics/screens and default coloursare great soits not stressful for user. Drawing tool, 3D tool, rendering tools all are great. File size is comparatively less. Also I am able to Import/ Export almost all types of files in solid edge.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is need od improvement in sketch environment as well as in drafting environment. Also right click to end command is not a good idea. Also I can't find more Industries / people using solid edge in India. Plastic modelling is not easy in solid edge.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can handle large assemblies very fast in solid edge. Using solid edge i am creating different and lots of configurations to use next time, so for me its time saving. I am able to change location of commands/bar as per my convenience so easy to find commands.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Part modelling, Drafting, sheet metal modelling makes easy using solid edge. Also documentation, basic simulation is done in solid edge. So i recommend to Industries to use solid edge to save time and cost.

Very intuitive interface making it easy to find commands and features when needed

Weld features could use some improvement
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Interactivity with Excel is significant for our workflow as we have full parametric models driven by Excel design tools which leverage variable data stored elsewhere
Could Be Better
What do you like best about the product?
There are a few things Solid Edge does well. The right-click to end command is great. I love the individual tabs up top for open windows. The check box for hiding and showing is far more user-friendly than Solidworks options. Overall after a year of use I am getting better and more efficient as I find commands and what not.
What do you dislike about the product?
Though you can tell Solid Edge is working on new features, it is less obvious you are working on refining and cleaning up older ones. A shining example would be section views in drawings. It takes two separate commands to create a section view, and both are clunkier and more timely than SolidWorks. The mate command is clunky and the mates are not very intelligent. The angle command is a nightmare to use. The fact you can't do a proper configuration is a serious disadvantage from other CAD options. Exploding in solid edge is a timely slow process, especially if you have sub-assemblies. And any organization is clumsy and messy at best, difficult to navigate at its worst.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
So far there is nothing I can do in solid edge that I couldn't do, often easier, in SolidWorks or other cad programs. I still havent found all the capability p=of previously used cad in SE.
Excellent product, Very recomended
What do you like best about the product?
Solidedge has an Intelligent and intuitive interface. It is a very powerful program that has a streamlined ability to communicate across platforms. The start-up program gives SMB's in their infancy access to the software for free as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not have any dislikes for Solid edge or the Siemens platforms. My only wish is that I wish I had found the program and the Startup program sooner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge is allowing me to make accurate and repeatable parts for my customers. There are many benefits to using the program as well, the main one being that it elevates us over our competition by providing a service most shops do not offer.

What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge as a software is amazing but the Team of people behind the product, from Executive Leadership, Product Managers to Support Staff makes the user experience of Solid Edge 2nd to none.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing about Solid Edge as software or a community of users that I do not like.

Mechanical Design. Faster Design Cycle, an ecosystem of related tools for analysis of all kinds truly supporting the concept of Digital Twin

SolidEdge seems to be making some great improvements/innovations

Solid Edge needs improvement with drawing capabilities but I believe thatI have learned its heading in the right direction

What do you like best about the product?
The best feature of Solid Edge is the uniformity of the menu system and the way that the commands work with the selection of the graphic objects. This theme is carried throughout the various modules of the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the downsides is finding trained Solid Edge users in the San Francisco Bay area. Because Solid Edge is not widely used in the SF bay area we spend more funding on training than might be required for other CAD systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are creating massive assemblies for beamlines in the world of high-energy physics. The benefits we realize is the speed in which Solid Edge handles the massive assembly structures and model.
Solid Edge 2022 is Fantastic
What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge helps us keep our projects and parts moving forward at a very quick pace. We are able to efficiently go from idea to machine shop in a short amount of time because of Solid Edge.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't as much training out there available for Solid Edge as there might be for other software packages. Although if you are familiar with one CAD system you can usually pick up another quickly.

We are solving problems we didn't know we would have because of our preliminary designs in Solid Edge.
