Solid Edge ST2 - College and Early Career

What do you like best about the product?
Solid is a very good solid modeling program. It is easy to understand and the interface is clean and functional.
What do you dislike about the product?
ST2 was somewhat difficult to use in a Industrial Design surfacing environment. I'm not sure what they are offering now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At that time, I was doing ID/Mechanical design work. I was able to easily create parts and advanced assemblies using solid edge.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This program is great it you do not need to do advanced surfacing techniques.

Solid Edge ST8 - It gives me the edge on the competition

What do you like best about the product?
It is wonderfully intuitive and has so much to offer in designing and sculpting. To be honest it has far more features than I could ever need. I have been using Solid Edge since its old version 3, 25 versions ago, and I couldn't do without it. Also the vendors I bought it from - Majenta PLM, are very helpful and respond very quickly to any queries I may have. It also meshes seamlessly with Key Shot rendering software.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only dislikes are that a lot of the development between upgrades is to suit engineers, which I am not. It is also quite costly to keep the license up to date, however it is a tool I need for my trade.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am a freelance design consultant working mainly in the luxury goods market, designing anything from writing instruments, bags, hardware, watches , clocks, furniture and retail design. Solid Edge allows me to work very quickly and precisely. It also allows me to interact very effectively with manufacturers and tool makers alike.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The vast bulk of the design world, who can afford it appear to have gone over to Solid Works, however I believe that Solid Edge has, as it were, the edge on Solid Works. I find it easier to work with and is more intuitive.

Solid Edge Precision's Best Friend

What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge it's an amazing design programme for working with precision. The programme is able to show you when geometry has some kind of error or when you designed something that is physically impossible to build.
The programme increases your geometrical brain ability forcing you to break down everything you imagine into planes, curves, lines and points.
It also helps you to calculate the weight of materials, the resistance and other physical properties that are really useful in the design world.
What do you dislike about the product?
The final piece you get in Solid Edge is not as pretty as other softwares may give you. It doesn't look realistic, but when your looking for technical specs you don't care about aesthetics that much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use this programme for designing plastic packaging and I realized that the precision that gives it's unbelievable, the error range is very small, and the result of the designs were amazing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Excellent for precision design, easy to learn, friendly and logic, definitely not for rendering.

What do you like best about the product?
The location of tools and how you can easily understand the software, even if you don't know about 3D modeling.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's been frustrating when I was looking for job that very few workplaces know the software, so I barely use it since I graduate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My best projects were made with Solid Edge, and have opened many opportunities for my professional career.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend to use this software to model simple products, with few details and the render will have bigger impact.

What do you like best about the product?
I am in the field of sheet metal for fifteen years and no popular software surpasses or approaches Solid Edge for its sheet metal module. Simple and effective, this software is a pleasure to use.
