Development of new machines in Solid Edge
What do you like best about the product?
The main feature is the simplicity of the work, intuitive and productive creation of drawings.
What do you dislike about the product?
The least useful is synchronous technology for standard design.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Solid Edge makes complex design of new machines, supported by FEM structural analysis.
CAD for Automation
What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge is a good software if your organization is completely integrated to Siemens Team Center PLM. As the integration helps with complete transparency and ease of doing work. It is a good computer aided software which performs 2D as well as 3D drawings and design. It is a polished software which runs very smoothly. It can handle large drawing files very capably without lag. It is faster and easier to design and draw parts, editing or rework is quite easily done. The integration of other Siemens products such as teamcenter allowed me as trainee to gain knowledge other industry leading application.
What do you dislike about the product?
High skill is required as it is not user friendly as Siemens designed it for experienced operators, but you can get used to it in time. Exposure is low in students or freshers as most are unaware of the software and have no skill to use this software. The usability does not compare with other CAD software such as Catia and Solid Works. It is quite a costly software in comparison to the feature it contains.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The integration with the PLM software helped reduce the time consumed. Reworking of old drawings are easier and can be done quite efficiently. I had only used this software as a trainee, so did not get to use this software extensively. And the benefits it did was not such realized by me during the process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you manage a small or medium scale company or for personal use, I do not recommend this software as it is costly and much better with other software integrated with it. If your company has PLM and if you are looking to integrate this with it then this is the CAD software for you.
Excellent tool for some amateur in CAD modelling to view at 3D drawings
What do you like best about the product?
I am not very good at CAD modelling and designing. But I like Solid Edge as I am able to view 3D drawings from different angles easily in it. It is very light, opens up quickly, fast and user friendly compared to other CAD softwares which are quite heavy and takes forever to load.
What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot measure dimensions of parts in solid edge and need the file to be in .EASM format to be able to open up in Solid Edge
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I analysis 3D drawings made by drafters and designer and give them feedback on changes that need to be implemented. I use solidedge drawings to take snap shots and prepare presentation and communicate design changes
Great drafting application for engineering
What do you like best about the product?
This application completely fulfills all of our company's needs. This dynamic application can fit any project or idea we need to design. It also gives us tools that make drafting
What do you dislike about the product?
The application is similar to solidworks. Both applications have similar functions. However, solidworks is more popular and known for engineers in the workforce. It's a barrier to transition from solidworks to solid edge. Solid edge can accomplish the same challenges that solidworks can. However solid edge has buttons and tabs in completely different places.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We design light fixtures and LED boards. The most recent benefit has been the ability to draft the wires and harnessing within solid edge.

What do you like best about the product?
It is really important for a student have opportunity to know SE thanks to student edition. About the program about 3D models it is intuitive and versatile CAD tool that give opportunity to approach the project in different way, much more than other CAD. In particular I found assembly constraints easier to use more than in other CAD.
What do you dislike about the product?
I didn't find it so easy to use about surfaces. I think that the 3D parts works better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I realized project for my university exams and designed part for the formula Student car

Download the free version and try to follow tutorials and youtube videos they are really good for beginners

I struggle to find many positives with this software, everything seems clunky and all of the buttons are hard to find.
What do you dislike about the product?
The full software.
I know it's a matter of opinion but to me the software seems clunky and not very user friendly, the buttes are all hard to find, completely different to somewhere like solidworks!

Solid edge is the best software used by mechanical engineers. it is used for product designs in automobile industries. the most i like in this software is it combines CAD, CAM and CAE all together in one this make very easy for 3D printing.

it is very great software in the market hence there is no reason to dislike Solid edge.

Solid edge helped a lot in every part of designing. it helps in 3D printing by combining CAD,CAM and CAE tools in one. before we have to use is differently for doing one work this software bought all together and made easy

if we compare it with Solid Works and Autodesk Inventor, Solid Edge allows you to do more with less, the time savings are considerable

What do you like best about the product?
Solid edge tool is more user-friendly. It is easy to use as it helps in modeling all services of CAD, CAM and CAE. We can simulate machine operations which help all calculations like power, time, etc. Solid edge also helps to work on 3d printing.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no reason to dislike this tool. It is bit expensive and complicated.

Solid edge solved many problems extensively for 3d prints. Before we have to use 3 softwares for 3d prints. This tool made ease of work.

I recommend this software for new mechanical graduates to start their career. This software has the best features.
Solid Edge for Industrial Design Consultancy
What do you like best about the product?
When starting a new industrial design consultancy the selection of which CAD tool to us was a big decision. As a group we'd used nearly all the industry leading products, many of which are incredibly expensive., but after much research we opted to go with SolidEdge which delivers a great product at a great price point.
Given many years of CAD experience we opted to self learn and after a couple of days it became very intuitive and we were quickly able to create whatever we wanted.
As designers the integration with Keyshot is an amazing feature, allowing us to review concept designs with full realism at a touch of a button.

What do you dislike about the product?
Like all CAD systems there are a few quirky interface things but nothing significant. In the case of SE it feels like you sometimes need to do a lot of clicks to complete features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We create the look and feel of both consumer and professional products, defining the physical product UX. We use SE to go from initial (paper or digital) sketches to full product definition, allowing us to handover to the outer shell definition as CAD files.
