Modeling parts in Solid Edge to 3D print them
What do you like best about the product?
I like Solid Edge because you start modeling a 3D object. In other softwares you have to draw the entire part in 2D and after that start modeling in 3D. In Solid Edge you start with 3D, which is better in my opinion
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing i dislike about Solid Edge is that it requires a lot of PC resources (RAM, Fast processor, etc)

As any designer come from solidworks interface, it is quite difficult to be friendly with SOLIDEDGE, because there too many steps to perform a single command, it will increase the time of modeling job, Also there no proper MESHING system is availabe as compare with solidworks in its simulation tool, Pricing is also quite higher than other available softwares but for begginers it is good to start and learn..

The business problems like sketching, Modeling, drafting and detailing, Simulation and analysis of product design i am solving now with this software, The benefits i have realized that the grafics of model images are quite good than other softwares, also the timing of meshing in FEA tool is faster than other softwares, drafting interface are best as compare with other modeling softwares but not as good as autocad, This is best software for beginners, and small industries..

All of the functionality is there, and making copies of things in the revision manager is really useful. Also, it's possible to use a PDM with this software (as with others) to organize project-wide CAD models.

It's not a super intuitive program to use, and can be hard to find the commands you're looking for.

We designed the biggest digital camera in the world with this software, and used a PDM to keep all of the part and assembly and draft files organized.

Since Siemens bought the software they have been removing functionality gradually making it more difficult to use. Examples: 1. When drafting and in Draw in View mode you can no longer modify your sketch by placing dimensions on the sketch and changing the dimension. 2. When modifying a part inside of an assembly the Update command no longer updates the relationships in the assembly. 3. Can no longer change an 'inches' dimension by adding or subtracting mm's. (units must be in inches). 4. Can no longer save files in ASCII format. I imagine the functionality was taken away so that they can get more people to buy upgrades. Greedy or just incompetent?

Mechanical design problems. Creates needed drawings for manufacture.

Good if you want to pay max price for the highest function module. Check out other software first if max functionality is not needed.
