Easy to setup, and packs a mighty punch !

What do you like best about the product?
I love using session replays, it helps me understand our users behaviors and what they expect the platform to do

Integrating it was straightforward , and hooking it up to the custom analytics was also easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial screen we see after on-boarding is very overwhelming
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We want to understand user behavior, time to completion, and user expectation; and session replays helps us achieve all three in one go !!

What do you like best about the product?
I really like PostHog, in particular the session replays. It helps me understand my customers much better. I hope they add AI interpretation of these in the future.
What do you dislike about the product?
The setup could be slightly simpler imo, took me some time to figure out how to install but then again I am semi-technical.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need tracking to understand what is going on. The depth and breadth of analytics provided by PostHog is a game changer for us, and it's competitively priced imo.

What do you like best about the product?
Super generous free tier, very nice documentation and super easy to set up. There are loads of features and everything is in super in depth and well thought out.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, very little to complain about, maybe some of the stuff to do with experiments is a bit complex to understand when using it for the first time - stuff to do with statistics etc, but I guess that isn't really a limitation of posthog, more of just an education.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Seeing where users get confused, tracking conversions, doing ab test. Overall it just helps us create a better product which our users love

Powerful Self-Hosted Product Analytics with Great Flexibility features like session recordings

  • May 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
PostHog provides an all-in-one product analytics platform that’s developer-friendly and ideal for teams that want full control over their data. I love that it's open source and self-hostable, which ensures complete data ownership. The UI is intuitive, and the event tracking setup is straightforward. Session replays and feature flags are built-in, reducing the need for multiple tools. It’s especially great for engineering-led teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the platform is quite comprehensive, the initial setup for self-hosting can be a bit complex if you're not familiar with Docker or Kubernetes. Also, some advanced features may require configuration via code files, which could be challenging for non-technical users. The documentation is helpful, but there's room for improvement in clarity and examples for edge cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a reliable, privacy-compliant analytics tool that wouldn't compromise our user data. PostHog helps us track product usage, analyze funnels, and make informed feature decisions, all while self-hosting. The session recordings have been particularly helpful for understanding user behavior and identifying UX issues. The built-in feature flags also let us test features without deploying them to everyone.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that the team is constantly shipping new features which I find useful. Ensuring Posthog is our one stop shop for analytics
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that the LLM playground feature is less useful in its current form.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives me a unified environment to view user metrics and see how our product is being used.

I didn’t know any of this was even possible, it has been a life saver.

What do you like best about the product?
The session replay tool and analytics. The session replay has been a lifesaver, I can see exactly where the bugs in my MVP are and send tailored emails to beta testers when I’ve fixed the issue that was annoying them.
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit complicated and not sure of all the features. There’s just so much in your face.(I’m not a technical person, used ai agent to build)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can see exactly where users drop off, what I need to optimise in my MVP before going live

Seems to do it all

What do you like best about the product?
I like that PostHog has integrated many of the commonly useful *Ops tools into a single solution with a single method of code integration. All of the tools seem to hit on major functionality compared to other tools on the market. Of course, all of this comes down to value for dollar, and PostHog is succeeding at letting me scale the cost of these tools, alongside my usage.
What do you dislike about the product?
With a large number of tools, letting non-technical users find value is always a challenge.
A little more specific. I would like to see PostHog most directly support OpenFeature (feature flags). There is an open source project but I can't tell if PostHog is involved with that project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're using PostHog to analyze user behavior in order to validate that engineering efforts are achieving user-behavior driven outcomes. This is a huge benefit as it allows us to validate user behavior naturally as users utilize our web application.

Best analytics tool

What do you like best about the product?
It is free and I could easily get started with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Little overwhelming, difficult to understand what to do in dashboard, or what all matrix to track.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily wanted to know how many users used my website, and if they are facing any issues related to UX, and surprisingly how where I wanted to make users click, they were not clicking, from session replays I found out that users are kind of lost and don't know what to do... So I immediately changed the UX.

What do you like best about the product?
The screen recordings are very helpful and cool
What do you dislike about the product?
a bit overwhelming dashboard without how much clarity on how to do things or verification to know things are set up properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
getting heat maps and basic web analyirics

Using Posthog for Multiply has been amazing

What do you like best about the product?
I love the session replay feature. It has helped us reduce customer churn by figuring out pain points very quickly. Onboarding was also extremely efficient we were able to get it working in our react app in < 10 minutes
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the pages feel clunky. You can always find what you need but it doesn't have the best UX.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly centered around reducing churn. We're a very early stage startup so figuring out what is going wrong and right on the customer journey is important. The session replay has been by far the most important feature in this, I love it
