Valuable Analysis Tool with Small Obstacles
What do you like best about the product?
Mainly, I use PostHog for error tracking and product analysis, which helps me gain more insights about my product. I like the number of tools it offers and I really enjoy its interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can become complex at times. There is duplicate documentation for Next.js. There is a section for installing PostHog with Next.js that tells you to do it in a specific way, but then in another section of the documentation, it asks you to implement it differently. Some things like the logs I still couldn't get to work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog mainly for error tracking and product analysis. It helps me gain more insights about my product.
Flexible Analytics Tool with Room for Simplification
What do you like best about the product?
I really like PostHog's flexibility and effective tracking. It provides clear visibility into user behaviors and conversions, with strong analytics that are easy to use and don't require constant tech support. All of our team can use it effortlessly and can build custom dashboards. The initial setup was fairly easy, and we were able to start collecting data instantly.
What do you dislike about the product?
PostHog has been a nice learning curve for non-tech people like me, particularly for advanced analytics, and the interface can feel complex. More guided onboarding by the PostHog team and simplified reporting for non-tech users would be more than welcomed improvements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog to track user behavior and conversions. It offers flexibility and strong analytics. It's easy for the whole team to use without constant tech support. We switched to PostHog for easier event tracking, clearer funnels, and actionable insights.
All-in-One Analytics Powerhouse for Solo Founders
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the session replay feature and how seamlessly it integrates with other analytics tools. The free tier is impressively generous, providing a comprehensive solution for managing user experience, product analytics, and developer insights. As a solo founder, having all these capabilities in one place is truly invaluable.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a minor thing, but it's a little difficult to get the most out of the dashboards without a lot of learning / config, however the docs seem to be really good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Posthog allows me to identify issues with my app before my customers encounter them. I have a clear view of how users interact with the app and can easily run experiments using Posthog. The ability to toggle features on and off and measure their impact is very useful. It brings together the functionality of eight or more separate products into a single, streamlined interface, making it possible for me to handle a large amount of work from one dashboard.
Comprehensive Tool with Learning Curve
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how PostHog is an all-in-one tool, which helps me by providing one flow from insight to root cause to fix. The same user context across everything means less tool hopping and faster decisions. This integration helps streamline our process significantly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the learning curve with PostHog challenging. It can take time to understand the best way to model, and it feels a little overwhelming at first. Especially for newer folks, the product's power can cause them to get lost. We manage it by keeping things simple.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog to understand user movement and solve the issue of not knowing why users drop off. It's an all-in-one tool that provides one flow from insight to root cause to fix, offering the same user context across everything and reducing tool hopping for faster decisions.
Straightforward Onboarding, Complex Navigation
What do you like best about the product?
I use PostHog for analytics on my product, specifically for session replays and capturing evidence on our open source package. I appreciate how the session replay feature helps us understand how users actually interact with our product and identify bugs or UI elements that may not be used as intended. The replays make it easy to see what users are doing on our platform, which is straightforward and insightful. Additionally, the initial setup and onboarding with PostHog were pretty easy and straightforward, which I find quite beneficial. There really isn't another solution that combines this ease of setup with a generous feature set.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main feedback I have is that the PostHog platform is quite complex. I use it maybe once a week, and every time it takes me a while to figure out where the dashboards are. It's just frustrating because I end up losing a couple of seconds or minutes just trying to find where the data lives. There's just so much going on that I don't really need, and it frustrates me a bit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog for analytics and session replays, helping us understand user behavior, identify bugs, and assess UI elements' effectiveness.
GDPR-Compliant Analytics with a Clean UI, But Custom Query Challenges
What do you like best about the product?
I like PostHog for its GDPR compatibility, which is important to me since I dislike those cookie banners. I appreciate the powerful query language and the clean UI. The free tier is enough for me until my projects become more financially successful. The dashboards are fairly simple and easy to use. I also find the SDK simple to use and enjoy using the TypeScript browser and Node.js SDK.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found it difficult to create a dashboard graph based on a custom query that used the dashboard's time filter. I didn't know how to use the selected data range in the query, or if it is automatically added.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog for GDPR compliance and analytics, avoiding cookie banners. It feels simpler and more focused than DataDog, with a free tier that suffices until my projects succeed.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was using Google Analytics before, but I couldn't understand how to use it to accomplish my analytics goals. It wasn't simple. It was too complicated.
PostHog solved that problem for me.
I was easily able to figure out how to get the data I wanted.
Now I am able to understand the users of my website and get some real data.
