Great analytics suite for tech startups

  • December 09, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Good SDK and documentation, easy setup, frequent updates, attention to detail in the product, and fair pricing model
What do you dislike about the product?
Using the platform can be overwhelming, especially for non-technical people who just got the invite to view some metrics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We want to easily log analytics of our product usage with custom events. PostHog allows us to do that with just a few lines of code and it has great opportunities for downstream analysis, weekly Slack messages, and a lot more.

What do you dislike about the product?
Bit clunky to create insights, graphs tend to break, slow
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collecting product analytics and session replays for a prototype

Amazing Features - OOTB analytics, Anonymous tracking, easy setup

  • December 09, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1) Quick and easy setup. Just add the script and we were live.
2) No need to identify users, and avoid PII regulations
3) We started with their free generous plan, and moved to paid.
4) Cohorts are very easy to build and setup
5) Value for money spent
What do you dislike about the product?
I love self onboarding rathar than hiring an expert. Their documentation need to have more videos and guides for advanced analytics. E.g.
1) if users who did event X and Y
2) They having a lot of data, should invent OOTB metrics that connect the root caseus. I love products that give me the next 'actionable' steps, after giving insights. Playbooks?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting insights on how the users are using the product is a goldmine infromation. These patterns and replays help understand the behavior and refine the pages and apps for the masses, instead of building features that will be used by only small fraction of users. How we answer all questions with data.

Powerful, Privacy-Friendly Tool for Growing Projects

  • December 05, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like its cookie-less option to have analytics/insights without annoying users with cookie banners.

It's also is easy to use, the implementation is fas (just a classic snippet), even if you don’t have a lot of technical expertise. It's also easy to use; the UX seems intuitive. I also like its free tier, so I can try things out without worrying about receiving unexpected billing.

In particular, I love the session replay feature for gathering user insights. I can check every few days to understand where users got stuck and understand their behaviour—a must-have to improve UX.

Now, I use it every few days to have an overview of the metrics and/or to check the recordings.

I haven't used customer support so far.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not dislike anything so far, to be honest, just minor things.

I just use some basic features without advanced stuff, like custom events, so it's hard to find problems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm trying it on a side project to test it and I'm fully convinced.

We'll use it soon on a startup project, we want to discover where the users get stuck, their behaviour, so that it's easier to improve the UX.

Probably we'll also use it for beta features.

Posthog makes it easy to report on complex data

  • December 03, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
PostHog makes it easy to generate rich reports from complex website data. Their interface for creating reports is great. And the ability to use SQL like queries makes it easy to generate reports that showcase granular events. I've used other analytics tools before and always found them too complex to use, making it difficult to understand what the reports were showing. PostHog has found a way to make this potentially complex task very easy an intiutive.
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't quite support all SQL features, so sometimes I'll run into query errors that can be unclear to solve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PostHog lets me see what content is the most popular on our website and how users are getting to it.

PostHog has been easy to implement (clear documentation) and use

  • December 03, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of implementation into my existing project. The docs were clear and easy to follow. Also, API was easy to use - I was able to integrate the HQL via the API to get data and build analytics into my app.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is likely not a posthog issue but more of my knowledge gap related to conversion tracking. I find it unclear on how to create a conversion goal and track them. I do understand that every app is different and posthog would not be able to determine this for me easily. It would be cool to have a chrome extension that would allow me to walk through a full conversion which would generate the PH conversion that i wish to track.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
product and web analytics. Power my usage analytics in my app.

Simpler to use than Google, could still be simpler.

  • December 02, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I tried Google to capture telemetry data, and had a really hard time undestanding their concepts and their UI. With PostHog, it was trivial to start sending data and analyzing.
What do you dislike about the product?
PostHog has tons of features. This is great. However, I'm only using 1 feature right now, but I still have every feature presented to me on the dashboard. It's a bit overwhelming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am tracking how many page views my SaaS is getting, how many of these page views are from unique users, and most importantly the custom metrics, which tracks any time a user takes the critical action used for my canary metric. Using PostHog was much simpler than the Google alternative I tried, and much faster go-to-market than building something like this myself.
