Good analytics and best session recording on the market

  • July 26, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simple to install, very powerful interface and best session recordings on the market with immense amount of data and details. Great to see a range of libraries for different technologies and they're well documented too. Very powerful funnel builder.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was pretty difficult to implement user tracking between both server-side and client-side operations and I'm still not sure users are tracked and linked properly in 100% of cases. And pricing for some of the features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ready implementation of A/B testing and session recordings with huge amounts of data that really help to debug problems.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to implement. We love the free tier, its very aforadable. I like the skipping of inactivty in session replay
What do you dislike about the product?
Information is very clutered in the page. The side bar having a vertical text next to horizontal text is confusing and bad ui. Trying to find and understand everything in the page is confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding how our product is being used, Who is using our product. How its being used. Where the pain points are with our customers. getting a DAU count.

The friendliest analytics platform

  • July 22, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using Google Analytics for a long, long time. Everything and everything is possible, but at a cost: your sanity. Nothing is easy, nothing is testable. Any change takes hours to reflect.

And here comes PostHog, recommended to me by a colleague: easy to implement, extendable, configurable, with docs which make sense, and a friendly support. It could not be any more pleasant to use. Every feature I needed was there, ready to use, with friendly tools and even SDKs to help me get started faster. And it works incredible well with single-page applications!
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing to dislike is how they aren't more aggressive with marketing. I didn't hear about them, even after years of using analytics!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analytics for our web site and understanding user frustrations.

Excellent, developer friendly platform for running tests with a nice suite of complementary features

  • July 22, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Posthog is very easy to set up and get running. The UI is intuitive and something that our product and engineering team can collaborate on. We've also started using the feature flag system, which is a nice complement to the core features.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that setting up multiple environments (QA/Test versus Production) was more intuitive and "out of the box." Particularly with feature flags, this feels important to have right away for testing purposes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy to implement and internally-publicize A/B testing results.

Developer AND Product Manager friendly

  • July 22, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Absolutely best-in-class documentation and out-of-the-box support. It was a breeze to get an initial configuration "spike" completed to demonstrate value to stakeholders and evaluate any potential pitfalls. Further development has been a pleasure with the clarity of volumes of documentation. It was also very intuitive and fast to get product, ops, and other departments up to speed with the beautiful & intuitive user interface (and even as a dev, I appreciate the clarity compared to the arcane dashboards of many competitors).

As a small startup moving fast, the self-serve path is a huge time & resource saver to be able to get started without sales calls and contracts. It's a breath of fresh air to have an open project where even without a premium support package there is plenty of questions & answers publically available instead of behind a support portal account & paywall.

Having extra tools such as feature flags & A/B testing under one platform is just the icing on top as we likely couldn't justify the costs in time and cash to implement these from scratch or another vendor otherwise.
What do you dislike about the product?
No first-class support for managing environments (local, staging, production etc). You can create different "projects" for each, but it isn't possible to sync these or easy to share configuration between them (outside of feature flags). This somewhat increases workflow complexity for developers testing new events and analytics without poluting production data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PostHog primarily gives us a base set of product & web analytics, which we use for both internal evaluation of feature success and product direction as well as to communicate progress, status, and value to investors and customers. Session replays also help us with customer support and identifying UI pain points.
