My Go-To for Geeky Analytics Fun

  • February 03, 2024

What do you like best about the product?
Jumping into PostHog was like finding my tribe. It's got this vibe that's just... for devs, you know? The docs are a game-changer—clear, concise, and they actually make sense (a rare find in the dev world). It's like they've got your back before you even know you need it. And the people? Haven't jumped deep into the community pool yet, but the few splashes I've made? Super responsive. Feels good knowing there's help around the corner if you hit a snag.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not all smooth sailing—hit a few bumps here and there. Nothing that made me want to jump ship, though. The crew behind PostHog seems to be on it, patching holes even before they become real problems.

More specifically, had some issues with their feature flags. So I implemented my own instead.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PostHog has been like finding a secret weapon in my coding arsenal. Before, understanding user interactions felt like guesswork, but now it's like having X-ray vision into how users engage with my projects. It cuts through the clutter, giving me crystal-clear insights that guide my decisions. No more piecing together analytics from different sources; PostHog brings it all under one roof, making my life a heck of a lot easier. It's not just about avoiding mistakes; it's about doubling down on what works, refining my approach, and delivering features that users actually want. This isn't just data for the sake of data; it's actionable intelligence that's supercharged my development process, saving me time, and boosting my confidence in every update I roll out. With PostHog, I'm not just coding; I'm creating with purpose, and that's been a game-changer.

What do you like best about the product?
PostHog has been essential for bringing our engineers and product teams together. The suite of products works together perfectly. It was fairly straightforward to implement and add to our product.
What do you dislike about the product?
PostHog provides a variety of products under one roof, which sometimes leads to poor user experience and it is something that can be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PostHog is helping us track and capture product metrics.

Great self-serve all-in-one tool

  • January 29, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's all in one, it does product analytics and experimentation. I like that it's more of a self-serve tool because I don't need regular meetings with a representative trying to help me learn how to use the tool, I want good documentation so I can use the tool at my own pace, and PostHog does that very well. The documentation is well organized and uses videos and animated screenshots to visually reinforce the concepts. Also, their pricing model is quite simple to understand and easy to get started without a big commitment.
What do you dislike about the product?
The funnels and journeys aren't very easy to use, but it could be our test data. I found them hard to understand, but once I have a real use case I would dig more into it. The heatmaps were hard to find and only showed clicks, not scroll maps or anything else I'd expect from a heatmap.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need a product analytics tool to help us understand who are users are and we want to leverage the built-in experimentation tools to run experiments with our hypothesis once we understand our users better.

What do you dislike about the product?
The home page where recordings are listed isn't that intutitive to me. I'm not sure how they set up the ordering for recordings that are displayed
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has helped me identify points on our websites that users find confusing

Great product!

  • January 23, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, great docs, integration was super easy to set up.
What do you dislike about the product?
I hate the way the recordings are charged for. It is charged for per session versus per time. Our use-case has lots of small sessions, and over recording time should be small, but we run through to # of recordings so fast that this feature is useless for us without paying more than our AWS bill.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gives us visibility on product analytics and get a sense of user behavior. The session replay is a great product but the pricing structure on it makes it unusable for smaller, high-volume sessions.
