Migrating from Amplitude to PostHog

  • November 19, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The free tier is generous, and setup was really simple. The SDK is straightforward and it's easy to follow up events in the interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that an identify event goes through your quota is a bit misleading as it essentially will cost 1 event per user even if they do not generate any tracked event.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Get insights on how users interact with my app.

Run A/B tests and experiments in order to have a definite answer about if a change is impactful (e.g. when assessing conversion).

Better, Scrappier Mixpanel

  • November 17, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Setup is easy, clear pricing, nice to have regular analytics and screen recordings in same tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
screen recordings are often missing some visual details. Great because we feel like we're getting it for "free" by already having an account, but would be harder to justify paying for individually.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Basic user funnel tracking and being able to see detailed views of how our users interact with the site via session recordings

My go-to tool for analytics

  • November 17, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
First I love the features the tool offer. Then, the simplicity of implementations and integrate with other tools.
And the ability to create custom insights based on a lot of properties is crazy!
Great tool
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see the heatmap without going to the live page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Thanks to Posthog I do not need 10 tools to make : analytics, heatmap, AB tests & dashboarding.
Just one (and great) tool.

Lots of features but easy to get started

  • November 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Posthog is a feature rich service that worked for us almost right out of the box. It was quite easy to set up feature flags and monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
Due to the large number of features the user interface can be a bit daunting at first. It takes some time to learn how to navigate and find what you are looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using the feature flags and it has greatly simplified the process of enabling and disabling features in production.

Intuitive tool which assist multiple roles

  • November 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The intuitive it is built
The JS npm package which made it easy to integrate
The Slack channel we have with the PH team that provides fast help and support
The fast development of the product (for example surveys feature)
What do you dislike about the product?
Replays sometimes appear broken
Managing multiple projects causes links to break
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
First of all, using the A/B testing we are using it as sort of a CMS. This enables multiple roles to collaborate and ship product changes without needing developers.
Second of all, we create product charts there to measure features' effectiveness after rollout and make decisions based on that
Third, We are also using it to troubleshoot issues with the Sentry integration

Amazing all-in-one analytics tool!

  • November 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Insights are easy to surface on your own as an engineer. We use feature flags and experiments to help us roll out features confidently, and the way Posthog combines both of those products is incredible. And the integrations with Segment has made Posthog super easy for us to adopt in our product.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've noticed some issues with how the web SDK loads flags—but we're hoping those will get resolved soon
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Posthog is huge for us as a startup. We use it for launching features with feature flags and experiments. Cohorts and it's own query language, HogQL, make it easy to target the right users. And we heavy use of dashboards and the Slack integrations to get everyone on our team visibility into what's happening with our product.

The missing link between your product and your users

  • November 10, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Onboarding and setting up my PostHog instance was a piece of cake. Configuring my application to identify users and provide contextually relevant information to PostHog about the actions they were performing in my app went smoothly.

I really love the session replay feature. It's honestly incredible to see exactly what my users are seeing, and to get feedback within the app with the new surveys feature.

I'm confident that PostHog will 10x our customer support as well as they try and help users who run into issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's pretty hard to dislike anything about the tool, at this point.

If I have to provide critique, it seems like most of the dashboard templates and default insights are only relevant to SaaS companies, not companies building internal tooling for their employees.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consistently, we've had internal issues bridging the gap between engineering and our end-users.

Additionally, we have not equipped our support team with the tools they need to make a maximum impact on addressing issues.

PostHog offers a solution to both. We can now see with granular detail exactly how our users are using our products, what they like and don't like about it, and track all of it over time. And, our support team has a place to go and consult when something goes unexpectedly for a user.

Interesting all-in-one web analytics solution bundled into an open source project.

  • November 06, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Dashboard Templates seem to be the best feature. I'd bring them up-front though, and not keep it hidden.
What do you dislike about the product?
No dislikes as such but a nicer onboarding experience would be cool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly helps us with understanding the kind of traffic we're getting + user behaviour.
