PostHog Review: Best Analytics tool
What do you like best about the product?
Probably one of the best analytics tools out there, it automatically creates events if I didn't manually create any, based on the buttons on the webpage. Not just creating events but also gives insights right out of the box without any configuration on the dashboard. Integration just can be done with single line of code.
The other best thing is Referring domain, I don't have to add UTM parameters manually it automatically detects the referring domain and gives a dashboard based on it.
The session replays are also good to understand the user behaviour and know the edge cases that we might have missed while building.
The toolbar is the best thing, let's us know which button has been pressed the most, is the CTA working or not also let's us A/B test using this.
Last but not least, the free tier is just very generous and I love it.

What do you dislike about the product?
A bit overwhelming at the start, moving from google analytics it's not just very intuitive, but now that I've used it for a while I love it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been using Google Analytics and Clevertap for a while and having two different dashboards for doing the same thing(understand user behaviour) was a bit painful, we found two options posthog and one more similar but posthog was best for our use case as we need session replays as well because we had a lot of edge cases and we knew we were missing out on lot of users because of the error cases.
Great Developer Experience, Think Custom Properties could improve.
What do you like best about the product?
How quick and easy it is to set up in my React applications. I haven't reached out to customer support but they've reached out to me already which I appreciate. I have to update these events quite often so it does help that the Developer experience is quite flawless. Maybe (?) more examples in docs for more complicated use cases but otherwise no complaints.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like something about the custom properties passed into the events need to stand out more. We as users place those custom properties so they are mightingly preferred by us. They shouldn't just blend in with every other property as it makes them harder to distinguish and frankly feels like too much data. (But I understand too much is better than too little). Something to handle the UX of dealing with custom properties would improve the prduct greatly in my opinion!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We currently have a demo app that we are supporting for our start up so we are collecting user input information to understand when (or if) a user gets stuck or leaves the demo early or anything along those lines. Basiically, to better understand how our demo app is being received by the user.
Awesome tool
What do you like best about the product?
Posthog was easy to integrate in several of my Nextjs project and it provides me with very useful insight and understanding on how my users interact with my projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really hope they are working on a mobile app. This would be even more useful
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It give me insights on how users interact with my products and help me to support them better
Complete, ready to go solution

The documentation is very clear and complete.
What do you dislike about the product?
Haven't found anything yet. All the features are pretty straightforward to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Need of a tool to collect data about how users behave and use our app (i.e. specific features of the app) and to display those metrics.
The Easy Button for Product Analytics and Insight
What do you like best about the product?
Incredibly straighforward to set up and troubleshoot. Ability to identify users, export data to a Martech stack, and get into user information all feels at your fingertips with minimal effort. Integrating our website was only a few lines of code. And small thing, but I love the brand copy. A few delightful easter eggs in the tool which always make using software fun.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI of the page feels a bit overwhelming at first, and some features feel a bit buried.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We knew we wanted to monitor our web app, but felt overwhelmed with how tools might integrate with each other, when to use, etc. PostHog made it easy to just pick one thing and get a majority of the value we are looking for as an early start up.
Incredibly accessible for small projects
What do you like best about the product?
I wanted something similar to Amplitude, which I've used professionally. I'm a big fan, and I'm glad to have found PostHog. It does the same things, plus more. The interface is intuitive. API and docs are well designed. I don't feel limited on the base plan.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, I can't find any downsides as of yet. I'm not working with it at scale just yet, and it meets my needs as a single-handed business.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly, I wanted to know how my ads were funneling in customers, and what their actions were on my app. With PostHog I was able to identify breakages in my email system, and prioritize my feature roadmap, using real data.

What do you dislike about the product?
The web app interface is packed with features and can be a bit overwhelming when you are getting started
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Giving us insights into which features are used, and how our features are perfoming. For example, we have been able to identify usability problems and monitor which features are most engaging for our customers
Really like it, absolute dream to use coming over from Google Analytics
What do you like best about the product?
Super easy to integrate, server side compatibiity and the screen recording and A/B features are a bonus.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much! I did get caught out a few times with the dashboards though and having to click the reload button to get the latest data, that wasn't obvious and it be nice if it reloaded when I come to the page.
Especially when I created a real time dashboard, that'd be great if updated in actual real time.
Other than that so far so good!

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easily capture all our analytics, quickly and easily on both front and back end. Saves dev time.
Major Boost in Development Accuracy
What do you like best about the product?
The amount of tools to measure user behavior, and also the overall friendliness towards modern web development tools and languages.
What do you dislike about the product?
the lack of dark mode and the steep learning curve for new users that are maybe less tech-savy users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Utilizing Posthog for my product's analytics has been a game-changer. It's like having a crystal ball that reveals exactly what my users want and how they interact with each feature. Every click, every navigation path, and every user preference is captured, analyzed, and transformed into actionable insights. This has empowered me to make each update more user-centric than ever. The session replay feature is like a window into the user's world, showing me where they struggle and thrive. It’s a bit like being a digital detective, piecing together clues to perfect the user experience. A/B testing used to be a shot in the dark, but now, with Posthog, it's a strategic tool that lets me experiment with confidence, knowing that I'm basing decisions on solid data. The result? My product has evolved into something that not only meets but anticipates user needs, making every feature release feel like a hit. It’s more than just analytics; it's a roadmap to user satisfaction.
Very easy to setup and great quality products
What do you like best about the product?
We mostly wanted to get a reliable session recording tool and finally are quite happy with posthog. The product is high quality and very reliable.
Their blogs are informative about what issues they faced and how they solved them. Which made us trust the product even more.
We were using ms clarity earlier but switched to posthog

What do you dislike about the product?
Haven't found anything to dislike yet. Its quite easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were using clarity earlier and we had a few issues like unexplained endings in recordings and a lot of missing recordings. We couldn't find a reason for it and also got no help from the ms team.
I read a blog on posthog's forum about how they dealt with such issues. Their approach seemed reasonable and just the focus on those questions meant that they had already handled such issues. This was very affirming that at they care if their product works well unlike ms.
While using this belief was reinforced and now we're pemanently using posthog.
