Quick to Install, Versatile but Heavy Interface

  • November 30, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the result presentation interfaces of PostHog; they are really very clean and offer great freedom, allowing the creation of custom dashboards somewhat like Notion. I particularly appreciated the simplicity of installation on my React project, which took less than 5 minutes, and I was able to see results immediately, which is very convenient for sharing with clients, including those who are not tech-savvy. The integration is also quite good, with many useful features for easy interaction. PostHog allows us to build our own charts with total freedom in their layout and in the choice of axes, which facilitates the customization of data presentations. Moreover, the numerous templates offered provide great starting blocks for quickly creating attractive visuals.
What do you dislike about the product?
The PostHog interface is considered quite heavy, particularly the dashboard which seems overloaded with information. This can make it difficult to get started and might especially intimidate non-technical customers at first, as the interface can appear quite complex to understand. Fortunately, the use of the recently installed PostHog AI helps navigate the interface, which is an advantage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog to track the statistics of our sites, obtain KPIs, and understand user behavior easily thanks to its simple installation.

Simplifies Cookie-Less Analytics, Needs Dashboard Improvement

  • November 29, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the cookie-less feature of PostHog because it allows us to collect web analytics without showing a cookie banner, which significantly enhances the user experience on our website. This feature is particularly important to me as it centralizes our data efficiently without compromising on the quality of analytics we gather. Additionally, I appreciate the heat map tool within PostHog. This feature has been instrumental for us, allowing us to visualize user interactions effectively and strategically focus attention where it's needed most. It has even eliminated the need for us to use Hotjar, exemplifying PostHog's capability as a comprehensive analytics tool that simplifies our analytics process while providing in-depth insights.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see the dashboard somewhat simpler, or at least better organized. The landing page doesn't help us, we have to navigate to dashboards > media dashboard or directly to the web analytics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog to centralize data and collect cookie-less web analytics. The heat map feature helps focus attention effectively, eliminating the need for a separate tool like Hotjar.

Overall, the software meets my expectations perfectly, and I'm likely to recommend PostHog highly to others.

They’re an all-in-one platform helping me with all my analytics and error tracking. Their session replay is very useful on top of their A/B testing. Plus I got free credits for one year which is really helpful for my startup!
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, it has all the features I need. Perhaps cron monitoring would be a good addition.

Valuable Product Analytics with Room for UI Improvement

  • November 25, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate the survey tool and recordings feature in PostHog as a user experience designer and researcher. It's incredibly easy to gather user feedback, which I can then seamlessly integrate into my projects. The survey tool is versatile, allowing me to conduct general NPS surveys or target specific URLs with customizable options for appearance and timing, greatly enhancing its utility. Being able to use surveys to have users sign up for additional interviews further extends its functionality. I also find the recordings feature extremely valuable, as it allows me to observe user interactions and identify areas for user experience improvements, making PostHog an indispensable tool for understanding and enhancing product analytics.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the dashboarding and setup in PostHog a bit tricky, making it challenging for our team to ensure data accuracy. Despite the appealing branding and charming hedgehog mascot, the underlying user interface can become quite confusing when all embellishments are removed. Additionally, the initial setup process was not straightforward; it has taken months, and my team is still working on it. This complexity has been a hurdle in our integration workflow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog for understanding user behavior and errors, enhancing our product analytics, and gathering feedback with their survey tool. It helps improve user experience by tracking interactions and customizing surveys for precise feedback.

Easy Setup and Versatile Analytics with PostHog

  • November 24, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love PostHog's ability to self-host, which provides greater control over the data and environment. The good free tier is very appealing, offering substantial value without immediate financial commitment. I find the platform easy to use, making onboarding and day-to-day operations smooth and stress-free. Their great website also stands out, potentially indicating a user-friendly design and comprehensive resources or information. Additionally, the initial setup was very easy, thanks to the Codex CLI, which efficiently handled most of the configuration process, enhancing my overall experience by reducing setup time and complexity.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features are more basic than expected, such as the event dictionary with no possibility to examine key usage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find PostHog provides an integrated solution, combining product analytics and LLM analytics, which replaces a patchwork of different tools.

Incomplete Documentation, Annoying UI and High Cost Dampen Potential

  • November 24, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that PostHog meets our basic needs for generating heatmaps. Even though there are not many standout features we need right now, it effectively provides the insights we require about application usage. I value how it enables understanding of which areas of our app are utilized the most, fulfilling its primary purpose efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
The integration setup with PostHog was very rough around the edges, which made the initial setup process not easy. There was confusion about whether I could have multiple environments under a single API key. Apparently there was an announcement that you could, but then that was quietly removed. The heatmaps feature being in beta demonstrated some instability or incomplete elements. The dashboard UI included distracting touches like a desktop imitation complete with a screensaver, which I found annoying. The product appeared to be heavily targeted at sales and marketing, but the developer documentation was neither easy to find nor as comprehensive as I would prefer. The projected billing for the first month seemed quite high for what was being offered, causing concern. I figured out in time to turn off autocapture, a feature apparently not necessary for heatmaps, but I'm not sure it'll still be worth the cost
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog for generating heatmaps, solving the issue of identifying which areas of the app are utilized.

All-in-One Solution with Self-Hosting Advantage

  • November 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that PostHog is an all-in-one solution which significantly suits our company needs. The fact that PostHog is self-hostable stands out as a huge advantage for us, especially since it allows us to retain user session recordings that we previously lost due to our past integration being blockable. I find the capability of using PostHog alongside other tools like Datadog for logs to be really beneficial, integrating seamlessly into our existing setup. Despite the slightly more technical initial setup due to the self-hosting, the benefits far outweigh this minor inconvenience. Overall, it's perfect for our use case, and I am fully satisfied with its performance, so much so that I would highly recommend it to others.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial setup experience with PostHog was slightly more technical due to the self-hosting aspect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog to fix real user bugs with screen recordings and heatmaps, and its self-hosting feature prevents blocked sessions, unlike previous solutions.

Superior Session Recording, Effortless Setup

  • November 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use PostHog primarily for capturing recordings of sessions from the users of our apps and websites, which is invaluable. I love how session recordings allow us to observe precisely how users interact with our applications, showing us the areas where users spend the most time and providing insights into decision-making processes. This feature is incredibly useful for identifying bugs we might otherwise miss. The session recording in PostHog is the best I've seen in any product, providing a clearer picture compared to others I've tried. The reporting feature is also extremely beneficial, allowing us to share usage insights with other team members effectively. It is easy to build reports by integrating pipeline data from an SQL database with interaction events, which brings even more value as we can demonstrate to staff how users engage with our software. Additionally, I appreciate how simple the initial setup of PostHog was, making the transition smooth and enhancing our workflow efficiency. Overall, PostHog's features significantly enhance our understanding of user interactions, and I am confident enough in its performance to recommend it with a solid 10 out of 10.
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes experience issues with session recordings in PostHog, particularly when it comes to handling layouts and dialogs displayed by our Ionic/React applications. The recordings occasionally show these elements multiple times when they only appear once in real life, or sometimes the images do not load properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog for session recordings, providing insights on user interaction, identifying bugs, and sharing these insights with colleagues through reporting.
