Posthog is great for startups with limited bandwidth and a need for data
What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy to set up, good community support, great developer docs. Does many critical tasks in one package.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly it's a great tool. The team just needs to work on brand awareness, I've used Mixpanel and Amplitude and their sales are much more active. Posthog would grow more if they had better GTM.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easier to user than GA4. I better understand user behavior and the session replay feature is as good as fullstory at an affordable price. I am semi technical and was able to set up autotrack.
Love the user recordings - a huge unlock for optimizing product design
What do you like best about the product?
Viewing user bahavior and then being able to dig into that users other behaviors to identify retention hooks.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a lot when you frist home in. It has a friendly tone, but it's a big job to get setup. Though I don't think this is worse than competitors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility into user behavior at scale and then being able to zoom in.
Great documentation. Great pricing. Ok session video recording.
What do you like best about the product?
Pricing and documentation.
The UI is also great and quite intuitive to navigate around.

What do you dislike about the product?
The video session recording is not as good as I hoped it would be.
I notice that fonts in our React web application don't look the same in the video recordings and there are other little UI things that don't 100% match the UI.
Additionally, the layout with the side-by-side video + network request timeline is very "squeezed". IMO LogRocket's layout is better in this regard.
I also find the video recordings to be janky at times.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We would like to better understand what is happening when a user faces an issue and video recording seems to be promising to help us achieve this.
Best open source solution for product analytics
What do you like best about the product?
The integration is very straightforward, the UI is simple and clear enough to navigate for most post people. Our data science team, product managers, and engineers are using it, and are happy with it. During setup the SSO integration worked out of the box, and it's nice to see that the pricing is event based and not user based. Having it accessible to the greater number without having to pay for it (some users might log in twice a month) is a great deal.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing is a bit misleading, we've been intensive users of feature flags and struggled to find out why our costs boomed. The events billed where not straightfoward to find in the dashboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We want to analyze the behaviour of our users to build better products. That involves identifying where they spend time, what they struggle with, doing experiments and then checking if our experiment improved the situation or not, against a control group. Posthog helps us do that.
Comprehensive solution for analytics and much much more!
What do you like best about the product?
Implementation was incredibly easy, and my team was able to port over feature flags and mixpanel events with ease. This dramatically increased our speed to value, and drove a lot of immediate alignment.
What do you dislike about the product?
As with any new system, there's a learning curve. The team is embracing the new approaches and features with excitement!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed an A/B and multi varient testing solutions asap; PostHog was the clear winner. We're also planning to use PH for feature flag management and session replay.
All features you wanted on one platform
What do you like best about the product?
All its features offered, as well as being oss. You can run this yourself.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dashboard can be better design with better nevigations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding our products and users interaction with it.
Just Started - Lots of Features
What do you like best about the product?
Event tracking. Session replay is also very interesting, but concerned about data security.
What do you dislike about the product?
So many features and options when starting out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
User insight
Feature-rich, potentially overwhelming
What do you like best about the product?
PostHog provides an all-in-one solution to manage your entire product pipeline. The most important feature to us has been the ability to directly see how users are using the the service. That allows us to easily pinpoint product painpoints and provides developers with a direct way to reproduce bugs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting started with PostHog can be a bit overwhelming, particularly if you're not looking to use the full complement of features that the platform has to offer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using session replay, PostHog is allowing us to reproduce long-standing bugs that were otherwise difficult to track down. It is also providing us with much deeper insight into how our users use the product and what areas need improvement.
Not suitable for developers
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to set up and use. I was able to get up and running with PostHog in just a few minutes. The interface is clean and intuitive, and the documentation is excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
can't see requests body and responses body in the replay network tab, it's a major blocker for us
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
user research, debugging user errors
Good but too messy / unclean
What do you like best about the product?
The free pricing, no cookies required (right?), and the details it offers.
What do you dislike about the product?
- too messy interface!
-- dashboards:
--- why is there an edit icon next to the title? should only be visible in the edit mode.
--- why is it showing "description (optional)" and an edit icon? Too distracting in viewing mode, unncessary!
--- who cares about "last modified xxx days ago by yyy"? too distracting, not useful.
--- graphs like 24hour pageviews have many x-axis labels all with the same date. could be condensed: only show hours and only show date when day changes. always date+hour is too distracting.
-- When clicking on a project it should directly go to the dashbaord it takes 1-2 click to get there. Who cares about "your recently viewed insights", "newly seen persons", and "recent recordings" when clicking on the project?
-- What does $pageview mean? I'm a developer so this looks like a variable? What is the average user supposed to assume? Looks ugly and the $ is not helping/self-explanatory.
- why is there no meta dashbaord across multiple projects? First thing in the morning i want to see all of them on one screen. I know there are technical reasons but these can be overcome if you want!
- I have several different projects open in several browser-windows+tab: why do you think you should "switch" the project for me? Also the "switch back to project xxx" button does nothing. Luckily F5 reloads the proper dashbaord I was looking at in that tab an hour gao.

Replacement for GA. Looks good so far, I hope it can do all the stuff GA did (as far as that is possible without cookies).
