Needed a better early stage, founder friendly alternative to Hotjar

Great insight from PostHog, the recorder videos are great!
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how easy it is to setup and how open the company is as. The recorded videos are fantastic and enable us (a very early stage business) to quickly see where customers are getting stuck.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing I don't like really. The only thing I would say is there is a lot on the dashboard and webapp. It would be good to have a bit more hand holding as part of onboarding.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It enables us to see how our customers are using our platform, improve our UX and see what features they aren't using. It's been a game changer for us and we couldn't live without it!
Self-hosted Posthog manages 3-5mio records per day
What do you like best about the product?
Basic setup was really quick and we got results really fast. Also the user recordings were captured and gave us results about some issues on site instantly.
The heatmaps shown on sites also give us information about what the users are clicking the most.

What do you dislike about the product?
As we were using self-hosted Docker instances, there were some stability issues. Resolving those issues was pretty frustrating as we couldn't find proper support. There could be a Slack channel for self-hosted users.
Self-hosted PostHog also has many components - big ecosystem. Keeping all those services running without issues is pretty hard as they depend on each other. We often didn't know where to start resolving the problem - is it the Cloudhouse, Plugin or Zookeeper instance failing?

It gives us instant analytics about how many users gets to the product page and where in the shopping process they lefts off.

What do you like best about the product?
PostHog is an Open-source platform that is very convenient for anyone who wants to track and visualise their data. Creating dashboards to visualise the data and app usage patterns is very easy. It is straightforward to track the actions performed on the app and which feature is most widely used. It saves a lot of time and effort.
What do you dislike about the product?
I didn't find any major issues with Posthog as such, but one thing is the loading issue. It takes a long time to load the Live events sometimes. Other than that, there are no major dislike's about the PostHog
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to view the events logged by the mobile applications easily. Helps me analyse the usage pattern and the features that are more frequently used to help me focus more on those screens. Also it is very easy to create dashboards and record the events and visualise the data in a much better way. In insights, we check the Click Actions performed on a particular event. We have created a bunch of dashboards of critical events that we monitor regularly.

I wish canvas elements were tracked better

What do you like best about the product?
PostHog has been lifechanging for our small startup. We were struggling with other tools, and now we can finally see exactly which users are engaging with which screens - and how we can keep improving our platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, no complaints! The only slight bummer is that we can't quite tell the user's identity (e.g. from their email) until they login for the first time. We don't currently force users to logout and log back in, but will be doing a broader launch soon in which they'll have to login again, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Understanding which features users go to most, any screens causing trouble, and getting deep on our power user behaviors.

Tracking live events , insights and recordings are too good and helpfull. Analytics in dashboards are very usefull.

Some time event tracking gets delayed. .

It solves analytics problem where we track live events of our application.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like About PostHog is the Insights, Dashboard and Live events. It helps us during testing; it is even saving us time. PostHog is easy to use, and we can learn easily and fast. Tracking events is the one major thing i like in PostHog.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no such major thing I dislike about this tool. The only thing is we face a loading issue while testing events. Other than that, there is no major dislike.
