All-in-one analytics suite
What do you like best about the product?
The software is very feature-rich from being able to do A/B tests, to deploying feature flags and doing lots of analysis based on their tracking. We previously used separate tools for tracking and analysis, but with Posthog we can combine all of that into one application. Also, we are actively looking into hosting Posthog on our servers to prevent the blocking of third-party scripts and maintain full control of our data.
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation of how to use Posthog sometimes lags a bit of detail. Hence, there is some learning and discovery required. Also, the pricing model based on events doesn't come in as handy as pricing per MTUs (although this is a case-by-case decision).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analysing user behaviour on our marketing landing pages and in our web-app. Our product team works much more data-driven and informed since deploying Posthog.
PostHog- No worries for the Logs.
What do you like best about the product?
One of the best tools for creating API and UI Logs. This is one of the best analytical tools which can be used to gather information about user behavior and application behavior too.
What do you dislike about the product?
UI part of Posthog needs some more improvement where we should get the access to extract the analytics more clearly and as per our requirement. moreover, there could be a more user-friendly approach so that it can not require more engineering to set up on-premise.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have created an app where we don't leave the scope of logging and if we implement the logs for this app that would take more time, here the post hog helped us to collect the relavant data of our App.
Great software but a couple of pain points hoping to be resolved and a little buggy at times

Love that it's self-hosted and having complete control of the data.
The recordings are super useful, as is the fact that events are automatically captured and setting up custom ones is really easy.

What do you dislike about the product?
Software is sometimes buggy and it fails to do certain chart types for some reason, e.g growth accounting doesn't work with filters, and I'm really missing some sort of ability to filter entire dashboards in one go.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gives us insights into how users use our products, so we can make more informed decisions about how to prioritise new features and developments, and what get the most use.

I love how I can capture data from all my platforms and use it to make good decisons

I had to fork the library and use a custom dashboard to actually get all the analysis I wanted

Micro and Macro analysis. It allows me to capture data so easily
Powerful Tool with room to grow
What do you like best about the product?
Post hog gives you amazing tooling right out of the box. Onboarding and setup was a breeze. It probably took me 5 minutes to get it launched on the website and start seeing the traffic. The screen recordings are an excellent feature for smaller businesses.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the downside is that the UI is a bit cluttered. I'm sure there is more it can do, but I find it pretty hard to navigate/discover features. Also, would be great to get some sort of access to basic SQL. I would love to run very basic counts. Possibly the feature exists and I've just not found it in the UI yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using it to see how users interact with our site. Also for basic analytics around which of our blog posts are most popular for our readers. This shapes the direction of our content.

What do you like best about the product?
Posthog has everything we need to help track outreach and work out where our leads are coming from and hence invest time and resources in the right places.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is little to complain about with Post hog. There are a few bugs they need to work through most frustrating one is that there is no way to filter out staff recordings by IP.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PostHog allows us to track where our leads come from easily, review what content on our website they engaged with and how we could overall improve user experience on our website to increase conversion rates.
Compare to GA, it's very easy to use, the report and experiment is really powerful.
What do you like best about the product?
Very flexible insight and report, especially the user path and funnel, the dashboard subscribe can auto send the report weekly. Feature flag and experiments are very easy to run a AB testing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unlike GA, Posthog cannot easily integrate with the Google search console, and the source analytics are still too weak.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Group analytics is really helpful for us, since our system is multi-to-multi structure, the multiple group analytics can give more dimension to see the customer performances.

Very little documentation, and tutorials, for example identifying users, was really hard

User Data analysis with postHog
What do you like best about the product?
Basically its a open source product for analytics that what I like most. It is very helpful to build better products by collecting users events, session recording.
What do you dislike about the product?
Something its not record customer events and session. Providing less space. Its very difficult to setup local environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its help us to capture the user events by which we are analysis the user requirements clearly and can provide better products according to user need. And it also manage to maintain the logs of events done by user.

- great new features all the time, really good feature velocity.
- great company and developer-centric ethos.
- autocaptures "just work" most of the time, very little risk of lost data if you forget to tag things - it's all still there in autocapture events elements.
- events, actions, cohorts are great building block concepts once you get used to them.
- posthog cloud very painless after we moved from self hosted.
- apps/plugins make getting data to BigQuery etc very easy.

- a little tricky to get additional data beyond raw events into your datalake - eg persons data is very important but need to pull it yourself via persons api (tricky and complex).
- some of the visualizations a little limited or immature still, for example very limited support for just pulling tables of data into custom reports.
- limited ability for multiple breakdowns of events sliced by different properties.
- lack of data connectors beyond plugins for streaming on raw events.

Best in class product telemetry. PostHog is a crucial part in enabling us to use data to answer almost any product analytics based question.
