Best in class data quality tool
What do you like best about the product?
Monte Carlo default monitors make sure you don't miss any anomaly in your data. Specially of help are that they also work with field segmentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only way to integrate with Monte Carlo right now is through Redshift. If there was an API/SDK so we could send data or sampled data we would be able to monitor other data sources such as Kafka.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monte Carlo allows us to detect and prevent problems with our data because of problems in our infrastructure.

I appreciate its simplicity and how intuitive it is

Not much . I think there is no option to set threshold between two values.

What do you like best about the product?
Monte Carlo is the tool to ensure data reliability, with their comprehensive approach to Data Observability. As someone who has navigated the complexities of data for several years, I have found Monte Carlo to be an awesome tool for our organization!
Monte Carlo is very good in providing real-time insights and diagnostics across various data tools (snowflake, tableau, atlan, fivetran, dbt and airflow) . MC stands out because of its ability to automatically detect and alert on data issues (and automatically determine thresholds). This proactive approach has saved us time that would have otherwise been spent in troubleshooting or support.
The user interface is intuitive, making it easy for our team (and others), regardless of their technical expertise, to monitor data observability through the different dashboards and monitors. Monte Carlo's integration with a lot of different data stack technologies ensures seamless adoption and enhances our existing workflows (like previously mentoined).
Moreover, the customer service is very good as well! The support team is knowledgeable and responsive, providing good guidance and quick resolutions. This level of support, and also very good documentation, creates a user-friendly experience that speeds up problem-solving and root-cause analysis.

What do you dislike about the product?
A small point of consideration is the cost. Monte Carlo is an investment, especially for smaller businesses or startups (like we are). The pricing model, while fair compared to the tool’s awesome features and benefits, might be unrealistic for companies with limited budgets or those just beginning to establish a data infrastructure.
A last (and a reletevaly small point is), while customer support is generally excellent some is based in the US. As a European based company this slows down the response time sometimes.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monte Carlo continuously monitors our data for anomalies, discrepancies, and interruptions, using ML to predict and alert on potential issues before they escalate. This proactive approach reduces data downtime and ensures the reliability and accuracy of our data, which is crucial for making informed business decisions and maintaining operational continuity!
When data incidents do occur, Monte Carlo automatically diagnoses the root cause (when possible), providing detailed insights into where and why a problem has occurred. This includes lineage tracking that visualizes data dependencies and interactions. The tool's ability to quickly pinpoint the source of the issues speeds up resolution times and reduces the manual effort required, allowing us to focus on other work.
Monte Carlo also offers nice alert tuning capabilities, allowing us to customize thresholds and sensitivity settings to balance the number of alerts. By fine-tuning these alerts, we avoid overload and ensure that the team only receives notifications about significant issues, improving focus and response effectiveness. It also learns to set these thresholds automatically, which ensures that we are not spending unnecesary time to change these thresholds manually all the time (like we did in dbt before).
The tool also enables collaboration by providing a shared platform where data issues, metrics, and updates are transparently communicated across teams. The integration with Slack also helps with this! This centralized view enhances teamwork and decision-making. It saves time because all communication/information is in one place and transparent for everyone.

Awesome tool for data governance and insights
What do you like best about the product?
This is an awesome tool forr data governance and insights. ML powered monitoring helps in catch any anamolies or mismatches. Also has a pretty good data lineage solution. The inbuilt custom monitoring solution is very help full if you want to build something specific to your use case. The suppport is very good. Its very easy to use and implementation is a breeze. I use this pretty much daily.
What do you dislike about the product?
The data lineage solution needs to improve more and if it can integrate with other databases would be really awesome.

MC helps us pretty much in catch any data anomolies.

Para equipos de data engineering, todos los monitores son muy utiles. Freshness, volume and schema changes are very valuable
Excellent tool with good interface, allowing for instant reaction to data issues

Swift integration with Slack. Ease of configuration for the monitors, clearly made with data engineers in mind but also usable by less experienced users.

It takes a while to fine tune the alerts, some tables don't lend themselves much to automatic AI recognition of their thresholds

Finding data anomalies which can depend on many factors. MC is agnostic and we can set up monitors to understand if the problem is in the data source or in our pipelines.

Can be difficult to stay on top of alerts and ensure they are being addressed, but is more of an organisational problem

* Enabling fast time to resolution for data issues reducing internal customer complaints on timeliness of dashboards and internal processes
* Highlighting and allowing tracing of issues which may never have been spotted or only come to light much later such as unusual traffic patterns / data growth which point to other tech issues which need to be addressed. This can help avoid bad business decision making related to bad data.

What do you like best about the product?
This tool provides customised interface where we can create our own monitors and also both options available to create monitor using code and web ui....

In our case there is no any option available to test code in dev, There is directly prod env and only there we can create and test our monitor.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This tool helps us to understand table behaviour and gives alerts if table data is changed or table schema changed or anything suspecius happened with table. This table reduces our time and we dont need to monitor all tables on daily basis, This tool gives alart if any rule breaches. There are multiple anomalies catagories like Schema change, Volume Anomaly, Freshness anomaly, SQL breach rule anomaly and meny other similar anomalies are there which helps us to monitor frequently.
Also there is feature where we can create custom monitors according to our requirement which help us to monitor difficult cases as well

What do you like best about the product?
Montecarlo seamlessly integrates with database and Integration tools to bring imformation and incedents in single place. Very easy to monitor end to end data flow to provide quality data to users.

1. not able to import or export table list to excel.

we are able to identify and data anomolies better like volume change/schema change/freshness. ability to create tickets and track the progress in one place is very useful.
