Built for sales dev. outreach, not customer outreach
What do you like best about the product?
Efficient and easy to set up email and phone campaigns for sales development. I used Outreach for this at a previous company and it made workflows much more efficient. In my current role in customer success, if I happen to have a list of contacts that I need to send a message to that doesn't require a response (i.e. a post-webinar email), I'll use Outreach. If a response is required, most of the people I'm emailing have other teammates I send the email to and Outreach is not set up for team outreach.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using Outreach for customer success is a headache. I can't reach out to a team and have their sequence stopped if one team member responds. This means that for one team, an email goes out to each person and if I don't manually pause all of their sequences when one person responds, they'll get the next email in the sequence and get annoyed because they know their team member already responded. Because of this, I almost never use Outreach.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For sending out a single email to a list of individuals, Outreach is helpful. It saves time as I don't have to create an email, paste in the body and subject line and email address, rinse and repeat.
Great tool but requires a lot of maintenance
What do you like best about the product?
It's user friendly and increases activity metrics dramatically. Detailed reporting and automated A/B testing for emails make it easy to adjust strategy and messaging.
What do you dislike about the product?
Support is done through a ticketing system and you don't always get the answers. We didn't get a ton of help when we laid out the configuration. NOTE: if your CRM/Salesforce data is not clean, your Outreach instance will not function properly. This is definitely not a set and forget it product. You will need a dedicated admin to manage the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team had poor activity metrics and we had no way of tracking it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great tool if you have the internal resources to maintain it. Your CRM/Salesforce data needs to be pretty clean and you must have well defined business logic for this tool to work correctly.
A Powerful Tool for Sales Professionals
What do you like best about the product?
With proper set-up and management, Outreach enables young reps to understand proper sales methodology and put the right message in front of the right prospect at the right time. For those with more sales experience, it allows you to automate your more tedious tasks seamlessly and consistently.
What do you dislike about the product?
If everyone on your team isn't using Outreach, then using the Meetings feature isn't as helpful. Some of the sync set-ups can be a little confusing, but you get used to it eventually.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scaling up our outbound sales team has allowed us to have some of the most meaningful conversations with prospects, and it allows us to understand what tactics and what messaging are most effective.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure that you take training seriously and have someone actively managing sequences, template, integrations, and measuring activity and outcomes. Don't buy it thinking it will fix all of your sales challenges.
Great Tool for Outbound Prospecting, but Needs Work on the Admin Side
What do you like best about the product?
Outreach allows you to scale your sales team to manage a lot of different campaigns at once. The tool is especially useful for outbound prospecting, where you can use it for one to many campaigns to cast a wide net without much effort.
The user interface allows you a lot of control as a user, when it comes to timing and triggers based on activities. We especially enjoy the call task creation when a prospect clicks a link, or opens an email a certain amount of times. That feature alone has helped our team focus on engaged prospects in their campaigns a lot better.
The Salesforce plugin works great and hasn't ever been an issue for our team. That alone has been worth the money for us. We are able to keep almost all of our activities logged on the appropriate Salesforce object.

While I think the tool is stellar for the end user, it could use some help on the admin side.
Outreach allows throttles for sequences, but in a strange way. You can limit the number of active users in a sequence or the number of people that can be added to a sequence per day. When you're managing more than 3 sequences though, it's really hard to know how many emails will be going out per day per sequence. Outreach has a hard and fast limit on how many emails you can send per week per user. It ends up being capped at 1000 emails per working day. When you have a general outbound sequence running in parallel with an event-specific sequence that's more time sensitive, you have no way to prioritize the sending of emails from one sequence to another. We have had emails not go out from our time-sensitive sequences due to hitting our limit from a previous sequence.
We use Domo to visualize our data. Regardless of your BI tool, it seems that the Outreach servers take quite a bit of time to communicate with and extract data from. We have a dataset that pulls about 250,000 rows of data from Outreach and it will usually take about 6+ hours to pull the data. I also haven't had much luck pulling that much data out of Outreach itself. I used to be able to export out our entire list of prospects, but as our prospect list has grown, it now times out before I can export the whole list.
The Boolean search that Outreach offers is really robust and allows you to search pretty specifically for certain types of prospects. That said, it's also really buggy. Sometimes it doesn't pull up all the records that match your search, or it has additional records that shouldn't be in the search.
While I love the functionality of the Salesforce plugin, I'd really love to see the ability to connect with Salesforce Campaigns as well or a custom Salesforce object.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Outreach has helped us manage a huge volume of emails, while also allowing us to measure their effectiveness. We have been able to track how well our messaging works and then continually tweak it with A/B testing to up engagement with our cold prospects. It's also been a great help at keeping our Salesforce records more up to date with activities.
Extremely Valuable Product
What do you like best about the product?
Very efficient tool for running personalized sales engagement at scale. Gives reps one central place to manage their pipeline and run their day-to-day activities. You can get very granular with settings and CRM sync. Provides some really great data when configured correctly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some newer features like Team Meetings are lacking some functionality that would be very helpful, but they are constantly building/improving on these
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pipeline management, managing tasks, personalizing email Outreach at scale, quality data in CRM, made our process for booking round robin meetings much more efficient
Probably the best out-of-the-box sales engagement app out there
What do you like best about the product?
There are multiple features that put Outreach above the competition.
1) Interface - clean lines, runs smooth. I feel like this app actually had a UX team thinking about sales users in mind - instead of simply having the smartest (aka, most development experience) guy in the house run with it. I'm more on the admin/development side, but I could see that he sales people had a blast using the app compared to other enablement suites we've had them use.
2) A OOTB feature for most use cases - our sales process is intentionally simple with a few trigger-based caveats. But while looking through the configs and thinking back on sales ops at other companies I've seen, I can see how Outreach could handle them all.
3) The best "Sequence" handling of all - I've worked with a lot of Sales and Marketing tools. The way that sequences are handled (and the out-of-the-box config you can do to them) in Outreach is easily my favorite. Poke around at the Sequence Ruleset config in your trial if you can. You'll see why it's so great.

What do you dislike about the product?
1) The triggers (and being able to re-oder conditions on triggers) is a little painful. But with a little brainpower, this isn't too big an issue.
2) If you're connected to SFDC, this is supplemented by formulas, workflows and triggers.
3) The Outreach gmail plugin automatically adds email addresses it sees to the Contacts database unless you disable it. But disabling it removes tracking/opens/clicks/etc for that email. You can try to limit those additions via email domain restrictions, but there will always be vendors/contractors/etc that you work with that somehow find their way into the app's Contacts. Outreach did say this was an often-requested feature, so expect this to be patched soon.
4) In email templates, there is no default value when no value exists for a field. Outreach will not allow config of a default value (whether per field or per template) when it's blank. Sometimes, we don't have all Job Title fields populated, so we'd prefer to set a default value in template when none is available.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sales loves the app, they're working more productively because they're having fun with it, and the reporting is ludicrously simple. Integrates with Connect And Sell as well - making call tasks blindingly quick.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Whiteboard your ideal sales process out for a single persona, then trial Outreach. Play with it, and you'll see why it's so great.
Good experience
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to use and how majority of individuals who use it can figure it out. Keeps me organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
You have to restart it sometimes. Sometimes you can't hear very well. Some glitches

Outreach/Sourcing
Valuable tool for Customer Success
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to develop efficient talk tracks and meaningful engagements with my customer en massé, while tracking what is and isn't working.
What do you dislike about the product?
Expected more engagement from the CS team to help enable the CS use case
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Customer Success: Wholescale engagement of customers in an efficient manner
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure you have a solid go-live plan with your Customer Success Manager at Outreach
Robust engaging platform with good potential to do more
What do you like best about the product?
Good integration with Salesforce and relatively easy to setup and use. Adoption amongst the team was good as a result of this. Sequences are easy to build and helps up maintain a good contact cadence. Plenty of space capture standard and custom data both at a prospect level as well as for accounts. Easy to set up meetings with prospects without going back and forth finding suitable dates/time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not the most intuitive way to filter and sort certain type of data in order to have a better overview of engagement for teams selling into accounts rather than individuals. Unable to sync correctly future tasks into SFDC. The reports and analytics piece is still somewhat basic. Lack of EMEA time zone support means delays in getting responses for urgent matters.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All-in-one platform for all prospecting efforts with good integration to our CRM. Having visibility over territory coverage, the intensity of touches and results obtained helps better coach our team and drive the right results for the business.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure before starting that you map correctly what you are planning to sync, which custom fields you need to create (and in which order) and check the correct sync flow between Outreach and the CRM to avoid data not being accurate on either.
Good Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Good email campaign automation tools that I have used. It was easy to setup and get started. I had no problem with syncing my mail server and Salesforce. If another user had a problem, they were able to reach out to an Admin for solution, the mini how-to videos on the site were key as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
There aren't too many things that i dislike about the platform. They are constantly adding new features and it sometimes gets overwhelming with new things. Lack of ETL toll to bring bulk data is a big minus in my mind
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Renewals, batter customer engagements, calls & email tracking
Recommendations to others considering the product:
An excellent tool with some minor imperfections. Try before you buy and make sure it fits into your teams existing workflow.
