Streamlined Localization, Some Setup Challenges
What do you like best about the product?
I like Smartling's visual context editor because it eliminates guesswork for translators. The workflow automation stands out in how it significantly reduces manual coordination and speeds up the localization process for us. I also appreciate that while there was a learning curve initially, once the setup is done, the platform is easier to manage.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial setup and workflow configuration can be complex and time-consuming. There's a learning curve, but once setup is done, the platform becomes easier to manage. I would appreciate more guided onboarding or setup wizards for common use cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartling to localize web content, reducing turnaround time. The visual context editor eliminates guesswork for translators. Workflow automation minimizes manual coordination and speeds up the localization process.
Efficient Translation with Trustworthy Results
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to submit a request in Smartling and immediately get a cost estimate and an approximate time it will take, with the option for a rush order if needed. It's great to feel confident using Smartling for our complex pages. I appreciate that you can have different buckets for projects, which works well since marketing and I have separate tasks. I also like getting emails when a source string is opened, allowing me to quickly see and respond to issues. It's reassuring to know that a person is reviewing my articles and sending feedback.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do think the interface could be a little more user-friendly. There are different buckets, and once you get in, every once in a while, I'll get lost and have to go back to the main page, where I'm familiar with the path to get to my items. I also wish that the source string that it were a little easier to view when you go to the content page. It's usually a muted color, and I wish that wasn't the case.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling makes it easy to submit translation requests and get quick cost estimates and timelines. It offers rush options and handles complex pages, which gives me confidence over using alternatives like ChatGPT.
Great pricing and easy for content teams, but lacks mobile/web SDKs
What do you like best about the product?
Good pricing, and easy to use for our content team
What do you dislike about the product?
No SDKs for mobile or web apps, only APIs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it as our Translation Management System to update all translations by the content team
Intuitive and Efficient Terminology Management
What do you like best about the product?
I use Smartling for managing and translating marketing and product content, and I find its layout and intuitiveness really beneficial. It facilitates my daily routine, especially with the terminology management feature where linguists can propose new terms to be added to our glossary, and I can easily approve or reject them. I also appreciate how it helps me send new terms for translation into many languages. The platform is intuitive, which means when new linguists join the team, there's no need for extensive training sessions. Compared to other CAT tools, Smartling stands out for me. The initial setup when creating new projects and glossaries was pretty easy and intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartling could improve the way you select terms to be translated. When you need to select multiple terms for translation, when you search for a term using the search bar and select it, you cannot search for another term without deselecting the previously selected term.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartling to streamline terminology management, allowing linguists to propose terms easily, which I can approve or reject. It also simplifies translating new terms into multiple languages, and its intuitive layout reduces training time for new team members.
Translation Capabilities with Room for Smoother Workflow
What do you like best about the product?
I use Smartling mostly for its translation features and being able to update those. It allows me to translate without always having to reach out to development.
What do you dislike about the product?
Yeah. It would be nice just to have it be a little bit more fluid from selecting translations to applying them, whether it's in GitHub or anything else, I think that is a flow that doesn't seem to be as straightforward as it could be. It's fine. Sometimes it can be a little bit more complicated than I want to be. And I have to go and Google stuff.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling allows me to translate without always needing to reach out to development.
Feature-Packed, Easy-to-Use Platform with Seamless Sitecore Translation Integration
What do you like best about the product?
Smartling is a feature-packed platform that is very clean, versatile, and easy to use. We're able to push and pull translations easily between Sitecore (our CMS) and Smartling, making it very easy to translate our content-heavy site quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly can't think of anything I dislike about Smartling. Their sales process is very transparent and forthcoming with information (especially compared to other competitors in their space), their support team is very responsive, and the platform itself integrates easily with our CMS and even allows us to translate content that doesn't exist on a webpage. They are so easy to work with that we've transitioned all of our translation work to them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to translate a 2,200+ page website into Spanish and do it as quickly as possible in order to serve a previously untapped market. Smartling helped us connect to their translation engine and automate the entire process. As a result, we went from a Spanish website with only 38 pages to a site that has 1:1 English/Spanish content with over 2,200 pages, and we did it three months. Our web conversions among Spanish speakers continues to grow at a rapid, sustainable pace.
Phenomenal GDN for Website Languages, but AI Translation Costs Add Up
What do you like best about the product?
Their GDN product for website languages is phenomenal! From a technical perspective, it's a great asset.
What do you dislike about the product?
Costs/paywalls to the best translation quality. You can get regular machine translation for a good price, but anything with AI costs an arm and a leg.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing our website in a one-to-one fashion to our Quebec markets - a provincial requirement at this point
Accurate Translations with Effortless API Integration
What do you like best about the product?
I like Smartling for its APIs. They can be easily used for multiple purposes like uploading and downloading translations. It also allows our team and company to translate strings to various languages with very high accuracy. The initial setup was pretty straightforward.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the insights in the UI regarding jobs and their actions could be better. Extra logging would also be appreciated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling allows my team to translate strings accurately into various languages, and its APIs are easy to use for tasks like uploading and downloading translations.
Outstanding Team That’s Responsive and Helpful
What do you like best about the product?
Support from onboarding team, AMs, PMs, and engineering has been great. Responsive to feedback, and available as a resource when needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
For the GDN solution, string parsing is a common issue. However, this is solved going with a different route, such as an app connector straight to your CMS, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scalable solution for large websites across multiple geos. Smartling allows us to track changes in a manageable way outside of our CMS.
