Phenomenal GDN for Website Languages, but AI Translation Costs Add Up
What do you like best about the product?
Their GDN product for website languages is phenomenal! From a technical perspective, it's a great asset.
What do you dislike about the product?
Costs/paywalls to the best translation quality. You can get regular machine translation for a good price, but anything with AI costs an arm and a leg.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing our website in a one-to-one fashion to our Quebec markets - a provincial requirement at this point
Accurate Translations with Effortless API Integration
What do you like best about the product?
I like Smartling for its APIs. They can be easily used for multiple purposes like uploading and downloading translations. It also allows our team and company to translate strings to various languages with very high accuracy. The initial setup was pretty straightforward.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the insights in the UI regarding jobs and their actions could be better. Extra logging would also be appreciated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling allows my team to translate strings accurately into various languages, and its APIs are easy to use for tasks like uploading and downloading translations.
Outstanding Team That’s Responsive and Helpful
What do you like best about the product?
Support from onboarding team, AMs, PMs, and engineering has been great. Responsive to feedback, and available as a resource when needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
For the GDN solution, string parsing is a common issue. However, this is solved going with a different route, such as an app connector straight to your CMS, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scalable solution for large websites across multiple geos. Smartling allows us to track changes in a manageable way outside of our CMS.
Fast, Accurate Translations with a Touch of Complexity
What do you like best about the product?
I like Smartling for its powerful and flexible translations. It provides fast, accurate translations across many languages, which is crucial for our work with multiple global brands. The integration with SFCC is also valuable.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it technical to use, especially the UI settings for the various translation settings. It could be better with better SFCC Page Designer integrations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartling to speed up time to market for EU markets with fast, accurate translations across many languages.
Good GitHub integrations, but overall experience needs improvement
What do you like best about the product?
It has a good integrations with github and the smart-match feature, easy to implement and good documentation
What do you dislike about the product?
Interface isn't good also the lack of mobile SDKs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Translating english to all the languages needed within a short time.
Powerful APIs and automation, but dated UI and added costs for advanced use cases
What do you like best about the product?
Smartling offers an unusually rich set of capabilities for a web‑based TMS. Its APIs, connectors, and job automations are straightforward to work with and make it easy to integrate localization into existing workflows. When you opt into their customer success offering, the support and responsiveness from their team are also very strong.
What do you dislike about the product?
To unlock more advanced or non‑standard use cases, you typically need to engage (and pay for) a solutions architect, which adds to the overall cost of ownership. Same goes for most connectors. The platform’s performance can feel sluggish at times, and several parts of the TMS UI and overall experience feel dated compared with newer alternatives on the market.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling helps us streamline and centralize our localization workflow. By connecting our content sources via APIs and connectors, it reduces manual handoffs, speeds up translation delivery, and makes it easier to manage multilingual content at scale. This gives our teams more consistency across locales and frees people up from repetitive operational work so they can focus on higher‑value tasks.
Automate Translations, But With Errors to Correct
What do you like best about the product?
I like the automated way Smartling does translations, as it eliminates the need for manual work. We integrated Smartling into our workflow, so that when we create or change strings, they are sent directly to Smartling. Thus, we only need to read the translations and add them to our codebase, with the only human intervention being the verification if they are correct.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are many translation errors that we have to correct manually. This has become a significant problem for our team. In fact, we are considering changing the solution. Additionally, there are clear errors when dealing with HTML tags. For example, in a text, the word 'web' (from World Wide Web) was translated into Spanish as 'telaraña' (spider web). The same happened with many other words, such as SPA (single-page application) being translated as 'estação termal' (thermal station).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartling to localize the product and translate the strings automatically, which eliminates manual work.
Smartling: customizable and scalable, but with room for improvement in reporting
What do you like best about the product?
What I like about Smartling is the ability to make everything very customizable, which is not something that often happens with tools in general, so the ability to truly tailor the tool to the company's needs is very interesting. It is a very positive experience because it helps us define workflows that are much simpler and at the same time scalable, thus potentially complex, while keeping track of the status of each individual step, the quantities, and the volumes. Moreover, the tool is very easy to use, and now we have become super experts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is a bit complicated to obtain data, even if it seems they have understood the need to improve this aspect and are working on it, there might be some refinements at the reporting level.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling helps me manage simpler and more scalable translation workflows, keeping track of the status of each step, volumes, and costs.
Efficient Integration and Translation Workflow with Smartling
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate the integrations available with Smartling, as I can connect it with our PIM, CMS, CRM, and even manage translations for files all within the same project. The robust, highly customizable workflows make the translation process smooth by allowing us to tailor and branch them based on various factors, ensuring strings are assigned to the appropriate users. The Translation Memory is also incredibly useful in reducing repetitive tasks, saving time for translators and cutting costs. It's great that Smartling helps bring all translation teams onto the same platform, which improves management.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would say they can make the extensions of the integrations more robust. Even though there are a variety of integrations available, the individual integration still sometimes lacks ease of use. They can also improve multi-role user management. We have to always reach out to the Smartling CSM to convert user to multi-role user. Ideally, it should be an easy step, but it is not. Also, instead of users having to switch roles, the UI can be updated in such a way that the user gets a combined view of the roles assigned to them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartling for translation automation, which smooths the workflow with a role-based approach. The integrations with PIM, CMS, and CRM are valuable, and Translation Memory reduces repetitive tasks and costs by bypassing already translated strings, saving time and money.
Smooth Integration and Great Job Visibility with Human-Powered Translations
What do you like best about the product?
The implementation and upgrades were smooth, and visibility into each job is excellent. I also appreciate that real people are working behind the scenes on the translations. That human involvement helps reduce mistakes, especially with very high-end content.
Customer Support is good and reliable, and the integrations are easy to use.
Customer Support is good and reliable, and the integrations are easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn’t really much to dislike, apart from the fact that the product sometimes needs expert intervention. I also think the dashboard interface could be simplified to make it easier for users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work for a global company with a site in more than 10 languages. Smartling has made the content translation workflow much easier by providing reliable, human translation, which reduces the team’s effort and time spent auditing and proofreading translated content.
