A Powerful Asset Management System with a Learning Curve

  • November 26, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
IBM Maximo Application Suite is very strong when it comes to asset tracking, preventive maintenance, and work order management. The interface is detailed and gives you complete visibility into equipment, maintenance tasks, and performance metrics. I also like that it integrates well with IoT sensors and automation tools, which helps in predicting failures before they happen. The reporting features and dashboards are also quite helpful for understanding asset health.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maximo is powerful, but the learning curve is definitely high. New users may find the interface overwhelming at first because there are so many modules and configuration options. Customization is possible, but sometimes requires technical knowledge or support from an experienced Maximo admin. Performance can also feel slow if your organization has a large database or many workflows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team uses Maximo to centralize all maintenance activities, asset histories, and service requests. This helps reduce downtime, improves preventive maintenance scheduling, and ensures we are following compliance requirements. The system has also helped us track spare parts inventory more accurately, which reduces costs and avoids delays in repairs.

Centralized Asset Management with a Modern UI

  • November 23, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how IBM Maximo Application Suite brings all assets, maintenance, and monitoring tools into one platform with a modern interface. This integration makes it much easier to track work, understand asset health, and leverage data for improved decision-making. I particularly appreciate its user interface, as the modern design facilitates navigation and helps me find weaker areas efficiently. The suite's ability to consolidate various functionalities into a singular, cohesive solution greatly enhances its convenience and usability, making it a standout tool in my workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are several challenges with IBM Maximo Application Suite that I find take away from its overall utility. Firstly, the setup can be quite complex, indicating a steep learning curve. It's not a simple plug-and-play system, which could be quite daunting for new users. The Openshift environment and the app points licensing model, while flexible, seem to come with a high cost, making budgeting for the software challenging. Additionally, the suite-level architecture can be cumbersome. I also notice that while some modules, like the management features, are robust and reliable, others, particularly those using AIML for predictive analytics, require very accurate data to function effectively and feel less automated than I expected. This inconsistency can lead to inefficiencies in work processes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM Maximo Application Suite to enhance asset visibility and early decision-making. It reduces downtime, aids maintenance, improves safety, and predicts asset health, effectively managing work orders and inventory while integrating monitoring tools into a single platform.

Highly Flexible, Scalable, but Costly Asset Management

  • November 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the flexibility and scalability of the IBM Maximo Application Suite. Its containerized architecture is a standout feature, as it allows the software to scale seamlessly across an entire organization, from a single plant to hundreds of sites worldwide. This flexibility enables me to utilize the core Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and safety modules as needed, maximizing efficiency and resource management throughout the organization. The system's ability to adapt and expand according to the organization's requirements is invaluable, ensuring that we are always equipped to handle evolving operational demands.
What do you dislike about the product?
The most significant issue with IBM Maximo Application Suite is its cost, which presents a challenge. Additionally, the initial setup configuration and administration are highly complex, necessitating a dedicated skilled operator. While the process might be considered easy for those with basic knowledge, accessibility would be significantly improved with a setup and configuration wizard or guide.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM Maximo Application Suite to manage assets, reducing unplanned downtime, safety incidents, and compliance failures. Its containerized architecture allows scalable, flexible deployment across organizations, from a single plant to worldwide sites.

Comprehensive Asset Management, but Setup Requires Expertise

  • November 15, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate how IBM Maximo Application Suite centralizes all asset, maintenance, and operational data into a single unified platform. This centralization allows us to easily track asset health, plan preventive maintenance, and manage work orders without the need to switch between multiple tools. I find the automation features a huge advantage, as workflows, scheduling, notifications, and approvals operate smoothly with minimal manual intervention, significantly boosting productivity and consistency in maintenance tasks. The reporting and analytics capabilities of Maximo are highly valuable, enabling us to generate detailed insights on asset performance, downtime, maintenance costs, and resource utilization, which aid in making more informed operational decisions. Additionally, I am impressed by the integration flexibility that Maximo offers, as it connects easily with ERP systems, IoT devices, and mobile applications, making it scalable and adaptable to complex environments.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few areas where IBM Maximo Application Suite could be improved. The initial setup and configuration can be quite complex, especially for teams without dedicated Maximo specialists. The interface, while functional, still feels a bit outdated in some modules and isn’t always intuitive for new users. Performance can slow down when running heavy reports or when multiple integrations are active. Customizing workflows, dashboards, and automation rules also often requires technical expertise rather than simple drag-and-drop tools. The mobile app is helpful but could be smoother — sometimes sync delays or minor crashes affect field technicians. Finally, the documentation is extensive but very technical, making it harder for beginners to understand without additional training.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM Maximo Application Suite to centralize asset management, automate workflows, and improve inventory management, reducing unplanned downtime and manual processes. It enhances visibility and data-driven decision-making, streamlining operations across maintenance and compliance activities.

Powerful Asset Management, But Configuration Complex

  • November 14, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate IBM Maximo Application Suite as a unified, integrated platform that offers robust maintenance and work management capabilities. The platform enhances my control over the entire work order lifecycle. I find the enterprise-grade capabilities for asset management and operations optimization particularly beneficial, as they support the comprehensive management of physical assets, from equipment and facilities to fleets and infrastructure. The system significantly helps in reducing unplanned downtime by addressing fragmented asset data and providing centralized visibility, which are crucial for efficient operations.
What do you dislike about the product?
I encounter high levels of unplanned downtime, which disrupts operational efficiency. The software's limited mobile access is problematic for field technicians who require on-the-go functionality. Additionally, the complexity of configuration and administration can be daunting. Setting up workflows, security, data structures, and integrations often demands specialized knowledge, posing challenges for smaller teams or organizations without dedicated Maximo administrators. This complexity can slow down adoption and increase dependency on external consultants. Although cloud deployments simplify the process, the initial setup still ranges from moderate to complex.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM Maximo Application Suite to consolidate fragmented asset data and gain centralized visibility, reducing unplanned downtime and enhancing control over the work order lifecycle.
