Robust and user-friendly 3D modeling software

  • June 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
No matter what you need to do, NX can handle it. You don't need to know any sort of modeling "trickery" to turn your ideas into reality. And it's far easier to become proficient than with any other modeling software I've used.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a common saying at our company that there are 5 ways to do anything in NX, and at least two of them are bad. There's a large learning curve between creating a workable model and creating a *good* one.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
NX is an excellent platform to make our monopart designs, and to arrange them with increasingly complex assemblies. The more we try to accomplish, the more important it is that every piece we make in NX, down to the smallest part, is modeled well.

I find NX to be the most powerful, but also the least user friendly of all the CAD software

What do you like best about the product?
Surfacing tools in NX are very powerful and allow for very fine control over A surfaces.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dealing with crashes and model errors with very little help from the software in terms of useful error codes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
NX is allowing our team to design advanced products. Integrating everything from electrical and mechanical all in one place.

Realize Live 2024

  • June 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It can handle extremely large assemblies easily. The interface is comparable to the other major CAD brands.
What do you dislike about the product?
Often times actions that would take 1 click in the competitor's software will take 2-3 clicks in NX CAD
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need to be able to view massive electrical and optomechanical systems and be able to see them all at once with minimal load time. We have a very specialized requirements and NX provides the customization capabilities we need.

NX is a great design tool for an advanced product designer

  • June 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
NX has powerful design tools that can greatly improve the modeling experience and cater to a designers natural workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve to pick up NX is steeper than other CAD packages. Product designers should ease into transitioning into this piece of software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designing my model in the 3D space and constructing 2D.

Powerful CAD but want to have a bit better!

  • June 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
many ways to modify dummy 3D CAD files parasolids, STEPs, etc. from the vendors or other CAD tools within my organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
some old features are disappeared. I'd like to have Parasolid export with a full ASM structure like SolidWorks parasolid export to preserve the the ASM structure. There's STEP file format to export but time to time I experience file transferring errors especially come complex geometries. i.e. missing surface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
mustly modifying the dummy solids files such as parasolid, STEP. much better capabilities than SolidWorks offers. Sometimes better than Creo we have with less steps to modify the geometries.
