Pen Testing review

  • April 16, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
Marco uses it for pen testing web sites. Marco develops web sites for clients that are either private or available to the public and/or consumer. Features we use works successfully. I like the use of use of the Dashboard to give you a quick snapshot of the results and where I need to focus. I believe the VPN profiles is new and I have yet to use it. I do need the ability to scan internal to our network to satisfy external auditor requirements. I will be testing this out very shortly.
What do you dislike about the product?
More tips, tricks and help with examples would be nice to assist users. Would like more features to be able to narrow searches down in the completed scans. Also would like the ability to be able to login and stay logged in for an extended period of time. The time-out is shorter than I would like. This is a very frustrating survey. it would be nice if it was more intuitive about what additional questions need to be answered. Many IT leaders are very busy and knowing all the questions up front would save valuable time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The tool helps in verifying developed sites are secure from vulnerabilities before they are put into production for the client or general public. Benefits are primarily verifying the sites are secure. This assists in proving to our clients that the site we developed is secure from vulnerabilities.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Decide what your requirements are before deciding on a solution.

What do you like best about the product?
ease of use, great reporting capabilities
What do you dislike about the product?
some solved minor issues on the API side
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've teamed up with Pentest-Tools nearly 3 years back and offered their great Web Vulnerability Assessment tools in our threatmap.ro platform, offering free, one-click quick scans for our user base. We absolutely loved the experience, so far :) and appreciate the great collaboration with their team and how easy it is to work with them in demanding projects such as Threatmap.
Having access to a well documented API was key for the successful integration of Threatmap and Pentest-Tools and the girls and guys over there delivered a great API, were prompt in answering to our feedback and supporting our needs for some over-the-top custom integration requirements.
We're pushing forward with new iterations of Threatmap, new use-cases and as we expand our user-base, Pentest-Tools remains one of the core tools we're using to push forward innovation, awareness and technology.

The go-to platform for automated penetration testing

  • March 26, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
Pentest-Tools allows you to chain multiple tools in the so-called templates and run all of them against your targets (Web / Network).
This way, you will have an overview of the security posture of your assets with just a few clicks. What’s really useful is that targets can be both internally or externally accessible.
These tools simplified the work during my pentesting activities: the Website scanner, Domains, and Subdomains discovery tools, URL Fuzzer and Exploit Helpers (e.g. XSS Exploiter, HTTP Request Logger (a useful tool for simulating Phishing Attacks), etc).
The Editable .docx Report generator saved a lot of manual work for me, because - as you probably know - every pentester's nightmare is to type manually findings. Pentest-Tools automates this process and even allows you to add screenshots directly within the Findings.
Also, I like reading the blog articles because it shows that the team is always up to date with the latest threats in the Information Security industry.
What do you dislike about the product?
Depending on the target web application, it might take up to a couple of hours to finish a fully-featured scan.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Pentest-Tools in my day-to-day job as a Security Consultant, and it is an extremely helpful tool for Penetration Testing activities.
To those interested in trying out the product, I recommend:
Go and test all the platform capabilities and features (Automatically generated reports in Docx format, Scheduled scans, Scan templates, use the tools through API, etc).
