Varonis: Powerful Data Security with Automated Discovery, Classification, and Fast Support
What do you like best about the product?
We’ve been using Varonis for a ove a year in our mid-size environment, and find its it’s one of the strongest tools we have for data security. What function s stands out most are how easily it is to automatically discovers and classifies sensitive data across our environment (we use it on prem and in the cloud) and flags risks before they become issues and it's use in investigative processes. It has significantly reduced the amount of manual investigation required and has materially lowered our overall exposure.
Ease of Use:
Pretty good once you get past the initial learning curve. The dashboards are clean, the visuals are intuitive, and you don’t need to be a power user to get meaningful insights. Also the onboading team will walk you through the process. 8/10
Ease of Implementation:
Implementation will takes a few weeks, especially when scanning large data sets, but the documentation and professional services support make it manageable. Starting small and expanding gradually worked well for us and avoided a painful “big bang” rollout. 7/10
Customer Support:
Excellent. Response times are quick, and the support team is knowledgeable and genuinely invested in helping you succeed. It feels more like working with a partner than a vendor. 10/10
Frequency of Use:
Daily. Between alerts, dashboards, and reporting, it’s fully embedded into our security and operations workflow.
Number of Features:
Very feature-rich without feeling bloated. Data classification, access remediation, threat detection, and automated cleanup all work together well. We’ve seen a noticeable reduction in our attack surface. 9/10
Ease of Integration:
Integrates cleanly with Active Directory, AWS, and our SIEM. The available connectors and APIs are straightforward, and we didn’t run into major integration challenges. 8/10

What do you dislike about the product?
The setup process is not something that happens at once. You'll configure the application, integrate it, and then it scans the data. Depending on the size of your data set, this scanning can take a few hours, days or a week or more. This wasn't an issue, and the process went clean, but you'll have others (Management, etc) hoping to see immediate results. You'll see more and more data appear on the dashboard each day, but you'll need to let them know that the scan will take some time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One place to monitor alerts and events on my on-prem and cloud based data. We have setup rules that we were not able to do within our SIEM for alerts, and Varonis also allows you to configure automated responses (such as endpoint disconnect, removal of shares, or disabling of user account). We needed a classification system, but I use it more for security and monitoring than I would have expected.
High Visibility and Exceptional Support
What do you like best about the product?
I greatly appreciate the ease of use of the Varonis Data Security Platform, as its environment is quite interactive and provides a clear visualization, which significantly facilitates the operation of the platform. Additionally, the ease of integration is excellent, as the tool offers a detailed step-by-step guide on how to integrate with various environments, which greatly simplifies the process. Customer support is also a strong point for me, being extremely interactive; conversations flow quickly and objectively, demonstrating the efficiency and readiness of the support team in resolving the issues presented.
What do you dislike about the product?
During the time of use, what made it most difficult was the removal of some features without prior notice. We had some automations and reports configured in the environment, and due to changes in the platform, they were removed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Varonis Data Security Platform solved the lack of visibility in Active Directory and File Server, allowing you to configure remediations for breaches in the environment.

What I like best about Varonis Data Security Platform is how it makes data protection proactive. It provides clear visibility into sensitive information, automates threat detection, and helps reduce risks by controlling access in a very effective way

Sometimes it can feel complex at the beginning, since the platform has so many features and requires some time to fully learn.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Varonis helps protect sensitive data by detecting unusual activity, preventing unauthorized access, and reducing insider threats. This gives me peace of mind and makes data management much more efficient.

How great software it is to identify the vulnerabilities and which information is important.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a bit hard to implement it in a small environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Well, before implementing Varonis, I was in charge of sorting the information the company recieved, but then Varonis was doing it by himself.

What I like best about Varonis is the visibility and control it gives me over sensitive data. It allows me to quickly identify risks, monitor unusual activity, and enforce the right permissions.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I like least about Varonis is that, although the platform is very powerful, it can be complex to set up at first. The learning curve is a bit steep and it requires time and training to take full advantage of all its features. In addition, updates or integrations sometimes demand additional technical resources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Varonis is helping us address the challenge of uncontrolled data access and insider threats. Before, it was difficult to know who had access to sensitive files or when abnormal activity was happening.

Excelent Software for data protection
What do you like best about the product?
Varonis gives excellent visibility into sensitive data, with strong classification and detailed audit trails. I like that it monitors both on-premises and cloud environments in one place and offers automated alerts and remediation to quickly reduce risk.
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform is expensive and can be complex to deploy. It also requires a lot of resources, and the interface and reporting could be more intuitive, especially for large or cloud-heavy environments.

Varonis solves the challenge of finding and protecting sensitive data by showing where it lives, who can access it, and how it’s used. It helps reduce excessive permissions, detects suspicious activity, and simplifies compliance. The main benefit is stronger data security with less manual effort.

What do you like best about the product?
The most robust features are its highly detailed data discovery/classification and the visibility it provides into the exposed or wrongly permissioned data—teams get actionable insight into sensitive files, sharing patterns, and insider risk that would otherwise be unknown. Its analytics, automated alerting, and dashboards assist in prioritizing remediation and complying with regulations, thus security improvements become traceable. Users point out that its threat detection logic is of high quality and the feature that the on-prem and cloud data context can be unified is definitely a differentiation factor.
What do you dislike about the product?
it is frequently mentioned in negative reviews that the cost of the product is matching major points (sometimes is described as being too high for smaller/mid-market buyers), as well as that the initial complexity of deployment, tuning alerts, and data navigation can make teams overwhelmed with the amount of data before they have fully optimized it. Users also reveal that they suffer from some performance issues (especially with large on-prem datasets), alert noise during tuning, limitations in reporting/customization, and slow ticket response or support turnaround in some cases.

It also allows for the detection of excessive permissions, suspicious user activity, and the reduction of the risk of insider threats or data breaches. It enables security and compliance teams to save a great deal of time when they carry out audit readiness by automating discovery, classification, and remediation workflows. The proactive visibility and alerting that are provided give a safety net, which in turn means that the need for expensive incidents is reduced and compliance with frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS is guaranteed.

Varonis gives you clear data to both report on but also take action on.

It can be a little overwhelming when you first start ingesting data and configuring alerts. but they have a great on-boarding team and will continue to work with you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have data all over. Both on-prem and in the cloud. With varonis we're able to see and alert on data from anywhere within our environment.

The Varonis Data Security platform does not disappoint. It provides unmatched data classification and security that is accurate without the need for constant configuration changes to improve the classification.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can honestly state I don't have any dislikes about this product. It has met all our expectations and beyond. You get what you pay for and while this product comes at a cost it also provides quality performance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The DSP platform is assisting us with our data governance and provides continuous visibility into the locations of our sensitive data. Not only did we gain visibility where the data resides, but who has access to the data. With the visibility it allows us the ability to continually identify where permissions may need to be tightened. This platform has provided us the ability to continually reduce risk in our environment and maintain secure access to our data.
