What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most is the complete visibility it gives into sensitive data across the organization. It’s very helpful to quickly identify improper access and get proactive alerts about suspicious behavior.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even though it’s great, the initial setup can be a bit complex and requires time to fully understand all the features.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Varonis Data Security Platform is its ability to provide deep visibility into sensitive data, user activity, and permissions. The platform makes it easy to identify where critical files live, who has access to them, and whether that access is appropriate. Its dashboards and automated reports are very intuitive, helping security teams quickly detect risks and suspicious behavior.
What do you dislike about the product?
While powerful, the initial deployment and configuration can feel complex and require a learning curve. Licensing costs can also be high for smaller organizations. Additionally, depending on the size of the environment, some scans and reporting processes may take longer than expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Varonis is helping us solve the challenge of locating and securing sensitive data across large file systems and cloud repositories. It identifies excessive permissions, detects abnormal user behavior, and alerts us to potential insider threats or data breaches. By automating data classification and access reviews, it reduces the manual workload on the security team and ensures compliance with regulations. The main benefit is greater confidence that critical information is protected, along with faster response times when suspicious activity occurs.

Varonis gives excellent visibility into sensitive data, with strong classification and detailed audit trails. I like that it monitors both on-premises and cloud environments in one place and offers automated alerts and remediation to quickly reduce risk.
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform is expensive and can be complex to deploy. It also requires a lot of resources, and the interface and reporting could be more intuitive, especially for large or cloud-heavy environments.

What do you like best about the product?
The most robust features are its highly detailed data discovery/classification and the visibility it provides into the exposed or wrongly permissioned data—teams get actionable insight into sensitive files, sharing patterns, and insider risk that would otherwise be unknown. Its analytics, automated alerting, and dashboards assist in prioritizing remediation and complying with regulations, thus security improvements become traceable. Users point out that its threat detection logic is of high quality and the feature that the on-prem and cloud data context can be unified is definitely a differentiation factor.
What do you dislike about the product?
it is frequently mentioned in negative reviews that the cost of the product is matching major points (sometimes is described as being too high for smaller/mid-market buyers), as well as that the initial complexity of deployment, tuning alerts, and data navigation can make teams overwhelmed with the amount of data before they have fully optimized it. It enables security and compliance teams to save a great deal of time when they carry out audit readiness by automating discovery, classification, and remediation workflows. The proactive visibility and alerting that are provided give a safety net, which in turn means that the need for expensive incidents is reduced and compliance with frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS is guaranteed.

It can be a little overwhelming when you first start ingesting data and configuring alerts. but they have a great on-boarding team and will continue to work with you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have data all over. Both on-prem and in the cloud. With varonis we're able to see and alert on data from anywhere within our environment.

What do you like best about the product?
The Varonis Data Security platform does not disappoint. It provides unmatched data classification and security that is accurate without the need for constant configuration changes to improve the classification.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can honestly state I don't have any dislikes about this product. It has met all our expectations and beyond. You get what you pay for and while this product comes at a cost it also provides quality performance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The DSP platform is assisting us with our data governance and provides continuous visibility into the locations of our sensitive data. Not only did we gain visibility where the data resides, but who has access to the data. With the visibility it allows us the ability to continually identify where permissions may need to be tightened. This platform has provided us the ability to continually reduce risk in our environment and maintain secure access to our data.

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, accuracy of reports, completeness of dashboard. The implementation process was absolutely awesome!!
What do you dislike about the product?
It is so comprehensive that it's easy to get lost in the weeds and sometimes difficult to find exactly what you need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Closing security holes left by people sharing too much information outside the company. Monitoring user activity on our sensitive data.

What do you like best about the product?
The Varonis data security platform is very effective at identifying unusual activity across multiple sources and provides the necessary details to either take action ourselves or allow it to take action for us through automation. The ability to research who made changes to files or Active Directory is much better and quicker than we could do on our own. Their MDDR monitoring and incident response team gives us the confidence that our environment is being monitored 24x7.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really comes to mind. They are not inexpensive, but you definitely get what you pay for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping us with Active Directory management by identifying unusual activity, stale user and compute accounts, and other issues related to passwords and groups. It helps with data management by identifying stale data, both on premise and in the cloud, as well as over-exposed sensitive data.
Varonis: Visibility for data security
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to report on where data is living, the status, the access (and what AI is trying to touch) - the ease of navigating the UI and the ability to test changes to see what would be impacted and how. It also provides the ability to schedule reports for various things and it has automated responses to help secure the environment and data without manually responding to things (also provides ease of use for setting up items in Purview since they are all about data security and constantly updating their side as laws get updated)
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not the easiest to set up - there are a lot of moving parts that need to be done correctly for the service account to walk correctly - but their customer support is absolutely fantastic as are their engineers - which makes the stress of dealing with that much easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
reporting on where data is, stale data, duplicate data, overexposure, auditing on when people do things and it this alone has helped us align with audits, removing unneeded or unused access and helped us clean up shared drives
