StarWind Virtual SAN best for backup and restoration
What do you like best about the product?
The solution's management GUI is easy and works best with a hypervisor environment. Our organization uses a hypervisor environment to support the same, making it easier to implement and get fruitful results.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reporting of the solution needs improvement. They should have some predefined executive reports from which we have insights into the health of the backup that can be shared with senior management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To implement a business continuity plan and to perform quarterly disaster recovery in our organization, we require a solution in which we have a backup readily available, so StarWind Virtual SAN help us do that. Initially, we faced some challenges because of the infrastructure, but the support team figured it out well.

Powerful and easy to use Virtual SAN device!
What do you like best about the product?
Being a Windows-based virtual SAN device, the StarWind products fit in our network easily and provide a solid backbone for our data.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have found no downsides to using the StarWind Virtual SAN products.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consolidation of compute and storage with easy scalability.
StarWind's Very Simple, Veritably Sound Virtual SAN
What do you like best about the product?
The StarWind vSAN is a wonderfully cost-effective solution for vSAN deployment. Whether it is being vetted as an additional solution to your existing stack of tech offerings by your R&D department or is simply meant to allow them to dip their toes into virtual SANs for the first time, this vSAN is a very low-risk venture.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main issue my MSP encountered while deploying this solution to a client was the slow full sync issue present in version 8, build 14947. Thankfully, this was resolved in the next version release.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The MSP that I work for brought on a client who realized they needed help with IT after the acquisition of another company. In the space of a few weeks, that client nearly doubled in size, and the aged tech in use at each location previously wasn't going to cut it. While we originally quoted a traditional SAN deployment for the client, they were concerned about having a single storage unit with two very distant servers. They weren't interested in buying two SANs so that each location could host one. StarWind vSAN allowed us to keep their data synced between two sites without the extra hardware expenditure. This also meant we had rolled out an off-site disaster recovery location since it's unlikely both units would be affected by a disaster simultaneously.
StarWind Virtual SAN Cost Effective Solution
What do you like best about the product?
StarWind Virtual SAN is cost-effective, and you don't need any extra physical server for installation. It is easy to deploy and use. Backup and restoration of that backup is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting and analytics need to have much more. Graphs should be there to have a broader picture of the health of all storage. Overall the GUI is good and easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a storage issue in our organization. We are a medium-sized organization. We didn't need to spend much on solutions, so we headed towards a cloud base because it was cost-effective.
Perfect vSAN with great technical support
What do you like best about the product?
StarWind created a perfect vSAN solution on a very stable platform. The technical support and after sales support is great. The product is easy to use and to maintain.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only point of attention at the moment is there are multiple manuals available which on some topics seem contradictory.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
By installing this Starwind vSAN solution on multiple nodes, we have created a very stable, fast and redundant platform. Since installation, the has been no malfunction in the system.
Affordable but rock solid product
What do you like best about the product?
StarWind vSAN allows me to build HA Hyper-V cluster on just two nodes, saving as much as 30% on hardware(with other solutions you need at least 3 nodes for truly fault-tolerant cluster). It also offers 30-day free evaluation period which you can extend longer to trial the product before signing the contract. Support is first very professional.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of its documentation was a bit confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
StarWind vSAN creates high-available, performant shared storage for our 2-node Hyper-V cluster, allowing all virtual machines to automatically failover to the other working node in case one node in the cluster suffers a failure. The failover is almost instant and non perceivable to end users.
Starwind is great solution for our needs
What do you like best about the product?
It is great system fully supported by StarWind & Easy to Setup. Support is very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing, as it is good and easy to manage
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were looking for Hyper converged infrastructure and Starwind best suited due to high availability required by business, so no downtime.
An SDS Solution Easy to set up and Efficient
What do you like best about the product?
An SDS solution under vSPhere that is easy to set up and efficient, thanks to the simplicity of its console and proactive support. Indeed Storage provisioning is very simple and synchronous mirroring is child's play. High availability coupled with VMware's HA cluster works perfectly. Even if you still have to follow some instructions at the hardware level, the Starwind solution remains detached from it, unlike solutions like vSphere VSAN or Microsoft's S2D. Indeed this solution works on practically any server. And a big advantage the option of HeartBeat to replace the Witness Node.
What do you dislike about the product?
a zest of sexier design for the console would be a plus :-)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A geocluster with only 2 sites because no need for witnesses thanks to Heartbeat
Works well with XEN
What do you like best about the product?
Once setup was complete, has been very stable
What do you dislike about the product?
Setup was a bit complicated and cumbersome
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Makes managing storage across multiple hosts easy.
Starwind Virtual SAN Amazing Product
What do you like best about the product?
StarWind Virtual SAN gives adaptation to non-critical failure by repeating information across various servers in the group. This guarantees that information is generally accessible, even in case of a server disappointment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Starwind virtual san management server interface is complex and also the customer support needs to improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The performance of the current storage platform was a problem for our company, and the cost of the solution was also significant. We came to learn more about the starwind virtual san solution to assist our company in addressing performance and cost-effectiveness issues. Our company uses Starwind virtual SAN to help with the slowness problem and to deliver the High availability functionality. Since the majority of our services run on virtual platforms, the integration of the virtual SAN with the virtualization platforms helped us to reduce the problem.
