Business-critical for a product that relies on data integrations

  • September 06, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Merge saves us tonnes of engineering resource by not having to build and maintain 30 different data integrations internally. The team is super responsive to building new functionality for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are occasional issues and limitations, though the Merge team is super responsive in sorting these out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our customers want to pull data from their financial systems (ERPs + HR systems). This requires us to have data integrations into those systems. The challenge is that there are 5 different major ERPs, and 10+ different major HR systems that we need to support. Merge lets us do that by integrating with them, saving us from needing a whole internal data integrations team building and maintaining these integrations.

What do you like best about the product?
From the founders to the engineers, the technical support is amazing and they'll really plug in to help your business end goals.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their CRM product is a little early but the velocity of progress they've made on that product has been incredible and I'm sure it'll only continue to get better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unified APIs for CRM integrations

Excellent integration support across apps, high reliability and fantastic documentation
What do you dislike about the product?
More integrations :) I wish Merge integrated with more APIs to avoid having to do any integration work in-house.

Time and cost to get a product or feature to market has gone down with Merge.

Streamlined "wow" solution for integrations!

  • August 18, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As an insights platform built on top of the CRM and broader sales stack, Merge has allowed us to scale more quickly in adding customers. (Our product requires connections across various SaaS tools to deliver value.) We’re a seed stage company, so our Eng resources are pretty tight - so being able to set this up with strapped team was an enormous value-add. This will continue to pay dividends because we can then focus on our proprietary product instead of worrying about the tablestakes build/maintenance of integrations. Our team loves that Merge has made this process streamlined, efficient, secure and fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a lot of documentation (which is great!). But some of it is light on details. This made it challenging to diagnose the source of 1-2 technical issues early on (one was with endpoints timing out during the onboarding process for our clients). That said, the team, to their credit, is always quick to respond and will jump in to resolve quickly. But I’m confident this will become more robust over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Merge is helping us ingest and normalize data - from a wide variety of customers - without having to create new logic or processes for each client we onboard. Without Merge we would not have a seamless onboarding process, and it would take clients days instead of hours, to begin using our product. This is a major “wow” factor for our end users, and Merge helps us deliver that “wow”!

Great partners for adding ticketing integrations

  • August 17, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Merge's team is extremely collaborative, and worked closely with us as we were launching our ticketing integrations. Their ticketing API has allowed us to quickly offer dozens of ticketing integrations to our customers, and offload the maintenance to their team. Merge has a great dashboard for our customer support team to manage the integrations without getting engineers involved.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing comes to mind right now! We've been working very closely with their team and appreciate the clear customer love.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need integrations in order to sync easily with our customers' other vendors. When we started Avenue we realized that a lot of prospects were using different ticketing systems. Using Merge has allowed us to focus on our actual product instead of building and maintaining integrations.

Great Team and an awesome product!

What do you like best about the product?
Merge allows us to integrate with tens of File Storage and CRM platforms with their Unified API. Their support is top notch and they're definitely the leaders in the multi-category Unified API space with their API first integrations (many of the other options we looked into utilized scraped integrations and were not as stable)
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd be interested in future categories once they are offered (namely Calendar, Email, Payments, EHR's etc.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need to integrate with File Storage and CRM platforms (namely SFDC for CRM), but have limited developer resources as a small startup team. Merge allows us to focus on building without the need to think about building yet another integration

Easy to onboard, saves a ton of developer time

What do you like best about the product?
Onboarding/Integrating:

We were an early user of Merge and even back then it took us only a couple of hours to get their product integrated into our (React/Next/Django) stack.

Integrating their various APIs into our stack for consuming data ingested into their service was also very straightforward with their swagger-generated clients.

Feedback / Shipping Velocity:

The Merge team has been incredibly responsive to feedback. It's been incredible to watch how quickly they've built out their admin dashboard. There is a ton of valuable tooling there including proactive alerting when integrations fail, with clear explanations of why that's the case (usually a permissions issue).

End-Customer Experience:

We've had dozens of users integrate their ATS / HRIS at this point and in the handful (actually <5) times that they have run into issues that were not resolved through Merge's extensive end-customer facing documentation the Merge support was very responsive (<2hr).

The happy path for integrating with an ATS / HRIS / other system is easily < 5 min, but there is a lot of effort that has gone into getting the process to that point through the UX of the integration modal.

Competition:

We've extensively evaluated (and even rolled out) a couple of competitive services and none of them stood up to Merge in terms of end-customer's integration experience or internal administration.
What do you dislike about the product?
No major downsides / dislikes. My biggest ask is to have more coverage in HRISs, and to expand to other domains (cap table managers), but some of these constraints are not fault of Merge (e.g. partners not exposing public-facing APIs)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not having to spend engineering time on the undifferentiated heavy lifting that is integrating individual APIs into our product. We've probably spent days-to-weeks of engineering time for every platform we've integrated with through Merge.

Fantastic Product and Fantastic Service

  • August 17, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What used to take us weeks is now done in hours. The support team is super helpful. We have taken our company to the next level.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wish this existed for other categories but know its in the pipeline.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As we talk to more companies and universities, they all use different systems and Merge helps to reduce the time it takes to onboard new customers.

HR and ATS integrations

  • August 14, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
They do have a lot of APIs and in general they have a decent setup process and their APIs aren't too expensive. I only use the HRIS and ATS APIs so I can't comment on the rest of the offerings so maybe people have had a more positive experience with Merge there.
What do you dislike about the product?
The big issue is poor documentation, lack of developer tooling and just general data quality issues.

Data Quality:
For example I'm trying to pull in an employee and their employment data. Now we can get the employment data from the employee when I call the merge endpoint for employees, however when calling the endpoint to get employments there is no explicit link back to the employee. There are work arounds to this issue, but there is no consistency here and we have to check against every possible edge case because everything is possibly null

Developer Experience and documentation:

Their typescript SDK is coming along nicely but they completely abandonded a shoddy JS library. But my main complaint is with the docs. There aren't enough examples and often things are explained. For example there's an expand parameter for some of the endpoints. Would be nice to know what we can expand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need integrations with HR platforms and their API does it make easy for us not to have to manually deal with each integration ourselves.
