The best password manager for our needs

  • November 13, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Keeper is "zero knowledge" - they can't leak our secrets because they don't know them. Anyone who wants our secrets has to steal them from us, or break Keeper's crypto.

I also like the fact that Keeper offers coverage for the devices we use and a "vanilla" web interface as well. We don't have to manage synchronisation - their cloud does that.

Keeper makes sensible use of any 2FA that's built in to a device, while offering the option to use generic non-platform-specific 2FA if you want to.

I like being able to go to Keeper and have it invent a new password for me. I like that I can tell it about any restrictions that site has (password min/max lenght, no special symbols, or whatever) and it will adjust its password generation to suit. It makes it really easy to stick to having a different password for every site.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the functionality isn't consistent from one platform UI to another. There are some actions which I can perform on my iPad, but not on my PC, which breaks my workflow.

The auto-login for websites seems a bit all-or nothing. We use Keeper to store access control info for bank accounts and other such things which use Turing Test-tyle login procedures. Keeper can't auto-fill those, which is fair enough, but there doesn't seem to be a way to tell it not to try for selected websites only.

I would like to be able to change the caption against the "login" field on a per-site basis. Different sites call the User Identifier different things. It makes sense to me to be able to use the same terminology that the site does.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping passwords and other secrets safe - not written down on paper, listed in spreadsheets or whatever else.

Sticking to having a different password for every site above a certain level of risk.

Enabing us (we're a very small company) to manage our passwords as professionally as, if not more so than, our very large and prestigious clients.

Supporting mobile working by allowing us to access our passwords wherever we take our devices.

Making it easy to grant and revoke access to passwords for different members of our team as our needs evolve.

Making it easy to see who has access to what, and make big changes quickly if we need to .

What do you like best about the product?
I love that its all in one cross-platform app and the ability to create folders and organize it much better than past password apps I tried.
What do you dislike about the product?
its difficult for it to pick up proper fields such as challenge questions and also on some sub-pages of bank websites lets say, it recognizes them as a new login and store that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I love that it can be on all my devices espically because I travel a ton and am very . rough on equipment its easy to log in on a new phone or laptop and get going as if it was the same old one.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
make it recognize more security questions etcc.

What do you like best about the product?
Sharing passwords with multiple users securely, and no longer having to use insecure spreadsheets to manage.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using on iPad is awkward as the app times out very quickly so switching between Keeper app and other apps often means logging into the Keeper app several times just to log into one service. My iPad is an old one without a fingerprint reader so this is clunky for me.

On iPad, entering the master password is annoying as, if I type it incorrectly and realise before I submit, I delete the characters to start again and it counts this as one of the three attempts before self-destruct which is dangerous.

Lack of ability to share passwords one time with a non keeper user. I think this is something that LastPass offers.

Mobile app on Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S9) keeps asking me to activate KeeperFill. I select "no" and tick "don't ask again" but it still keeps asking me. This app also often asks me for creating security questions which is annoying as I've already set these several times. Fingerprint reader is also buggy - it reads the fingerprint but doesn' progress past the fingerprint reader screen (clicking cancel logs on that screen gets me past it though so it is reading the fingerprint).

On web browser, I've disabled all the options for display locks, hover locks, etc. (all the ones in the settings in the Chrome browser extension) as I find them buggy and sometimes interfere with the layout or functionality of websites.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Made password management for multiple users much easier.

What do you like best about the product?
It solves all the mass of passwords we have been trying to keep in my mind, and in with so simple, user friendly way.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm really unsure about the possibility or feasibility of this but some applications require password still. Maybe an overwatching feature of Keeper on that time and asking us to put the password by itself would make life easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I securely store all my passwords and debit/credit card data.
