Wind River VxWorks - Light weight like a Wind

What do you like best about the product?
The lightweight Wind River VxWorks real-time operating system allows user to create industrial automation applications. It supports many devices and hence is deployed by many companies for their developments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Higher bug rate than can cause severe risk. Support requests made can take time as long as it can for the feedback. A cross development platform to be implemented in order to run the Wind River VxWorks, since it’s a self-hosting application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our IoT and ML engineers use Wind River VxWorks to solve their Embedded system problems and complex day-to-day problems. Optimal storage allocation and higher efficiency have helped us to enhance business productivity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It can solve almost all the requirements but lacks in bug fixing and post implementation support.

What do you like best about the product?
The overall IDE is perfect for application development, and it has multiple varieties of project development options which will help you to build projects as per your need.

The RTOS gives you a perfect hard real time embedded system which will support you to create industrial automation applications like motor control, process control etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing structure is a bit costly, and there are not many open-source materials available for learning. Also, the support team is not so helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are creating hard real-time embedded systems for industrial automation purposes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The RTOS is perfect, and you can have complete faith in it for your hard real time requirements. It provides far better performance than any other open-source RTOSs that are available.

It can be a steep learning curve as you get used to the program

What do you like best about the product?
The IDE is very mature and the features in the code editor are very good. There are multiple options to build your project and the support pages are very supportive.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product is costly and live debugging options for embedded targets are limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Application development for VxWorks RTOS based applications

If you are looking for VxWorks related development IDE this is the best software you can look for.

it is available on many devices and many companies use this OS for their developments
What do you dislike about the product?
Training services and support is not as good as I expected. We found many issues with the IDE (crashes and unknown errors)

Main OS of the embedded computer. The RTOS brings a lot of benefits to embedded systems in terms of safety and robustness

Take the training if your company is able to pay for it. The training services are not really good, but the material provided is.

What do you like best about the product?
Performance and safety is a very good in this OS. Its light and has a very efficiently designed memory allocation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Quiet pricey for individual buyers. VxWorks is not self-hosting which forces you to use a cross-development system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are an IOT product company and our engineers use it on a daily basis to solve all sorts of complex problems.

What do you like best about the product?
- The boot time is short. You don't have to wait for long.
- It is very light weight and manageable therefore best for communication and networking purposes.
- It is a very stable and reliable Real Time Operating System for industrial projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
- There are few or no error erasers which could simply remove a bug that may occur.
- The price is very high.
- The support system is not very cooperative.
- It does not have commercial-friendly licensing terms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a customizable real-time operating system. VxWorks is designed for cloud applications with integrated devices on most central processing units (CPU). We use VxWorks for a variety of hardware, including equipment for networking and networks, equipment for measuring and calculation, peripherals for servers, industrial systems and consumer goods.

What do you like best about the product?
Some benefits i realized were:
Lightweight: The most reliable thing I found about this system is that it is lightweight RTOS suitable for applications for networking and network devices.
Memory allocation: VxWorks offers optimum system usage and gives us more efficiency when using the power of all running devices. Down time is little to none.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are several risks with VxWorks. There aren't enough debuggers which can erase or remove errors from this type of system. There is no time limit on how long the awaiting activities have to wait if they are placed on separate processors. VxWorks has under-privileged support for communication between processes. VxWorks is not self-hosting, which means that a cross-development system must be used.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use VxWorks on integrated devices. It is simple to set up and can run on multiple processors for distributed computing. VxWorks is used to monitor network and networking devices, equipment for monitoring and calculating, storage devices for servers, vehicle systems, equipment for aircraft (aeronautics and astronautics) and other consumer goods.

What do you like best about the product?
Light weight RTOS suitable for communication and network device platforms. Boot time is very less
What do you dislike about the product?
Not enough debuggers/IDE are available. Majorly CLI interface is only available. More stability is required for parallel processing applications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Developed a intelligent switch platform using vxworks. Product development and solutioning for new market.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Suitable for any new communication/network product development with a faster turn around time.
