Reliable Lecture Capture
What do you like best about the product?
Generally just absolutely rock solidly reliable which is what I need from lecture capture.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of branching video, assignment plugin needs refinement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automatic captioning and dictionary saves a lot of time. Capture is very reliable, reducing number of queries
Effortless Lecture Recording, Needs Better Subtitles
What do you like best about the product?
I have used Panopto for recorded lectures at the University of Liverpool and appreciate being able to easily rewatch lectures, which is particularly helpful for recapping later in the semester. I also like the ease of use for lecturers, allowing them to easily record without excessive effort. This ease means lectures are recorded more often rather than skipped because it's difficult or time-consuming. I found the layout and instructions intuitive, so I had no issues with the initial setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
The subtitles are very useful, but for physics, they are very frequently inaccurate due to advanced technical vocabulary.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Panopto to rewatch recorded lectures with subtitles, which helps me recap later in the semester. Its ease of use encourages lecturers to record sessions without much effort, ensuring lectures are consistently captured.
Intuitive Layout and Second-to-None Customer Service
What do you like best about the product?
Everything is always right where I expect it to be and the customer service is second to none.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the Primary Audio and Primary Video were separated for easier editing.

It’s a solid lecture capture and video storage system, and it integrates well with Moodle.
What do you dislike about the product?
The adminstration and folder management is limited and basic. You cannot separate staff and student videos.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It just works seemlessly with Moodle and teaching and learning online
Easy for Students, but Admin Reporting and Roadmaps Need Work
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use for students and academics on the front end.
What do you dislike about the product?
Roadmaps disappearing, admin can be difficult with reports hidden and feature requests ignored

Remote recording in multiple locations across multiple campuses.

Ability to schedule lecture capture reducing requirements for academics

Lack of access to data to help understand how system is being used

Academics refusing to record. Having scheduled lecture capture gives them no opt out
Easy to Maintain with a Straightforward, Clear Admin Interface
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to maintain and support compared to Mediasite. Admin interface is very straight forward with clear toggles and descriptions.

The maybe unnecessary push into the AI sector with partially cooked offerings such as summaries

Effortless Lecture Capture with Seamless VLE Integration
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Panopto's integration with our VLE, which enhances ease of use for students and manages authentication and access efficiently through SSO. The LTI integration with Canvas also stands out, making it easy for lecturers to embed videos. Additionally, the initial setup of Panopto was very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are trialing the Access AI functionality and we don’t believe it is quite there yet for us to use with students. Some of the summaries are missing key parts, and the 3 key points could prove confusing to students thinking there is only 3 key areas to look at.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panopto allows students to review and revise lessons whether they were present or not. The integration with our VLE offers ease of use for students, along with authentication and access management, using SSO. The LTI integration with Canvas makes it easy for lecturers to embed videos.
Effortless Lecture Capture, Needs Better Integration
What do you like best about the product?
I use Panopto for capturing lectures and video content management. I find its video capturing and embedding easy to use, and it's easy to schedule recordings. I like that it's simple and has a low learning curve, which makes it easy to use. I also appreciate its content management system; the way it organizes content into folders is intuitive and helps manage thousands of videos efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
The REST API needs to be expanded extensively to cover larger functionality. Better integration with our systems is desperately needed. The current Moodle block needs a lot of bug fixing or improvements, and right now, it only helps with simple bulk operations.

I use Panopto for easy video capturing, scheduling, and intuitive content management with folders, benefiting from its simplicity and low learning curve.
