Lots to Handle, Lots to Like
What do you like best about the product?
I like a lot about Panopto! The video "session" builder is powerful, with a lot of options for video sources, slides, audio sources, all that good stuff. As we've learned over the past year-plus, faculty have a lot of wants and needs for video recording and sharing - ELMO cameras, slide shows, web cams, mobile phone videos, YouTube videos, etc. - and Panopto is the smoothest way I've seen to bundle everything together. A Panopto session is a good replication of the in-person experience of switching from lecturing to showing a video to writing on a board and back and forth.
The Panopto viewer also has a lot of great quality-of-life stuff that other tools lack; searchable transcripts/slide capture is the big one for us, but discussions, notes, switching between video feeds in the session are all cool features.
The editor is also in a good sweet spot; not too much club for newbie editors, but powerful enough that a more experienced faculty member can do what they need to do without opening a standalone editing software. Very cool that edits in the Panopto editor are nondestructive as well.
Finally, the integration with our LMS appears very smooth!

What do you dislike about the product?
It is a lot to handle and a big adjustment if you're coming from another video recording/sharing platform. Some elements are unintuitive at first (mainly the Panopto "vocabulary" - session, etc.). The overall "look" of the viewer, site, etc. is fine but feels a little barebones, again, coming from other video platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our former video platform is sundowning, so we are filling the online video recording and sharing need with Panopto. Faculty use these platforms to post class videos, lecture capture, etc.
Effective Tool for Online & Remote Teaching
What do you like best about the product?
Currently, I teach introductory level college courses. So when our university went remote for the semester, I needed something to help me record my lectures. Panopto has allowed me to do that. Personally, I find the program rather easy to use. I have it downloaded onto my desktop, so when I am ready to record my lectures all I have to do is open the program. I also appreciate the ability to edit your content in the program, and that you don't have to export your recordings to a seperate application. This makes it easy for me to provide my students with a recorded lecture (since we are not meeting face to face). Panopto also allows you to outline your lectures students can easily navigate the content. So far, I've heard good feedback from them as well!
What do you dislike about the product?
The editor is a little clunky in my opinion, where it can be sometimes difficult to cut or trim your video. That being said, I just give myself a little extra time before a start my lecture and after I end it (to make cropping the video easier). Other than that, the only problem I've run into is thinking I've hit record when I have not. That is rather frustrating, but I would not put that error on Panopto. Just be sure to double check you hit record before you start speaking!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panopto has allowed me to provide my students with lectures which is more interactive. Since COVID-19, it's been hard to interact with students the way you would in a classroom, especially while teaching remotely. Not all students can login to class synchronously, given that everyone lives in different timezones and areas. So this software lets me record my lectures to make them more accessible.
User and IT for panopto.
What do you like best about the product?
Students can watch videos multiple times and take notes within the program.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many panopto features are available within zoom, but I feel zoom is more user friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With the corona virus, classes could not meet face to face. Panopto allowed users to obtain lectures and watch them at the speed they wished.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend using the notes feature to your advantage to take notes at specific times in a video.
Great App to Manage and Share Video Content within a Professional Environment
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto provides great features for sharing and controlling access to video content. I can produce a video and have very tight control over who can view it and what they can do with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Videos must currently be uploaded via the Web portal. Being able to perform this action from the desktop client would be nice since we've mass deployed it within our environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panopto allows our organization to effectively reach our students and provide access to lecture recordings and other curriculum materials remotely. It has allowed us to become a virtual organization and continue our learning objectives while navigating a global pandemic.
Practical Streaming Platform
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto is a very simple but functionally great software for recording Live streams. It gives seamless integration with any Learning Management system or Classroom Management System, thus making it very easy to integrate without any hassle.
I really like the mode where we can switch between slides/video. This is ideal when at times you want to concentrate on the slides being displayed while other times you want to focus on the recording.
Also, we can quickly access the portion of the video by choosing the slide, that comes handy when you want to refer back.
The best part is text search in an uploaded session, It's a quick search engine to lookup any word mentioned in a whole session!

What do you dislike about the product?
I would have liked a slightly better interface. The UI looks very basic. It seems ideal only when integrated with a Learning management system that is currently being used at an organization. I would expect the platform to come up with a feed or an interface to browse public videos, create playlists, and make a portfolio of what you have been watching.
I would also prefer support for multiple screencast so that the video can be viewed on one screen while viewing the related material on the other. It would be great if we can annotate on a personal copy of uploaded course material/

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panopto has been a real lifesaver for organising a live stream of class lecture for future use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Panopto is a great tool not only to share Live stream, but also to organise a whole lecture with supporting class materials. Panopto is really helpful while preparing for tests or while completing assignments as we can quickly search through the automatic transcriptions or the content in slides. Although the UI looks slightly unappealing, functionally Panopto is great.
Panopto Review
What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to use multiple video cameras and also share my screen. This gives me a lot of options to generate quiz questions, and I then I can integrate quizzes into my university's LMS.
What do you dislike about the product?
Editing short portions of videos out (mistakes) is not intuitive to me in the editor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panopto allows me to prerecord lecture snippets and demonstrate routines on the white board as well as the computer. I don't have to wonder if students heard me when I said something, because they can just go back and watch it again. It also allows me to "take attendance" by integrating simple quizzes, so students can show me they actually watched the video.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's great for getting videos delivered to students. Give it a try so students can go back and "not miss anything" that day.
Reliable, but can be slow at times
What do you like best about the product?
Includes speed controls and outlines of videos to allow for easy navigation
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be slow when there is a lot of traffic
If connection drops, you need to refresh the page
If connection drops, you need to refresh the page
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows me to view lectures/meetings remotely
Good way to integrate slides with video conferencing
What do you like best about the product?
It does not take a lot of time to create a presentation and the format is pretty intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can not think of anything significant that was wrong with the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing a digital presentation experience to remote workers as if they are sitting in a conference room.
Use of Panopto for backup lectures
What do you like best about the product?
Offers a system to record lectures and use if backup needed
What do you dislike about the product?
Somewhat complex, requires reqular use to get comfortable with
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Back up lectures, if weather or other issues
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate other tools although Panopto may be great for your company
Grad Student user of Panopto
What do you like best about the product?
You can take notes at certain points of the video lecture as each part has their own section (based on the creator of the video).
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it does not like going into full screen mode and will only be stuck in window mode. I am not sure if that is because of the note taking system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Watching lectures and being able to control them in terms of pausing, rewinding, slowing down to understand concepts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure the microphone is working properly when recording.
