Smartsheet: Easy Excel-Like Project Tracking with Real-Time Collaboration and AI Automation

  • April 22, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Smartsheet because of its strong performance and ease of use, similar to Excel. I can access all project files with my team, monitor package progress in real time, and integrate with tools like Microsoft Power BI. It also helps me track pricing and variances, making it worth the cost. They provide useful trainings, and the AI features—like automatic formula generation, data analysis, and smart automation—help reduce manual work and improve efficiency.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I don’t like about Smartsheet is that it can be limited when handling large or complex data compared to Excel. Some advanced features and automations are not very intuitive at first, and reporting is not as flexible unless integrated with tools like Microsoft Power BI. Pricing can also be high depending on the features needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet solves the problem of scattered project data and manual tracking. It centralizes all files, tasks, and updates in one platform, allowing me to easily monitor progress, track pricing and variances, and coordinate with my team in real time. This improves efficiency, reduces errors, and helps me make faster, more informed decisions.

Customisable Platform That Improves Efficiency

  • April 21, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Flexible—can be used for almost any process. Automations help reduce manual work, and it’s easy to track jobs, tasks, and overall progress. The dashboards and reports provide good visibility, and collaboration stays in one place with comments, attachments, and updates. It’s also customisable to fit how the business works, and it integrates with other systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
There’s a steep learning curve, and it can be confusing at first—especially for new users. It often feels like “Excel but harder.” Some advanced features cost extra and require add-ons, and it isn’t fully real-time, so updates can lag. If it’s not set up properly from the start, things can get messy quickly. Overall, it still feels limited compared to dedicated project tools, and some tasks end up needing complex formulas or workarounds.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves manual tracking issues by keeping all jobs, tasks, and updates in one place. It reduces double handling and admin work through automations, and it improves visibility into progress and status for the whole team. It also helps prevent missed tasks, delays, and follow-ups by keeping everything organised and up to date. Overall, it creates more consistent processes and reporting across jobs, and it makes collaboration easier with notes, attachments, and updates all managed within the same system.

Smartsheet Brings Structure, Clarity, and Collaboration Together

  • April 21, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Smartsheet is how it combines structure, clarity, and collaboration in a single tool. It can handle everything from detailed project tracking to straightforward team coordination, which makes it easier to stay aligned and transparent, and to keep priorities clear as work evolves.
What do you dislike about the product?
From a project perspective, the only downside is the initial setup effort required to build structured sheets and workflows. Once established, they significantly improve visibility and consistency.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet solves the problem of fragmented work—where plans, updates, and responsibilities are spread across emails, documents, and conversations. It brings everything into one shared, visible space, which makes it much easier to track progress, manage dependencies, and keep everyone aligned. For me, this has meant clearer accountability, better visibility across projects, and far less time chasing updates, allowing more focus on delivery rather than administration.

What do you like best about the product?
I find Smartsheet to be quite flexible and easy to use, much like Excel, which makes it accessible for everyone. Additionally, it helps us keep the process and timeline of a project organized among different people, enhancing our collaboration.

SmartSheet Keeps Our Global Social Team Aligned and On Track

  • April 21, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
SmartSheet allows my Global Social Media team at Riskonnect to collaborate on projects, prioritize deadlines, and execute social strategy in a unified platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish SmartSheet had mobile-accessibility - it's challenging if I'm on PTO and need to check in quickly on something for our Social Program that I have to use desktop to log in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SmartSheet allows Riskonnect to keep our Social Calendars organized and accessible to our Social Team members and others looking to find an open post date for an upcoming post for their campaign.

Easy Collaboration with Powerful Features, Needs Licensing Clarity

  • April 21, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Smartsheet for project management because it's easy to use and has great collaboration features, making project management fun. Adding attachments and comments on tasks is extremely useful, and being able to add formulas in the summary helps in calculating the number of tasks completed on time. Setting up Smartsheet was very easy and worked well out of the box.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would say the licensing and user section can be confusing. They recently did a change where they changed the names of the types of users and I get confused. I don't need every member to have a license because they aren't creating Smartsheets, just assigned tasks. We ran into some issues where we wanted to hide certain folders but would need to upgrade our account in order to do that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartsheet for project management. It solves collaborating issues with spreadsheets and serves as a source of truth for big initiatives. I like its easy use, collaboration features, attachments, comments capabilities, and helpful formulas for tracking task completion.

Elevated Project Management with User-Friendly Interface

  • April 21, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Smartsheet for project management, tracking our day-to-day activities, and conducting peer reviews. It's highly user-friendly, making it easy for anyone new to understand and use effectively. I appreciate the variety of options available, including radio buttons and a comment section, which are really good. The way data is structured is great. I think Smartsheet is a better version than Excel. I like that I can work on multiple projects simultaneously and view all my data on the left sidebar, making navigation simple. Smartsheet also allows a lot of exploration, which has been really helpful in our projects. It's a good tool for showing work to leadership and facilitating project collaboration among multiple people because it easily allows role division and is easily understandable, accepted, and implementable by everyone. I like how we are using it in our daily tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think there could be a lot of new things can come up. I don't know if Smartsheet has a charts thing or a data analytic thing. I'm not sure if it is there. I haven't explored it yet because I didn't get a chance to. But if those things were also there, it would be a great help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartsheet for project management to track activities, manage resources, and perform peer reviews. It's user-friendly, with excellent structure and options like radio buttons and comments. It's a better version than Excel for handling multiple projects and is helpful for team collaboration and role division.
