Great tool to create images for social media
What do you like best about the product?
It is super easy to use. I can upload my own images or use their high-quality free images. I like that there are templates so that you don't always have to start from scratch. Also, there is a free version that allows people to get really comfortable before they upgrade to the paid version.
What do you dislike about the product?
The app and the desktop version do not operate seamlessly. I know that the app is newer so hopefully, this will improve over time. I don't like when the run updates with no heads up. The last one changed so much and I would have like to have known that before hopping in to create something and feeling like I was learning a new system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am not a graphic designer so this has really allowed me to create great images in a short amount of time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is the best place if you are just getting started in creating images. The tutorials will show you all the basics and then you can use the templates to help you come up with your designs. I highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't have a design background but wants high-quality images.
Great for quick design

Canva
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is online and free. It is also very simple because it comes with pre-made templates that you can customize. Kinda tricky to use, though. For example, the zoom function is weird because it is in a browser.
What do you dislike about the product?
I hate the limit of the fonts! I wish I could upload my own, or that Canva had more choices like Adobe TypeKit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I wouldn't say I'm solving any problems with it. I prefer the Adobe software over it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try Adobe
Excellent general-purpose for web graphics
What do you like best about the product?
Extremely easy to use; the small set of tools & functions provides for a surprising degree of creativity and productivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacks some basic image-editing functionality. Some issues with function placements & features between versions, though this is not an issue for new users. Those who have been using Canva will find it switches from V2 to V1 when you try to edit images created in V1.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As someone who does all his work online - social media marketing, web development, and marketing materials - I have an ongoing need for the type of web graphics Canva excels at e.g. social media posts.
Between the provided templates and the ability to rapidly create, edit, and reuse graphics, Canva saves me a ton of time every day.
Between the provided templates and the ability to rapidly create, edit, and reuse graphics, Canva saves me a ton of time every day.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to create social media posts, blog graphics, etc., there really is nothing better - and it's free (there is a paid upgrade, but in years of working with it, I've never found the need to upgrade past the free offering).
Easy To Use & Fun
What do you like best about the product?
Canva has everything you need to quickly design whatever you need from banners, to business cards, to social media posts.
What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot really think of much! The free version lets you do a ton & you always have the option to upgrade if you want extra photos or graphics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to quickly design banners, posts, & more! It’s effortless & fun! I don’t have to overthink it as they already have a ton of templates ready to go!
A straightforward graphic design tool that's very easy to access and use
What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity of Canva is what stands our for me. I can load it up within seconds through just about any web browser on most computers I use. The usability is also very simple, especially compared to standard graphic design and illustration tools. Canva has many graphic elements available for users to use at no additional cost. There is a gigantic library of stock photos, chart icons and more that I can use for things like presentations and reports.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I don't have an internet connection, then I basically can't use Canva. Though I typically have internet access, I often struggle to find a connection when I'm traveling. Aside from that, there are very minor issues regarding occasional crashing or slow loading speeds, but nothing that really annoys me too much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When I need to create infographics or general graphics for presentations or business documents, Canva is one the design tools I go to first. I feel that I have some graphic design ability with common software like Photoshop and Illustrator, but I still find Canva easier to get me started and finished with my designs more quickly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Canva is a widely used graphic design tool by many people that I work with. I think I can give you the capability to both create quickly, but also allows you room to create unique designs that fit a wide range of needs. Beginner and advanced users can likely benefit from Canva for certain projects.
Best app for creating your designs yourself
What do you like best about the product?
Really easy to use and a great range of free templates available to help, I like the option to upgrade to unlock further templates.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be tricky to change the colour and font of parts of text if it is in the same text box
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have created my logo and used it for Instagram posts
Seriously the greatest thing.
What do you like best about the product?
I am an artistic person but not a graphic designer. Design technology freaks me out. That's why Canva is so flipping fantastic. You can get in, create something beautiful, and get out in a matter of minutes without any need for Adobe skills.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the limited number of free stock imagery available. I'm on the paid plan and it still requires me to pay $1 or more for some custom graphics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm creating social media and blog graphics, along with editing images to different specs. It saves me time and money that I would've spent on a designer.
Great software for those with limited design experience
What do you like best about the product?
I like the multitude of sizes, designs, and templates that Canva provides. I also like the ease of customizability Canva allows for. I have been able to create simple yet stunning social media posts allowing for increased engagement with my social media audience. I really like the infographic template because it allows me to create awesome educational materials for me to use when working with the public on educating them about what my nonprofit does.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like if the brand kit allowed me to provide more information to those that are collaborating with me on projects. I would also like if they allowed for more sizes to be printed through Canva. I believe they only provide about four different sized items to be printed at this time. It would also be very nice if they had a feature to create some type of video content, I would love to do all this through Canva instead of having to pay for other services.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This has helped extensively with the marketing of our brand as well as in the design and production of postcards, brochures, business cards, and social media posts. Another major problem we have solved is avoiding having to hire a graphic designer given the small budget of a newer nonprofit organization. I also like that it allows for designing through the mobile app if I have an idea while away from the computer, I can throw something together on the app and then refine it on the computer.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pay for the full subscription, it is worth it and pays itself back so quickly.
Easy to use web-based design resource, perfect for marketers.
What do you like best about the product?
I love how simple the program is to use and how easy it is to implement your own brand assets into it. Even as an avid Photoshop user, I often found myself going to Canva instead for how simple it was to create and use templates, as well as look at and get inspired by some of the pre-existing templates and how information was formatted on them. The amount of different templates, free assets, and the inclusion of the ability to create animated GIFs and web ads makes it a dream for users not particularly design-savvy.
What do you dislike about the product?
There wasn't anything I particularly disliked except for the fact my coworkers suddenly thought themselves to be designers and used it to generate ugly & off-brand content and uploaded it without approval from me. As much as I appreciate programs like these for existing for smaller brands that might not have a dedicated designer to generate their visual content, integrating it into a company like ours made design look so easy and let my coworkers undermine my position.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At the time, we were generating a custom image for every social post we generated, which could be around 10 images a week. We wanted them all to be on-brand, but different enough to be compelling. Canva allowed me to go in and create the 10 images fairly quickly, as well as upload the assets needed for each specific design and reuse them as needed with ease. It also let me export each week as a .zip which made my life so much easier.
