Great software for Indie authors
What do you like best about the product?
The software is easy to use especially if you are not a graphic designer. I have used it to get covers on my book and it did wonders. The cover formats are already set and editable.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times the downloaded formats of the covers tend to NOT display great picture resolutions. Secondly, you should expect most your free covers to fall under public domain use (ouch!).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use canva for my book covers on Kindle.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are not with software design, then try Canva! Any amateur can create a book cover with Canva!
Phenomenal
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, everything is completely intuitive. Easily upload your own pictures, drag and drop photos and text boxes, download in multiple formats, just fantastic.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only gripe I have is that I'd like more stock images and backgrounds in the free version. But, they have to make money somehow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The best benefit is doing very basic design work without needing to purchase PS. It wouldn't do well for someone whose primary job function is design, but for a marketer who occasionally needs to do design work it's a godsend.
Everyone Can be a Marketer
What do you like best about the product?
The format templates and design templates are GOLD. Not to mention, the ability to set up a branding kit to keep content consistent.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do dislike how clunky the mobile app is. Often times you’re working on something on your desktop and if you open it in the mobile app, the whole format is thrown off and messed up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The lack of need to pester our marketing department with small or last minute projects.
Great Product for Library
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to make posts and flyers for print and social media
What do you dislike about the product?
Formatting is sometimes difficult when moving elements within the page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Promoting programs for libraries, flyers stand out more and get more attention
Canva makes marketing easy!
What do you like best about the product?
I love that Canva has so many options to create beautiful, eye-catching marketing materials.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that Canva requires payment for many images, though there are many free options as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Canva to make marketing materials for my leasing office, to make flyers for resident events, and even personal cards for residents (get well, sympathy, congratulatory, etc.)
Basic Photoshop, but free!
What do you like best about the product?
The free version is almost all you need for most of our cases. I've upgraded to paid for the ability to have transparent backgrounds, but got away with free for years.
What do you dislike about the product?
The sharing of documents/projects/files (whatever you call a Canva creation) is convoluted. It can be hard to navigate and easily control which team members can see what.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Client account service and marketing are our primary uses.
Canva
What do you like best about the product?
I've played with the free version and love the drag and drop ability to design my own or edit the templates they provide using my own colors, images and text.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited elements available, template search function should be better
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a small business, I can't afford to hire a designer at this time and really have no clue what I'm doing but Canva definitely makes it a lot easier!
Best infographic tool for Social Media Graphics
What do you like best about the product?
Among many free Infographic Tools available online, Canva might be the most user-friendly platform. Its layout is simple, clean, and easy-to-understand. It also has a huge library including over 100 thousand images, icons, charts, illustrations, and many other features for your infographic-related works. With tons of images and fonts in the app, you can make professional-looking infographics on Canva.
What do you dislike about the product?
Currently Canva does not support any videos embeds, animated features, and live-data integrations at all. If you want to build an infographic that’s more interactive or features based on real-time data, Canva is not the right option for you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Canva, I can publish my creation to Design Stream, where others can be invited to talk about my work. This is a great feature for connecting with coworkers and getting feedback on my graphics.
Making fantastic graphic images has become a piece of cake
What do you like best about the product?
In the past, making a graphic design was a bit of a pain on the neck. But since I discovered Canva, I look forward to more customers that want “original designs”. It’s really cool that Canva´s website gives you the ability to choose from hundreds of templates, all of them filled with beautiful designs and colorful. It’s even cooler that you can choose any of those templates and then make it yours by changing and adding some colorful overlays, and changing and adding other stuff like text and lines. After these easy tweaks, you have an amazing graphic design to sell to your customers.
What do you dislike about the product?
I’m in love with Canva, that’s true, but it’s fair to say that a bit above 12 USD is a bit of a high price for this kind of software. Additionally, when I signed up for Canva’s paid service, I was promised free illustrations and images (which were labelled by the sign “premium”), but it’s really sad to realize that, when you’ve upgraded your account to become a paid member, you still have to pay for those supposedly free images and illustrations for premium members.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canva benefits me because it gives me the tools to make fantastic graphic designs for most of my customers, and all of this takes literally only a few minutes. It doesn’t matter if I’m asked to design brochures, covers, icons, or anything, I can tackle all of that with Canva.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This software will make your life easier as a designer (if you’re a restaurant owner, you’ll love Canva to make your menus, cards, and even napkin images)
Beginner Marketing Tool
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to follow. Has a good balance between freedom to create and structure to help guide beginners. The designs are great and versatile. The options are great as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a lot of clutter. I think the search bar could be more effective and efficient. There's also just too much in one category / there should be more separation/categories.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It makes creating content, ads, and documents an easier, faster, and much more stylish process
