Best program to create graphics for students

  • October 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am not the most creative, however with this program I am able to create graphics that my students like, and send information that they actually read now.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that a lot of the icons are under the premium account.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to increase our attendance with our academic success workshops, and by advertising using canva, we have seen an increase in attendance.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are alot of articles online that help you decide how to organize your information using canva in a more logical way. I have used this to figure out the specific fonts and colors to use to garner more attention.

Easy to use for beginners

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can make a simple graphic in no time without having to steal a designers time. There are a number of sizes to choose from as well. (twitter header, email header, facebook profile and banner, cards, invitations and more).
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the fact that you can only go "so far" with graphics and that many icons or backgrounds do cost extra. I also dislike that if you do not have an image that is a png - the background cannot be edited out. If this changed I would like it a whole lot more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using this software to create very simple graphics for email campaigns. I also use it occasionally for blog post headers and social media posts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would say to start basic and then grow your skill set from there. You cannot go crazy in Canva with its features, you may need some basic help from a designer to give you images to start with or import stock photos from a free site.

Depending on your needs and abilities - this could be awesome

What do you like best about the product?
So many templates, inspiration and pre-set options that truly do make it easy to create some nice looking things that would otherwise be beyond my ability.
What do you dislike about the product?
However, you can quickly find yourself wishing 1) you were better at graphic design, and 2) that Canva allowed you to do more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Now we can quickly and easily create branded social media posts. We also commissioned artwork for a flyer that I was able to upload and then create the back in a nicely matching style. This allowed us to pay for what we truly couldn't do (illustration) but combine it with DIY graphical layout on the back.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You can get a lot of milage out of the free version. We used that for a while before upgrading.

Simple and Professional

What do you like best about the product?
Canva is really user-friendly. The interface itself is so much more intuitive than a hefty professional program like, say, Photoshop. But for making and sharing sleek professional-looking images with text, it does the job.
What do you dislike about the product?
For someone who's used to more complex software, the options could seem somewhat limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed standardized daily text images for our social media platforms. A great benefit was that anyone on the team could use the program, and by using past images as a template our images looked consistent and branded regardless.

Canva Great for Social Graphics

  • October 03, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy this program is to use. The very first time I play around, I was able to create something that I otherwise couldn't on my computer. For someone who doesn't have Photoshop or Indesign on their desktop, Canva is a great alternative.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that you have to pay more for certain graphics. I wish there were more free options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our graphic designers are limited on time when it comes to creating things like infographics or extra social graphics that we'll only use for marketing purposes a couple of times. With Canva, I have the ability (with my limited design skill set) to create something that looks great that I can use almost instantly instead of having to go through the process of requesting something.

What do you like best about the product?
Love the hundreds of options they provide for formulated templates. You can use a template completely or combine several aspects that you like. It is completely customizable!
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no search feature on the templates so you do have to scroll through several to find one you like. But it is worth the searching.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
beautiful marketing made simple! We have created social media posts, invitations, newsletters and other mass media creations!

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can go to Canva and create and incredible image that looks professionally done.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that I could favorite specific templates and take those out of future template searches.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I schedule and design social media graphics for a nonprofit and I am able to do that with ease!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Without a doubt, incorporate Canva into your graphic design process.

What do you like best about the product?
it's so easy to use! my students love it and are able to be super creative! I also love how the graphics and design options are simple yet elegant.
What do you dislike about the product?
two students cannot work on a project together- ex, you cant have canva open on two devices at the same time like you can on google docs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
it helps students create projects and also helps when making flyers for parents.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Canva is definitely a great resource for teachers in the classroom as well as out of the classroom to give parents information about events and to share pictures!

What do you like best about the product?
You can make eye-catching graphics for publicizing events such as recruitment, release parties, and fundraisers.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a while to upload your own photos onto the website
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Public engagement, increasing follower count and event turnout
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend this for simple graphics, however, a software such as InDesign would be better if you wanted to make something like a unique logo

Great for your quick Graphic Design Fix

  • October 02, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Canva takes the stress out of usage rights for stock imagery and graphic creation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Canva can be just a little bit clunky at times, and the number of fonts options and design features, while okay an be both limited and awkward to work with for beginners.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
If I need a quick graphic created to turn a relevant insight into an eye-catching, online meme or other social media brain-candy, this is the best tool. You can also turn your team loose on it and they don't have to have particular design experience.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is not going to be a replacement for graphic design software, or for graphic designers. While it CAN produce infographics, you still need that person who has a strength for converting information into imagery in order to create compelling visual material. However, for social media content, this is a great tool.
