The most simple accounting tool out there
What do you like best about the product?
The straight forward design of the tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the reports are a little wonky, I have to export data to make a few reports in Excel.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We integrate all financial-related tools with Xero so all transactions are in one place.

Xero Accounting
What do you like best about the product?
Xero provides a very simple but effective dashboard that gives you a snapshot of your business’s financial position.
What do you dislike about the product?
I’d like for Xero to incorporate some more visual reports and graphs with regards to cash flow - much like Quickbooks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our financial operation and awarenes of financial position. It’s helped with invoicing and expense tracking.
New User but very impressed. Moved from Sage 50 around three months ago.
What do you like best about the product?
Xero is saving many hours of time each day compared to using Sage 50. I am very impressed. We moved from Sage 50 around 3 months ago and am starting the see the many benefits of cloud accounting, and the simplicity which Xero does things.
What do you dislike about the product?
The move from sage to Xero could have been a little smoother, because we have multi currency a lot of things had to be fixed manually. We still have a small problem of some historic invoices being in a wrong currency. however because you can accept payment against any invoice in any currency (unlike Sage) this is less of an issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time is the biggest problem we have solved, and also being able to see live bad debtors and creditors is a huge positive. The bank feeds prevent me from having to log into every bank each morning, i simply hit refresh and it pulls in the latest incomings and outgoings of every account we have. This makes bank reconciliation a much easier and smoother process. I always had to fight with Sage at month end to do this, but now it is a doddle.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Spend a lot of time on the implementation and get it right from the offset.

What do you like best about the product?
Xero handles so much of the workload that would otherwise take a long time to do manually. It's easy to navigate, works well, and being online means collaboration is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some tools can be very slow to load, especially Payroll. The design is clearly a work in progress as it is disjointed with old and new designs spread throughout the site.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We manage all our accounts and bookkeeping with Xero, which has minimised the time spent running accounts and enabled us to focus on our business.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Xero is a great tool that is constantly improving with new features and tools. They're heading in a strong direction and I look forward to seeing what they come out with next.
Great Alternative to the Intuit Beast
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use; Intuitive - quick setup and easy to use categorization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much; Reports can be a bit difficult to properly setup.

Hard to include everything but for the average small business it really is your one stop shop for your accounting requirements:

Ease of access (destop / mobile / no user restriction / invite your accountant)
Bank reconciliation is made super easy and can complete from your mobile phone also
Super easy invoicing (accept online payment, custom templates, auto invoice reminders)
Multi currency with Xe.com rates saves a heap of time compared to the old way, makes reconciliations easy and auto books the gains / losses for you. Really don't have to think too much about it.
Xero touch app (alerts on touch smartpone app for changes in daily bank balance also)
Ample integrated apps (CRM, Inventory, Document storage, Payroll etc)
Free xero education / learning platform
Wealth of support (help centre / support tickets)
Xero community

What do you dislike about the product?
Currently does not support other languages except English (I do consulting to Japanese / Chinese based businesses which have come up with some nice work arounds).
Budget manager is for performance budgets only (not cash or balance sheet) but in saying that you have available integration apps that can do full budgets for you.

Make recording source data (bank transactions, loose expenses) as painless as possible with little effort, by using automated bank feeds, xero touch app, xero expenses app.
It's proven to save larges amounts of time for the clients I've assisted and also allowed for visibility over business operations where previously there was a strong reliance on the accounting division before understanding where your business was at.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Before diving in, map out all your business applications, check that everything is going to play nicely together (API connections), if needed consider Zapier to connect external applications to Xero (can do some very clever things), importantly understand Xero is not like quickbooks, MYOB, Sage etc...the onboarding / setup process therefore is going to be different than what you are used to. Xero is suited for small business applications, if you are a large scale manufacturing firm or hold complex stock items don't expect Xero to do you any wonders. Check that it meets your requirements first. If stuck refer to a certified Xero adviser or Xero support for assistance who are quick to respond. Happy accounting.
Simple Alternative to Quickbooks
What do you like best about the product?
The biggest this is that you don't need a accounting degree to use it. It sync with everything I currently use and it's quite cheap to use. You don't have to pay someone to set it up for you especially if you are willing to do some digging and find the answers to your questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be a bit difficult to setup but once you are there it's easy to use. I could use a few more custom reports too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a solution that was easy to use and easy to teach others to use. It also had to be online and have lots of add-on's and apps to sync to. Xero fill all of those blanks. To start with we were a one-man-band so it had to be simple to setup and just run and without any form of accounting experience it was simple and easy.
Easy to use and well integrated
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Xero is well integrated with our Cloud apps that I use. It greatly simplifies accounting and reconciliation process.
What do you dislike about the product?
It lacks class categorizations to do job cost accounting

I replaced QuickBooks with Xero and it greatly reduced the amount of time I spend doing the books.
Super easy to use accounting software for everyone!
What do you like best about the product?
Doing a bank rec is so easy its like playing a game, I just love it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Starting to get a bit over complex now as there is so much getting added to the product, I know many people that are turned off by this although I am used to it.

An OK alternative to Quickbooks Online
What do you like best about the product?
I like the rules we can set up for recurring transactions. It makes reconciling very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't care for the dashboard as much as I do Quickbooks Online's. The sync feature for our bank account is cumbersome and seems to take a long time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's good for recording income and expenses...like it should. Overall, it does just what it needs to.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I use QB Online for one business and decided to try Xero for another. I think based on the familiarity of QB Online, I'd go with that given the opportunity to start over.
