Product is getting better every day
What do you like best about the product?
HUMAN bot Defender solves two problems: stops content scraping and lower IVT hitting ad stack. HUMAN has provided an exemplary service footprint, making ample resounces available to us as we implemented and then fine tuned the implementation. They have shipped numerous product features and enhancements based on our feedback and roadblocks.
What do you dislike about the product?
HUMAN was not easy to implement, although, to be fair, we chose to do all of the work ourselves, CDN codewise. HUMAN's product was not ready for our media-centric use case at first but has made strides since.
also, there was not a good method for measuring the metric used to calculate the costs on the contract so we ended up overbuying in the first pay period, wasting money.
Finally, I wish the reporting went back further than 2 weeks. 3 months of data would be much better feature. Ingesting this data into our warehouse is expensive and hard to prove the worth of when there aren't fire drills. When there are fire drills, we want to be able to look further back.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
HUMAN solves two issues for us:
- block content scraping and other malicious behavior (DoS attacks for ex.)
- prevent IVT from hitting our ad stack
Stopping content scraping improves our SEO presence and stopping IVT from seeing ads improves ad yield and ad performance. This also alleviates servers and CDN loads at peak times.
HUMAN also provides insights into robotic traffic that we were ignorant of previously. The platform makes it very easy to block or limit robotic traffic. For example, we use it to block ChatGPT bot.

Excellent and complete product
What do you like best about the product?
The product is really complete and solves very well a great number of use cases, surpassing even my expectations due to the nature of the attackers we are handling.
The detection is very accurate causing almost no interferences in our legitimate users and blocking many of our attackers and the detection is improving weekly.
The technical and people support is very competent in your expertise. It helps you hands-on, debugging, and analyzing when needed, although it is not always easy to book a time.
The implementation differs from your setup, in my case I use HUMAN Bot Defender in 2 different ecosystems, in one ecosystem it is straightforward and customizable, and in the second one, it is more sophisticated, however, coupled with your API Gateway which makes the integration a bit heavier in terms of workload.

As an engineer, I would suggest investing in improving the visibility and in a way to empower the customers to create more sophisticated rules to improve the detection in the console.
Another suggestion for improvement is, as this software is constantly in the critical path of several applications, to try to create some mechanism to reduce the blast radius in new implementations such as Incremental Rollout and/or the possibility of turning on and turning off in the console to ease the operations in the customer's API gateway.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
HUMAN Bot Defender is helping us to protect our APIs from abuse of software that is cloning our Web applications and building cross-company products that do not meet the safeguards operations imposed by our Legitimate Clients which is damaging the reputation of our products because, from our customer's perspective, they don't see if the vendor is using our legitimate applications or one of these "pirate" applications to delivery our services.

It doesn't require complex integration on the client sides. Its work is almost transparent and decisions are rather accurate

- there is no immediate feedback if something goes wrong. Something like automatic spike detection and comparing statistics with previous period

Helps to prevent bot attacks

What do you like best about the product?
So far, the team is responding incredibly fast to our questions, no matter if it is an emergency like an attack or just a question about backend operations. They also came to us multiple times if they observed some unusual traffic on some of our routes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since there is some artificial intelligence involved in the detection, it takes a while until the product is fully usable. Since it is integrated into our shop, it can't prevent ddos bot attacks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use the tool mostly to prevent scraping bots to access our site and automated buyers to enter lotteries and buy all of some special products. Compared to our previous solution, page loading speed has increased, since it is integrated into our website instead of an extra layer.

What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up the initial configuration of BD, whether on-premises or in a cloud infrastructure, can sometimes entail multiple troubleshooting sessions to ensure it aligns with your expectations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an online ticketing provider, we encounter a significant volume of bot traffic. These bots not only attempt to purchase high-value tickets for resale in the secondary market but also engage in tactics to artificially inflate ticket prices for the same event in that market. Human Bot Defender has been instrumental in mitigating ticketing bots and identifying their behavior when attempting to generate fake demand.

What do you like best about the product?
The support team is always prompt when it comes to new issues, every time we create a case we receive an initial response within minutes and support within the hour.
What do you dislike about the product?
The dashboard is still a bit limited/basic. Having more options for creating security configurations would help, especially the ability to see the history of our changes (self-serve + HUMAN) long-term so that we can diagnose if recent changes are affecting our business.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
HUMAN is helping us lower the amount of bots that are purchasing our stock, ensuring more of our customers have a fair chance at hot-release items. On top of that, we are able to mitigate large-scale DDoS attacks, keeping our origin server up and running.
Low fuss bot protection that works
What do you like best about the product?
It's nice and simple to integrate the sensor and once that's in, the handoff to HUMAN to manage bots is seamless. Bot Defender does a great job of protecting us against potentially harmful spikes and their team will give us a full report after the fact, breaking down what happened.
The fact that the team are always on hand and available to look into issues is also a massive bonus. We can reach out via chat channels and have a ticket logged and assigned immediately.
The web UI, once you get to grips with it, is really quite intuitive and provides many options to find exactly what you're after.

What do you dislike about the product?
The UI could take some getting used to for new users and once you get the hang of it you may wish there was just one extra filter to really get the information you were looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bot Defender monitors all the traffic to our web application and does a fantastic job at blocking malicious attacks. It means we can focus on other day-to-day tasks, safe in the knowledge that HUMAN is going to manage the rest.

Bot defender continues to shield us from scripters, mitigating 90-95% of the issues, which is very helpful for our site stability team.
The integration was seamless on the web, but we ran into difficulty with native apps (native and react native). They quickly offered to collaborate with their developers, who were very helpful and either fixed issues on the spot on our side or quickly produced patches.

What do you dislike about the product?
The user experience solving captchas is sub par. Sometimes they can come in succession and seem unnecessarily repetative sometimes. We are keeping fingers crossed that 3.0 version will be an improvement, and so far, a few weeks in, it appears to be!
